It's another three instead of seven as Tyler Bass boots a 27-yard field goal. Josh Allen was furious as Pat Surtain got away with a pretty obvious holding penalty in the end zone on Dalton Kincaid, but the refs missed it and Buffalo have to settle for a field goal.

  2. Sacked!published at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

Josh Allen is dancing around on third down on the six-yard line, he's got plenty of time but nowhere to go and eventually DJ Jones brings him down for the sack and the Broncos stand firm again inside their own red zone.

Tight end Dawson Knox catches a big 25-yard pass from Josh Allen, followed by a 19-yard run from James Cook as he goes over 100 yards for the game.

Buffalo close in as they dip inside the Denver 10.

This Bills offensive line has started pushing poeple out the way, it's the key. The quarterback was a little shaky, (James Cook) was ready to go, ready to be a battering ram. So the offensive coordinator said let's lean on the running game.

They know this Denver defence wants to attack so you want to sustain drives, go at them, slow them down and wear them down, so second half you can do what you want because you dominated on the line. Allen missed a few throws but the running game was clicking and ticking.

Buffalo get the ball first in the second half, and a lot could rest on how Denver's defence gets on here.

It's a good start for Buffalo as Ty Johnson runs the return back to the 46-yard line.

Bo Nix was comfortable, comfortable with the script, that's why Denver could start fast and just attack this defence.

One thing about Nix is he is highly accurate when his footwork is in place. He was out there delivering big time strikes. He handled the pressure well, dropped back, saw the field.

  7. First half statspublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    Denver Broncos 7-10 Buffalo Bills

Buffalo had the ball for almost twice as long as Denver in the first half, and ran 11 more plays with 35 to 24 by the Broncos.

It's all been on the ground as well, with the Bills running it 22 times against just 12 pass attempts, and Josh Allen has 35 rushing yards and just 61 passing yards.

Bo Nix has been pretty impressive but the major area here is that Buffalo rushing attack - Denver have to find a way to slow that down.

Sean Payton has all the experience in the world, and he's putting that in Bo Nix and the entire team. The Broncos will be well poised to come out and get a stop in the second half to get themselves back into this game, get it tied up or take the lead.

"We've been moving the ball, but beating ourselves with some pre-snap penalties. (We) need to get ourselves on schedule"

So Buffalo escape with a narrow half-time lead after a hugely encouraging Bo Nix drive for Denver came up empty handed, that will be a bitter blow fort Sean Payton as his rookie quarterback moved the ball beautifully in his two-minute drill.

The Bills have dominated the ball and time of possession though so deserve their lead overall, but Denver have shown they can strike quickly - that's a warning for the second half.

  11. Doink!published at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    Denver Broncos 7-10 Buffalo Bills

Will Lutz has plenty of leg for a 50-yarder but he's ever so slightly off target and he hears that dreaded doink as the ball slams into the right upright.

And it was one of the loudest doinks I've heard on a long while - they make their goalposts solid up in Buffalo.

It's a game of inches they say and thos few inches between three points and zero could prove hugely costly for Buffalo at the end of this game.

Great play again from Bo Nix scrambling out to his right before firing down the right sideline to Cortland Sutton who takes another nice catch down at the Buffalo 32 yard line.

So Will Lutz can try a 50-yard field goal.

We're inside the final minute and Denver hurrying around trying to move quickly - Bo Nix scramble for a first down then throws for another to Cortland Sutton with an expert grab on the left sideline.

They're only on their own 31 though so a long way to go to get into field goal range around about the Buffalo 35/40.

Marvin Mims is absolutely smoked by Mack Hollins as he gather in the punt - and a bit of handbags breaks out between the two sets of players.

Eventually Mims gets called for a penalty - a bit harsh as he's done much and also just got crunched with a massive tackle, so you'd expect he'd be a bit ticked off.

It's huge from Zack Allen. Second down, makes it third and long, helping them get off the football field. He won his one-on-one at the end of the day. That's what you have to do as a defensive lineman, helps you take over a game.

There's a bit of Allen on Allen phsyicality here as Denver's Zach Allen sacks Buffalo Josh Allen for a loss of eight yards. It was already a second-and-13 so Buffalo are now facing a third-and-21.

That's just the second sack on Josh Allen in the last eight games - again as we talked about earlier his offensive line has been huge for him this season.

  19. Burrowing Buffalopublished at 18:58 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    Denver Broncos 7-10 Buffalo Bills

Buffalo are backed up on their own line but they burrow their way out of bother with their physical running style, James Cook doing most of the damage and then another Josh Allen QB sneak getting the first down.

It looks ease but it's very much not - it's a really impressive ground game they've got in Buffalo.

This is exactly who Sean Payton is, he will find any opportunity to steal a possession. That's one of the things that makes him so terrific.

This is what I love about special teams, you spend so long studying other teams. The teams that are situationally aware and have a lot of emphasis on special teams come up with moments like this.
