Scottish League Cup: Celtic beat Rangers on penalties
- Published
Celtic lifted the Scottish League Cup after beating their rivals Rangers 5-4 in the final.
It was a tense game that went to penalties after extra time ended in a 3-3 draw.
Bragging rights were on the line as both teams were heading into the game with exactly the same number of trophies – 118 each.
After this win, Celtic now have more major trophies than Rangers, the first time that's happened since the 1930s.

What happened in the game?
Neither team was pushing ahead in the first half until Rangers star Nedim Bajrami planted a goal not long before the whistle blew for half time.
But Celtic came back fighting in the second half.
They had two goals in four minutes from Greg Taylor and Daizen Maeda.
But Rangers quickly levelled the score with another goal, this time from Mohamed Diomande.
Celtic went ahead once more in the 87th minute with a goal from Nicolas Kühn, but Danilo Pereira da Silva made sure Rangers equalised just a minute later, taking it to extra time and eventually penalties.
Celtic's goalie Kasper Schmeichel was the hero of the penalty shoot-out, saving all of Rangers' attempts.
It eventually came down to Yilmaz versus Schmeichel and Maeda versus Butland.
Daizen Maeda revealed after the game that his winning kick, which caused Jack Butland to dive the wrong way, was actually miskicked.
Whether he meant to kick it like that or not, it gave Celtic the victory, with manger Brendan Rodgers describing it as a "great game to be involved in".
