Whisper it, but, England are doing this easily at the moment.

  2. Eng 48-0published at 5 overs

Five overs in and England are doing pretty well in terms of sticking at the required run-rate.

Australia were much further ahead at this point, at 70-1, but England don't have to be that high this early to win this, given their start.

Australia have offered some gifts to England and, at the moment, they are accepting them.

  4. Eng 48-0published at 4.5 overs

Pat Cummins had started really tidily, doing well to shackle Salt.

It was always going to be tough to keep him down for long and a wider ball from Cummins is slashed away for four down to the boundary rope at the vacant third man.

This is how it stands at the moment.

Australia have telegraphed what they want to do and Josh Hazlewood hasn't bowled on leg stump and to his field. He's given Phil Salt width and he's found the boundary twice.

  7. Eng 40-0published at 4 overs

England needed essentially 10 an over going into this innings. Nine came from that one and across this whole innings, it is bang on 10 so far.

    Consistent and untroubled so far.

Pat Cummins comes into the attack for this next over.

Phil Salt is doing the job for England at the moment.

  9. Eng 39-0published at 3.5 overs

Almost an identical shot from Salt, cut again for four off Hazlewood and adjusting to the height of the delivery and bounce well.

This shot was more towards deep backward point, but as far as runs scored are concerned, it is the same result.

  10. Eng 35-0published at 3.3 overs

Phil Salt finds four to break two dot balls with a lovely cut shot through point that cruises away for four.

England do not need to worry about trying to thump every ball, but one or two big shots an over go a long way.

Hazlewood will be disappointed at that one.

There haven't been too many alarms for England yet.

  12. Eng 31-0published at 3 overs

Jos Buttler ends that over a pummelling drive through mid-wicket to the rope.

Initial thoughts were that it went all the way, but the ball stopped fractionally short before crashing into the rope.

A 13-run over for England, one good over to chalk off what is required from them.

Phil Salt knows what Mitchell Starc is trying to do here so he's able to stay still and wait for the ball to come to him.

That was a top-tier shot. It was a huge shot.

  15. 6 runs

    Eng 25-0published at 2.3 overs

All the way into the top tier of the stands from Phil Salt.

Over wide long on, that is a big shot from Salt. He uses the pace from Starc and a flick of the wrists sends it well over the rope.

There's scoreboard pressure on England, but they have plenty of time and plenty of shots like that in their locker.

It feels a long way off for England at the moment. It feels like a lot of runs on this surface.

  17. Eng 18-0published at 2 overs

Just a single ends that over, but 12 come from it in total, which will be pleasing for England.

They do need more than 10 an over from here, so another several overs like that last one will really help, but it is not a simple task against a star-studded Australia side.

  18. Eng 17-0published at 1.5 overs

Four more from Buttler. This time, a pull shot to pounce on a shorter ball from Hazlewood.

A slight step down the track, but it is aggressive, on the front foot and very positive from the England captain.

  19. Eng 11-0published at 1.3 overs

Josh Hazlewood is the man joining Mitchell Starc in this bowling attack for Australia.

The second ball of the over kept really low and Jos Buttler will be vary of that.

In response, Buttler charges down the track and drives through the covers for four and his first runs of the day.

Starc does lose his line with the swing quite often, because he's bowling it so full and looking for late movement.
