Devon beat rivals Cornwall by five wickets in a last-over thriller in the Minor Counties Championship at Exeter.

Cornwall made 246 in their second innings, with Tom Hughes hitting 70, to set Devon 248 to win in 65 overs.

Seb Benton hit 50 and David Lye 48 in Devon's run chase but at 174-5 with only 14 overs remaining the result looked in the balance.

But Josh Bess (68no) and Matt Golding (36no) put on an unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 74 to steer Devon to victory.

Cornwall are next in action on Sunday when they take on Berkshire at Newbury in the MCCA Trophy quarter-final.
