Truro City given six weeks to clear £15,000 HMRC debt

Blue Square Bet South side Truro City have been given another six weeks to save themselves from winding up.

The club was issued with a winding up order by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in March over a £51,000 tax bill. That bill was later paid.

However, it emerged during the hearing in the High Court on Monday that the club had ran up another £15,000 in tax debts since then.

The registrar adjourned the case until 3 September.

The £51,000 bill was dismissed after the club paid up.

However, four other firms have attempted to take over as petitioners, claiming they are owed more than £700,000, but the club disputes these debts.

During the High Court hearing, the registrar ruled that HMRC should be reinstated as petitioning creditor.

The registrar adjourned the case to allow the necessary paperwork to be filed.

However, she warned that the club needed to "sort itself out one way or another".
