  1. Sanders' intangible qualities were impressive - Tomlinpublished at 03:25 British Summer Time 25 April

Shedeur Sanders has visited the Pittsburgh Steelers during the pre-draft process and seemed to make a positive impression on head coach Mike Tomlin.

"I've obviously known his father (Hall of Famer Deion Sanders) for a long time," said Tomlin. "My first time meeting [Shedeur], and to be quite honest with you, we didn't talk a whole lot about my relationship with his father.

"It was a normal pre-draft visit to spend time with a young man, to talk ball, to get to know him as an individual, to get to see how he processes and sees the game and how he articulates his football experience. From that standpoint, I was a very normal visit and a very productive one."

The Steelers need a starting quarterback so could this now be Sanders' moment?

"I think the things that stood out were evident in his video," Tomlin added. "There's a toughness there that doesn't get talked about enough. There's a competitive spirit there; it doesn't get talked about enough.

"I know he's very talented and made a lot of plays for his university and his team, but the intangible qualities displayed on tape were impressive to me."

  2. 'There's a split with Steelers over Sanders'published at 03:23 British Summer Time 25 April

NFL reporter Ian Rapoport: "All eyes are now on the Pittsburgh Steelers, with Shedeur Sanders still out there.

"We know he had a good visit, we know he's still available, we do not know if the Steelers will pick him.

"My understanding is that as of yesterday, they were going back and forth, is the value worth it? There was a split in the room. We will see what decision they make."

  3. 'Barron jumped off the screen for Texas'published at 03:23 British Summer Time 25 April

Few players elevated their stock more than Jahdae Barron last season. He jumped off the screen for Texas and seemed to be all over the field. Even as a versatile cornerback, he's more than prepared to lay a hit in run support.

  4. Pick 20 - Broncos select Jahdae Barronpublished at 03:21 British Summer Time 25 April

    Cornerback - Texas

The first cornerback off the boards comes with a bit of a ball hawk from the Longhorns who will head to an already elite defence in Denver.

The Broncos had one of the best units in the league last year - including the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year, Pat Surtain, also a cornerback so that secondary will be one to watch next season.

  5. 'A home run pick by Tampa Bay'published at 03:18 British Summer Time 25 April

Emeka Egbuka is an incredible player and person. He was the main man on a loaded Ohio State roster.

His character is A+ and he will set a tone with his maturity and leadership. I would call this a home run pick by Tampa Bay.

  6. Pick 19 - Buccaneers select Emeka Egbukapublished at 03:14 British Summer Time 25 April

    Wide receiver - Ohio State

The first Ohio State player off the board joins a list of receivers from that school to be taken high up in the draft - although not as high as Marvin Harrison Jr who went fourth last year.

But Egbuka is a talented receiver who can be used in a variety of roles, is a tough runner with ball in hand and also doesn't mind throwing a block or two either.

And in Tampa Bay he'll be able to learn from one of the best veteran receivers in the game in Mike Evans.

  7. 'Exposive Zabel plugs a hole for the Seahawks'published at 03:12 British Summer Time 25 April

Grey Zabel is one of my favourite players in the draft. He's explosive, testing at a level comparable to Creed Humphrey and Frank Ragnow. He fills Seattle's biggest need by far, plugging a huge hole on the interior offensive line.

  8. Pick 18 - Seahawks select Grey Zabelpublished at 03:06 British Summer Time 25 April

    Guard - North Dakota State

The versatile offensive linemen is heading up to Seattle as the Seahawks go for an athletic guard who can also operate across a number of spots on the O-line.

  9. 'A dice roll for the Bengals'published at 03:03 British Summer Time 25 April

If you built a defensive end in a factory he would look like Shemar Stewart. However, he had only 4.5 sacks in college.

I looked at players with his physical profile who succeeded in the NFL and they averaged 24 sacks in college. So this is a dice roll on traits.

  10. 'Question marks and huge potential'published at 03:02 British Summer Time 25 April

Here's why Nolen was one of Rob Staton's players to watch tonight.

Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen could be a top-10 pick tonight. Or he could fall out of the first round altogether.

Scouts rave about his talent and potential. He’s been compared to Eagles star Jalen Carter for his ability to wreck games from the interior. However, there are question marks about his consistency and character.

As a consequence, mock drafters have a hard time placing him in this class. There were games last year, such as against Florida, where he looked unstoppable. Philadelphia took a chance on Carter two years ago.

