Teenager Lateef Elford-Alliyu rescued a point for Bury at home to Leyton Orient after coming off the bench.

The 19-year-old, on loan from West Brom, had only been on the field four minutes as a second-half substitute, when he met David Worrall's cross.

Orient dominated the first half and Jonathan Tehoue went close, before Matt Spring gave them the lead with a curling shot from the edge of the area.

Andy Bishop had Bury's best chance, before Elford-Alliyu rescued a point.

Bury manager Richie Barker told BBC Radio Manchester:

Belford chose to be left out - Barker

"I think any point we get now is a point gained, and being a goal down it was important we got something out of it.

"It was [goalkeeper] Cameron Belford's decision (to not be on the bench). He was extremely disappointed to be left out.

"I gave him the option. If you're mentally OK to sit on the bench, that's fine. If you're not, that's fine as well, as I know it's a difficult thing to take.

"It was a good finish and he's [Elford-Alliyu] sharp and bright around the box, and he certainly knows where the goal is."

Leyton Orient assistant coach Kevin Nugent told BBC London 94.9:

Nugent: "the performance was good and we should have been three up at half time"

"We feel it's been two points dropped, as it was a good performance. We created numerous chances and should have been three up at half-time.

"It's still a good point but disappointing to not grab all three. Tehoue was a real threat and it's good our strikers are creating, we now need them to convert the chances.

"It's a tough league and hopefully we can convert our opportunities in the next few weeks."
