It was a catch for Dalton Schultz, and it's also one for Nico Collins who arrives with a leaping grab right down at the KC 13 as this Houston drive really gathers pace.

It's desperation stuff but that's often how great drives are built.

Unless something miraculous happens, down two scores, it's difficult to see the Texans coming back. They missed some opportunities.

Houston Texans 12-23 Kansas City Chiefs

The kick from 27 yards is no problem for Harrison Butker as he splits the uprights and sends KC into an 11-point lead and with just 4:38 left on the lock it's crunch time for Houston.

The Texans need quick points on this next drive to stay in this.

Xavier Worthy takes another lovely spinning catch on third down and he looks just inches short of the first, but Andy Reid will take no chances and sends out his field goal unit.

Are the Texans just tiring on defence? Kareem Hunt runs it up the middle and this time breaks a few arms tackles for a 13-yard gain this time and another first down.

Chiefs get the ball back off the punt and Kareem Hunt gets some rare joy on the ground with an 11-yard run for a first down.

Houston Texans 12-20 Kansas City Chiefs

Really bad collision between Jaylen Watson and Justin Reid on that last play as they both converged on Nico Collins and ram into each other - with Reid looking like he's come off worse.

Both big players for this Chiefs defensive unit so this is a concern.

The Texans haven't gone three-and-out all game long, and that's a terrible time for their first one as CJ Stroud can't connect with his receiver Nico Collins and Houston will have to kick it away from right on their own goal line.

Back to the Texans with over eight minutes left to play - they've moved the ball pretty comfortably at times so they'll fancy something here. The start on their own 11.

Not for the first time Houston's defence stands up with their backs to the wall and it's a quick three-and-out by the Chiefs who are really struggling on early downs as they just can't run the ball.

The fancy schemes to get Xavier Worthy on the ball aren't working either - KC look at their best when Patrick Mahomes just looks for Travis Kelce or tries to stretch the field with his long passing, as in and around the line of scrimmage Houston are dominating.

You've got to look at CJ Stroud and think you're no longer a rookie, you're in the play-offs, this is the fourth sack you've taken when you just can't take a sack. You're third and long, you're in field goal range. You've got to be able to learn from these mistakes.

That is elite style defence. That goes back to how they were able to win last year, because that Chiefs defence stepped up and got the ball back to the offence.

Oh no! Huge play here as the Texans go for it on fourth down but the pas rush gets through again and George Karlaftis chases down CJ Stroud and sacks him back at the Houston 44.

Great defensive call from Steve Spagnuolo but Stroud has to throw that ball away and not take the sack there.

Justin Reid is the extra man on the rush and he races through the line right up the gut to force CJ Stroud to just throw it away.

Nico Collins gets back in on the act with a big 24-yard catch from a tough CJ Stroud throw as the Houston QB was about to get hammered by the Chiefs pass rush.

The second-year man hasn't had his best stuff this season but he's showing up big time in the play-offs - really impressive for a young player.
