You have to say, that was coming. A strip sack on Carson Wentz, followed by a sack, and the Steelers' defence was again swarming all round the Vikings quarterback before TJ Watt reached up to that grab interception.

This is the kind of defence that Pittsburgh became famous for, and earned them an army of fans on the island of Ireland.

I'm sure the Rooneys are pretty chuffed right now.

First, Keeanu Benton unblocked and then TJ Watt wide open there. I can assure you that was not part of the plan!

The Pittsburgh defence has come to play today!

Someone is going home with an unexpected souvenir.

TJ Watt has absolutely belted that ball into the crowd in celebration of the interception.

  5. Turnoverpublished at 16:30 BST 28 September

    INTERCEPTION!!

Wentz is picked off for the second time in the game - and it's TJ Watt plucking the ball out of the air. Great play by the Pittsburgh D.

Watt is pumped!! And engulfed on the sideline by his team-mates.

  6. Sackpublished at 16:29 BST 28 September

    Minnesota Vikings 6-14 Pittsburgh Steelers

Wentz goes down for the 5th time in the game - another bruise for Monday morning

  7. Wentz on the runpublished at 16:28 BST 28 September

    Minnesota Vikings 6-14 Pittsburgh Steelers

Wentz goes on a run out of the pocket and picks up 9 yards for another Vikes first down.

He's sacked on the next play but Minnesota are now in Pittsburgh territory, camped on their 45

  9. A bit of Vikings momentum?published at 16:26 BST 28 September

    Minnesota Vikings 6-14 Pittsburgh Steelers

Mason grabs another Wentz pass and the Vikings advance to their own 43 for another first down.

They are getting a little bit into gear here.

  10. First Down Vikingspublished at 16:24 BST 28 September

Under pressure on a 3rd and 3, Wentz moves the chains with a smart low pass to Thielen - they are still only at their own 31.

A great hit from Ben Skowronek but the push on the back from Jay Ward made it worse for the Vikings .

  12. Four and out for the Steelerspublished at 16:20 BST 28 September

    Minnesota Vikings 6-14 Pittsburgh Steelers

And Rodgers cannot get the Steelers' offense out of first gear either at the start of the second half.

Four and out - they punt but do get decent field position, pinning the Vikings back to their own 10 after a penalty - an illegal block to the back - on the play.

As Aaron Rodgers prepares for his first drive of the second half, the fans in Croke Park have certainly appreciated his work so far.

In addition to his 12/14 passing for 165 yards in the first half, he even pulled the ball down in the face of pressure and scampered for a 10-yard gain.

He certainly didn't look like a man of 41 on that particular play.

(I'll be ignoring that Spurs jibe from Haydn).

  14. Steeler Staying Powerpublished at 16:16 BST 28 September

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin patrols the sideline.

He’s been in the job since 2007, joining from the Vikings, where he was defensive coordinator. He’s the longest current tenured head coach in the big four of American sports.

The Steelers favour stability at the top with only three head coaches since 1969 – a return of six Super Bowls suggests there’s something in that.

In the same period, I make it that Spurs have had 26 managers…that’s just in to make my colleague Jonathan Bradley twitch.

Minnesota have struggled on third down completions all year. That was another example there.

  16. Vikings splutterpublished at 16:13 BST 28 September

    Minnesota Vikings 6-14 Pittsburgh Steelers

Vikings start us off in the third quarter. Mason gains three on the ground with the first play after the break.

Wentz then completes a pass but for a four-yard loss and the Vikes are under pressure - 3rd and 11...and the QB is sacked.

Minnesota's punting team is out early...

  17. THIRD QUARTERpublished at 16:13 BST 28 September

    Minnesota Vikings 6-14 Pittsburgh Steelers

So we will resume with the Pittsburgh Steelers 14-6 up on the Minnesota Vikings.

Fourteen points is enough, of course, to retain a Ryder Cup if you're Team Europe....

...but Steelers' head coach Mike Tomlin and Steelers faithful will want a bit more than that on the scoreboard come the end of this game.

  18. Smiles for Mylespublished at 16:13 BST 28 September

    Minnesota Vikings 6-14 Pittsburgh Steelers

Myles Smith went down very well with the Croke Park crowd...a lot of fans stayed in their seats and weren't tempted to go in search of beer, burgers and merch.

Now the stage is rapidly dismantled and we await the return of the Steelers and Vikings to the field.

  19. Half-time showpublished at 16:03 BST 28 September

    Minnesota Vikings 6-14 Pittsburgh Steelers

The Croke Park crowd now get a half-time show with British singer-songwriter and BRIT award-winner Myles Smith as the headline act.

He is being joined by The Line-Up Choir, a Dublin-based, mixed-voice pop and rock choir.
