Top tips for staying safe around dogs

New figures from the Royal College of Surgeons suggest that one in five people who had to go to hospital over the last three years after being bitten by a dog were under the age of 18.

Professor Vivien Lees, who works for the college, has warned that people need to make sure they are being safe around our canine companions.

The latest figures suggest that about one-quarter of the UK's population has a dog.
