TRANSFER GOSSIP
Liverpool are closing on a deal for Barcelona defender Martin Montoya. The 22-year-old Spaniard's contract expires in the summer but managing director Ian Ayre flew to Spain on Thursday in an attempt to push a deal through in January.
Chelsea are considering a loan move for Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao, 25, with Jose Mourinho wanting the option to buy permanently in the summer.

Tottenham want to sign Basel winger Mohamed Salah. The Egypt international, 21, was watched by Tottenham sporting director Franco Baldini in the Swiss side's 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Champions League in midweek.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez is certain that Leighton Baines has not played his final game for the club. The 28-year-old England left-back, who is out until the new year after suffering a foot injury, is wanted by Manchester United, who could bid for him in January.

Newcastle are set to move for Netherlands Under-21 goalkeeper Warner Hahn. The 21-year-old FC Dordrecht player has also been watched by Roma, Lazio and Genoa.
Arsenal are to watch Dundee United youngster Ryan Gauld when the 17-year-old Scot faces Kilmarnock on Friday night. Manchester United, Liverpool and Everton are also interested.

West Ham are hoping to sign Marseille forward Andre-Pierre Gignac in January regardless of injured striker Andy Carroll's fitness. The 27-year-old France international is on a list of 20 possible targets.

Arsenal and Roma have both made bids for Barcelona's Paraguayan forward Tonny Sanabria, 17. The youngster has a £2.5m release clause in his contract. The Gunners are also interested in Real Madrid's Spanish striker Alvaro Morata, 21, and Schalke's German midfielder Max Meyer, 18.

Hull and Crystal Palace are targeting Nantes striker Filip Djordjevic, 26, who has impressed in Ligue 1 this season with eight goals in 14 appearances.
OTHER GOSSIP
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has no fears that French midfielder Yohan Cabaye, 27, and Argentina defender Fabricio Coloccini, 31, are trying to leave the Magpies.

Borussia Dortmund's kitman had to buy a shirt from the club shop for Sven Bender after the German midfielder, 24, covered three spares in blood after suffering a broken nose in the 3-1 win over Napoli.
