  1. 6 runs

    AUS 69-1 (target 155)published at 4.2 overs

    And again!

This might be even bigger from Mitch Marsh. It's too short from Jarvis and the Aussie skipper says 'thank you very much'.

  2. 6 runs

    AUS 63-1 (target 155)published at 4.1 overs

Mitch Marsh gets in on the act, smashing a short ball from Jack Jarvis into the tennis courts next to the ground.

    Fetch.

  3. 6 runs

    AUS 57-1 (target 155)published at 4 overs

This is an absolute clinic from Travis Head.

Three fours and a gorgeous six fly off the left-hander's bat from Charlie Cassell's first over.

  5. 6 runs

    AUS 38-1 (target 155)published at 3 overs

Travis Head continues on his merry way, smashing four back over Brandon McMullen's head before another six over the leg-side.

He has 33 from 12 balls.

  6. 6 runs

    AUS 28-1 (target 155)published at 2.2 overs

Four more to Travis Head before the off-side before a huge six over square-leg.

If he keeps going like this, it'll be over quickly.

  7. Aus 18-1 (target 155)published at 2 overs

Travis Head crunches three boundaries through the off-side, the second of which was just wide of Richie Berrington at short cover.

Hits the ball seriously hard does the left-hander.

  8. Aus 5-1 (target 155)published at 1 over

Something of a gamble from Scotland skipper Richie Berrington to start with Brandon McMullen's away-swingers, but it's more than justified with that wicket.

It'll be Brad Wheal from the Inverleith Park end.

  9. Aus 4-1 (target 155)published at 0.4 overs

McMullen draws a false shot from Marsh first up, but it's just wide of Brad Wheal at short third and goes for four.

  10. wicket

    WICKET Fraser-McGurk c Cassell b McMullen 0published at 0.3 overs

    Aus 0-1 (target 155)

A dream start to this chase for Scotland as Australia's very talented debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk skies one straight up into the Edinburgh sky.

Charlie Cassell settles under it and takes a good catch.

Mitch Marsh is in at three.

The players are back out at the Grange, and I'll hand you back over to George O'Neill.

  13. Postpublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 4 September

    Scotland 154-9 v Australia

Scotland will have fancied a few more runs there, but some big hits - including this from Jack Jarvis - helped them to a respectable target.

  14. Hosting Australia 'a great opportunity' for Scotlandpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 4 September

    Sco 154-9 (Aus need 155)

We spoke to Cricket Scotland CEO Trudy Lindblade yesterday, here's what she had to say: "I'm really excited to have Australia in Edinburgh. It's a great opportunity to host one of the giants, and an opportunity for us to show what we're made of.

"We've demonstrated our on-field performances in 2024. If you think back to that match at the World Cup, we pushed it to the wire. Off the field, it's an opportunity to provide to thousands of cricket fans in Scotland to see their side play one of the best teams in the world.

"We need to work with the ICC to make sure we're getting in front of the full members and capitalising on these opportunities.

"Why wouldn't you want to come to Scotland? You can play great cricket against a high-performing team, and also do the other wonderful things - golf courses, whiskey, etc. It's a great opportunity to showcase that we are ready to host full members."

  15. Scotland set Australia 155 to winpublished at 20 overs

Brad Wheal just nicks it past the keeper for a four off his first ball. Much needed.

The final ball comes through to the keeper and Scotland run. It's a direct hit, but it's not out. A nice little extra after a tough innings.

George Munsey high-scored with 28. You'd want Scotland to have a few much higher scores, but they've not disgraced themselves by any means.

A target of 155 for Australia, when we come back after the interval.

  16. wicket

WICKET Cassell c Marsh b Abbott 1published at 19.2 overs

    SCO 144-9

Some more fiery pace from Sean Abbott and Charlie Cassell skies it high into the blue.

It might be safe, Mitchell Marsh is running... and he's got it!

He skins his knees on the wicket as he dives for it. Pretty clinical fielding from the visitors today.

  17. SCO 143-8published at 18.5 overs

Jasper Davidson ducks out of the way of a rocket from Riley Meredith. He's getting pelters from the travelling support, who accuse him of being scared.

    I don't blame him.

That said, he fends away the next one bravely.

Riley Meredith is fielding in front of some well-oiled Australian fans who must have started drinking very early this morning.

It appears they are students in these parts, as they are telling the Aussie bowler where's best for an Edinburgh night out on a Wednesday.

  19. wicket

WICKET Watt c Stoinis b Meredith 16published at 18.2 overs

    SCO 141-8

A swat away from Mark Watt travels at pace, but somehow Marcus Stoinis gobbles it. Another great catch from the Australians.

We predicted pre-game Scotland would need at least 200. Hmm.

  20. wicket

WICKET Jarvis c Green b Abbott 10published at 17.5 overs

    SCO 139-7

Jack Jarvis tries to smack Abbott over his head but doesn't fully connect and it goes into the sky. Big Cam Green is underneath it, and it's a great catch with the sun in his eyes.

    Another big hitter goes.

Scotland-born, Australia-raised Charlie Cassell comes in.
