Summary

  1. Pick 8 - Panthers select Tetairoa McMillanpublished at 02:03 British Summer Time 25 April

    Wide receiver - Arizona

A bit of a surprise given how bad the Carolina defence was last year as they pick up another receiver for Bryce Young - as they did in the first round last year.

A tall, long receiver, McMillan is a big red zone threat, capable of winning those contested catches with solid, strong hands.

He made 213 catches in his college career for 3,423 yards and 26 touchdowns.

  2. 'Wise move for explosive Membou'published at 01:59 British Summer Time 25 April

BBC Radio Sheffield and NFL on 5 Live host

Membou is one of the most explosive offensive linemen to enter the NFL in recent history with a similar testing profile to Tampa Bay star Tristan Wirfs.

He's a younger player who needs time to develop but the Jets have pumped resources into their O-line and that's always a wise move.

  3. What are the Carolina Panthers' biggest needs?published at 01:58 British Summer Time 25 April

    Pick number eight

The Carolina Panthers weren't just bad on defence last season, they gave up the most points ever in a season.

They also had the lowest quarterback pressure rate so a premium pass rusher is their priority. After Abdul Carter, Jalon Walker is arguably the best option.

  4. Who is Armand Membou?published at 01:57 British Summer Time 25 April

Armand Membou stayed in his home state by committing to Missouri, where he became the regular starter at right tackle in his second year.

In his third and final college season, he did not allow a single sack or quarterback hit in 12 games.

Having just turned 21, he is one of the youngest offensive linemen in this year's draft and is still growing into his 6ft 4in frame.

Although still a little raw, he has demonstrated good movement and maturity, and is seen as having a big upside in terms of potential.

  5. Pick 7 - Jets select Armand Memboupublished at 01:57 British Summer Time 25 April

    Offensive tackle - Missouri

The Jets pick up right tackle Membou from Missouri - who had a nice combine displaying his strength and just how tough he is to get past.

He started 12 games last season and famously did not give up any sacks or even hits on his QB.

  8. 'The next Marshawn Lynch?'published at 01:52 British Summer Time 25 April

BBC Radio Sheffield and NFL on 5 Live host

The player with the best opportunity to be great in this draft, Jeanty runs through contact with ease, has a second gear when he gets into space and you can put the offense on his back.

The Raiders get a brilliant running back who can be Pete Carroll's next Marshawn Lynch.

  9. Postpublished at 01:52 British Summer Time 25 April

NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah on Ashton Jeanty: "He's very slippery and elusive.

"He's just a piece of muscle, there's not a lot of surface to hit on him.

"He's one of the fun players to watch. so just kick your feet up and enjoy."

  10. What are the New York Jets' biggest needs?published at 01:51 British Summer Time 25 April

    Pick number seven

There is a new regime at the New York Jets too, with head coach Aaron Glenn looking to rebuild his roster after chossing to move on from Aaron Rodgers.

Justin Fields has replaced him as their starting quarterback and the Jets could do with a right tackle, so how about Armand Membou?

Fields would also welcome a playmaker at wide receiver or tight end.

  11. Interesting outfits on showpublished at 01:51 British Summer Time 25 April

There have been some flash outfits on the red carpet tonight, but Crocs? Really??

Yes, Ashton Jeanty has gone there.

    Running Back - Boise State

The Heisman Trophy runner-up. Ashton Jeanty ran for 2,601 yards for Boise State last season and is looking to become just the third running back to be chosen in the top 10 of the NFL Draft since 2018 - joining Saquon Barkley and Bijan Robinson.

Many see him as the best overall prospect in the draft, but running back is not usually seen as a massive priority for teams on draft night.

As Saquon Barkley showed last season though, if you get a superstar playmaker in that position it can make a huge difference - and Jeanty certainly has all the ability in the world to wreak havoc in the NFL.

  13. Postpublished at 01:49 British Summer Time 25 April

Mason Graham after being drafted by the Cleveland Browns: "I'm going to do everything I can to put Cleveland back on top.

On being a team-mate of Myles Garrett: "It's such a blessing, he's a fierce competitor and I want to play with guys like that. He's the real deal."

Ashton Jeanty was pagged as a Raider for a while, until the Jaguars became the favourite to pick him - but perhaps Jacksonville were playing mind games all along.

Anyway, Las Vegas were never going to pass on a superstar playmaker like Jeanty, and despite holes elsewhere, the Raiders went with the 'best available' and the Boise State man may just be the biggest talent in the entire draft.

  15. 'Graham a complete defensive tackle'published at 01:48 British Summer Time 25 April

    Rob Staton
BBC Radio Sheffield and NFL on 5 Live host

I loved Mason Graham's tape. He's scrappy and gets off blocks to make plays as a complete defensive tackle.

Last summer there was a feeling he could be the best draft-eligible player. He lacks ideal measurables but he has every chance to be a very good pro.

  16. What are the Las Vegas Raiders' biggest needs?published at 01:45 British Summer Time 25 April

    Pick number six

There is a new regime in place in Sin City, with minority owner Tom Brady having settled in and Pete Carroll returning to the sidelines to become the oldest head coach in NFL history.

His former Seattle quarterback Geno Smith came to Las Vegas during free agency but the Raiders have a host of other needs.

Could it simply be a case of taking the best player left on the board, which is now running back Ashton Jeanty?

Will Campbell had to hold back the tears as he spoke on stage after being selected by the New England Patriots:

"I've worked my entire life to be up here, to be able to get my name called by a franchise like New England. It means everything to me."

"I'd gonna fight and die to protect them (his team-mates), with everything I've got."

  18. Who is Mason Graham?published at 01:44 British Summer Time 25 April

    Defensive lineman - Michigan

Mason Graham was a two-way starter in high school, playing defensive and offensive tackle.

The 21-year-old then committed to Michigan, where he has played solely on the defensive line during his three years, helping the Wolverines become national champions in 2023.

At 6ft 3in and 296lb (134kg), the defensive tackle is deceptively quick to get off the line and disrupt the backfield.

  19. Pick 5 - Browns select Mason Grahampublished at 01:44 British Summer Time 25 April

The Browns pass on Ashton Jeanty and instead look to strengthen on the defensive line with the tough Wolverine Mason Graham.

Cleveland handed out big money to keep Myles Garrett and will help him out a bit with Graham joining the ranks.

It's a big deal for a Michigan man to move to Ohio, but if he peforms in the NFL like he did in college that won't be a problem.

  20. Postpublished at 01:42 British Summer Time 25 April

NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah: "Of all the teams in this draft, for me the tackle need for the Patriots was the most glaring.

"They had to go in this direction. They had to address the offensive line, they had no choice."