  11. Pick 17 - Bengals select Shemar Stewartpublished at 03:02 British Summer Time 25 April

    Edge - Texas A&M

No surprises here either, as one of the worst defences in football is being addressed by the Bengals by bringing in Aggies egde rusher Stewart.

Cincy ranked 25th in points per game allowed and 25th in sacks last season as the defence totally let them down - as Joe Burrow's offence was explosive but could just not do it all by themselves.

  12. 'A game-wrecker with twitchy speed'published at 02:58 British Summer Time 25 April

Nobody can deny Walter Nolen's talent. He's a potential game-wrecker with twitchy speed and an ideal frame for an interior rusher.

There were a lot of character concerns raised pre-draft. If you manage him correctly, he can be a terror for opponents.

  13. Pick 16 - Cardinals select Walter Nolenpublished at 02:54 British Summer Time 25 April

    Defensive tackle - Ole Miss

Arizona goes to the interior of their defensive line to spend their first round pick on Walter Nolen.

It was another tough year for the Cards last season, and it's clear where they want to improve as they also brought back veteran Calais Campbell in free agency.

  14. Who is Jalon Walker?published at 02:50 British Summer Time 25 April

    Linebacker - Georgia

Jalon Walker spent two years developing in different linebacker roles at Georgia before becoming a regular starter in 2024.

The 21-year-old played more as a pass rusher and enjoyed a breakout season, winning last year's award for best college linebacker.

At 6ft 1in, Walker is on the smaller side, but has the athleticism and explosiveness to compete on the edge in the NFL.

  15. 'Falcons need to figure out Walker's best role'published at 02:50 British Summer Time 25 April

    Rob Staton
BBC Radio Sheffield and NFL on 5 Live host

The fear with Jalon Walker is that he's a tweener. He doesn't have the length or size to play full-time as a pass-rusher but you don't want to limit him to playing middle linebacker.

He's a culture-setter and he has a lot of talent. They just need to figure out what his best role is in their scheme.

  16. Pick 15 - Falcons select Jalon Walkerpublished at 02:49 British Summer Time 25 April

    Linebacker - Georgia

A big player drops to the Falcons with Jalon Walker fancied to go much higher up in this draft as a superb disruptor on the defence.

It's a hole they really needed filling as Atlanta had gone all-in on offence the last four years with their first round picks.

Atlanta picked Kyle Pitts, Drake London, Bijan Robinson and that stunner last year with quarterback Michael Penix picked despite handing out $100m to Kirk Cousins.

This year they've landed a real dog on defence.

  17. Meet the QBs who could be drafted before Sanderspublished at 02:46 British Summer Time 25 April

We heard lots about Shedeur Sanders in the build-up, but here's a shout-out to some of the other quarterbacks who could maybe now be picked ahead of him.

Besides Cam Ward, Jalen Milroe is the only other quarterback at the draft and is thought to have the highest 'ceiling' of all the QB prospects. NFL scouts have said he runs the ball better than Lamar Jackson.

Jaxson Dart has a great name for a quarterback and threw for 29 touchdowns and 4,279 passing yards with Ole Miss last season.

And Tyler Shough (pronounced ‘shuck’) seems an interesting character. The 25-year-old has spent seven years in college, earning four degrees, and has just enjoyed his best season yet at Louisville.

The 6ft 5in QB also called himself “white lightning” at the Scouting Combine after clocking 4.63 seconds for the 40-yard dash and celebrated with the crowd in Indianapolis.

  18. 'Home run for the Coltspublished at 02:44 British Summer Time 25 April

Former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner: "Warren is just one of those players who looks comfortable on a football pitch. This is a home run for the Colts."

  19. Sanders on the slide...published at 02:42 British Summer Time 25 April

Luckily, Shedeur Sanders is not in Green Bay tonight so he can avoid having the cameras stuck in his face as he slides further down the draft - enduring his own Aaron Rodgers moment.

Rodgers was vying for the number one pick of the 2005 draft but ended up dropping all the way down to 24 where he was picked up by the Packers.

The Steelers look like his last hope of this first round with the 21st pick - it's hard to see where else he goes if Pittsburgh pass on him.

Jalen Milroe could be their option as more of a running quarterback option as Mike Tomlin opts to get back to historic Steeler football.

  20. 'An absolute steal for the Colts'published at 02:42 British Summer Time 25 April

    Rob Staton
BBC Radio Sheffield and NFL on 5 Live host

This is a steal for the Colts. Tyler Warren has every chance to be the focal point for Indianapolis' offense, much in the way Travis Kelce is for the Chiefs.

He won't have Patrick Mahomes throwing to him of course but he can be a dominant NFL force.
