Open 2014: Graeme McDowell aiming to play leading role again

Graeme McDowell recalls leading at the Open on the last occasion it was staged at Hoylake.

The Northern Irishman had a 66 in the first round at Royal Liverpool in 2006, but ended up in joint 31st place.

"I was inexperienced and got caught up in the hype. Eight years later, I realise majors are marathons," he said.
