    Beterbiev v Bivol 2

    Barry Jones
Former world champion on 5 Live Boxing

One fighter moves around with grace and flair, and the other one is menacing, but they're both as effective and clever as each other. It's the best fight you could make in boxing once again.

I thought Bivol just nicked the first fight, and I think the same will happen again. I think Bivol wins, but I won't be shocked if it goes the other way.

  2. Predictions - 'Beterbiev can do it again'published at 22:49 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Beterbiev v Bivol 2

Heavyweight Delicious Orie: "Beterbiev does it again. They are both so experienced but Beterbiev has that power and raw strength to push his opponent back."

Swedish fighter Otto Wallin: "Really tough to call, It's a 50/50 fight. The first fight was close and I'm sure this one will be as well but Beterbiev got the win the first time so I'm sure he can do it again."

Not a fan of Dubios but he would finish Parker inside 3. Bakole is a big hitter but cannot take a punch. Parker still 2nd tier heavyweight.

    Beterbiev v Bivol 2

A graph comparing punch stats when Artur Beterbiev fought Dmitry Bivol

There was a huge amount of hype and expectation when Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol stepped into a ring together for the first time in October and their bout did not disappoint.

Beterbiev won on points by a narrow margin, with one judge scoring the contest a 114-114 draw and the other scorecards reading 115-113 and 116-112 in the 40-year-olds favour.

It was an intriguing back-and-forth fight with Beterbiev enjoying success to the body and landing more power punches in the second half of the night.

Bivol leant heavily on his jab and movement. His accuracy with total punches landed was better than Beterbiev's in every single round.

The pace was high throughout the 12 rounds and the numbers show that:

    • 1,105 combined punches thrown
    • 137 punches landed for Bivol, 137 for Beterbiev
    • 90 power shots for Bivol, 84 for Beterbiev

That said, Bivol was more accurate in his punching landing 34% overall and 50% of his power shots, while Beterbiev managed 20% overall and 29% of his power shots.

  6. Britons fall short in world-title bidspublished at 22:42 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    BBC Sport boxing reporter

Hamzah Sheeraz's world title challenge ended in disappointment but the Briton was fortunate to claim a draw against WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames in Saudi Arabia.

A cautious Sheeraz – who was on a 15-fight knockout streak – never really found his rhythm and seemed reluctant to let his hands go.

Adames produced the cleaner and more varied work, the volume of punches and fluidity. The Dominican, 30, retained his belt but can feel unlucky with a split-decision draw.

The three judges in Riyadh scored it 118-110 to Adames, 115-114 to Sheeraz and 114-114.

What a finish from the most active heavyweight in the division. Handled his deserved title shot being taken away from him with class. Never backs away from anyone. He should have been crowned champion tonight.

It is the mark of a man who can turn up with that little notice and step in the ring with Parker. All credit where it's due to Parker, he dispatched Bakole in the way you have to dispatch a late replacement.

    Parker beats Bakole by knockout

Fair play to Martin Bakole for stepping in on such short notice but he was up against a top operator and a man in Joseph Parker who has ambitions to a two-time heavyweight champion.

Bakole clearly has power and might have stood a chance with a full training camp but he wasn't at the right level tonight.

That's a second career loss for Bakole.

I always thought Parker was going to do the business, but I didn't think it would be that quickly. Parker can bang, Parker can really, really punch. The speed of Parker, Bakole couldn't move away quick enough.

That was classic Bakole, that's what he does. He stands menacingly in front of you, and he lets those big shots go. He's so much faster than he looks.
