Phil Salt's innings included a couple of brilliant sixes, including this.

  3. Eng 76-1published at 8 overs

The loss of Salt, when was looking in fine touch, is a blow.

What is perhaps more damaging is just three runs coming from the over.

Still, they are only fractionally behind the rate and, of course, Will Jacks has just come to the crease.

It is an excellent delivery from Adam Zampa, it is pushed through, causing Phil Salt to play with a cross-bat.

    Salt b Zampa 37 (Eng 73-1)

    Zampa strikes instantly!

Steven Finn called that one. Salt waited, but did not get hold of that ball at all and it cuts through the England opener and onto his off stump.

The experienced Zampa strikes and breaks what had been a brilliant opening stand for England.

It feels like Adam Zampa will have a huge say in this game.

  9. Eng 73-0published at 7 overs

Two singles for England end the over and 19 runs come from it in total, excellent batting on display.

Next up, a first bit of spin in the form of Adam Zampa.

I think the wind has picked up even more. It's still blowing across the ground to that short side.

  11. Eng 71-0published at 6.4 overs

Four more from the England skipper, driving the ball past Starc and to the rope the four.

Already, 17 runs from this over with two balls to come.

That is excellent from Jos Buttler. He was hitting with the wind and it is interesting that they've opted to bowl Mitchell Starc here, outside the powerplay, when he hasn't looked that threatening so far.

  13. 6 runs

    Eng 67-0published at 6.3 overs

Another one, this time from Jos Buttler, and England have been punishing Mitchell Starc.

A shorter ball leads to Buttler using the height and lofting it well into the stands over deep mid-wicket for a maximum.

  15. 6 runs

    Eng 60-0published at 6.1 overs

Phil Salt starts this return from the other end for Mitchell Starc by flicking away for six.

Travis Head takes the catch, but he is clearly stood on the boundary rope and six runs are given.

Here's how the worm looks after the powerplay.

England are 20 runs behind where Australia were, but they have two more wickets in hand.

Not letting the required run-rate get too high is going to be the real challenge for England, especially now as the powerplay ends and more fielders can go out.

How do England find the boundaries?

  18. Eng 54-0published at 6 overs

England end that over and the powerplay a bit oddly.

Just six runs come from the over.

A mix-up almost catches Phil Salt off guard, but he is safe, before Jos Buttler is caught behind, although it was a tame appeal and the umpires remain unmoved.

There were seven sixes in Australia's first five overs. Just the one in England's.

  20. Eng 52-0published at 5.2 overs

Jos Buttler brings up England's 50 with a lovely cover drive, looping over the fielder at cover off the second ball of this first over from Marcus Stoinis.

Milestones like that for this partnership are only going to help and Salt and Buttler have played good shots consistently, without ever looking like it is forced.
