Truro City boss Lee Hodges fears his best players could leave

Truro City boss Lee Hodges feels it will be difficult to keep some of his best players at the club next season.

City were 14th in their first season in Blue Square South, despite being under a transfer embargo after tax problems.

"To compete with the small squad we've had has been brilliant," Hodges told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"The aim next season is to keep as many as possible and add to it. It's going to be a hard task to keep a few of them, but we'll try our hardest."

He continued: "We've spoken to a few of them and I'm sure over the next few weeks we'll be speaking to them again.

"It's just the early stages of talking to them, feeling them out, seeing if they want to be here or if they want to move on."

City have been under a transfer embargo since HM Revenue and Customs for tax debts of over £100,000 in September.

They but are still under embargo as they were served with a second winding up petition last month.

One Monday the club were given until June to pay over £50,000 they still owe to HMRC.

Despite the financial issues at Treyew Road, Hodges is hopeful that he will be able to keep as many of his current 16-strong squad as he can.

"Once we know where we stand then we'll try and get in what we need for next season to compete," he added.

"If we could add four or five of quality. I feel we will be in the top half rather than the bottom half."
