  1. wicket

WICKET Bedingham b Allison 21published at 11:50 British Summer Time 30 June

    Durham 39-3 v Worcs

The bowling change has worked and it's a big, big wicket.

Ben Allison comes on to replace Nathan Smith and strikes with just his fifth ball.

David Bedingham decides to leave a delivery which angled back into the right-hander and hit the top of off.

Ollie Robinson joins Alex Lees with Durham in a hole and the Pears right on top.

  2. Postpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 34-1

No. He's fine. Craig Overton is back to resume his spell.

He bowls round the wicket from the Pavilion End and Rob Yates pushes the ball into cover for one.

Will Rhodes is undone by late movement from Overton as he prods forward and misses outside the off stump.

Batting looks like hard work currently.

  3. wicket

WICKET Wells b Paterson 7published at 11:46 British Summer Time 30 June

    Lancashire 26-1 v Notts

    Gone!

A cracker from Dane Paterson sees the back of Luke Wells.

The Lancashire opener tries to get a big stride in to the South Africa seamer who is coming round the wicket, but is perhaps caught slightly off balance as the ball gets past the bat and removes the off-bail.

  4. Postpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 33-1

Craig Overton pitches it up and swings the ball away from Rob Yates to complete a maiden over.

Migael Pretorius is leg side to Will Rhodes, who clips the ball away for two.

Shoaib Bashir is on the field as a substitute for Craig Overton.

There's no indication of an injury though.

Pretorius beats Will Rhodes for pace outside off.

  5. Postpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 30 June

    Lancashire 26-0 v Notts

Dillon Pennington is continuing and he bowls a tidy maiden over to Keaton Jennings.

The new England call-up has given up just three runs from his five overs so far.

One of the great things is that Pennington looks like a fast bowler - tall, strapping, long run up, all big ticks!

  6. 'Festival days are in County Cricket fabric'published at 11:43 British Summer Time 30 June

    Lancashire 26-0 Nottinghamshire

    David Lloyd
Former England batsman on BBC Radio Lancashire

Festival cricket is superb and you'd call this a festival ground.

Cheltenham was always absolutely gorgeous. Back in the day a long time it was wonderful to play at Tunbridge Wells.

It's just part of County Cricket and it's in the fabric of County Cricket that we have festival days.

  7. Different gravypublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 30 June

    Durham 37-2 v Worcs

    David BedinghamImage source, Getty Images

David Bedingham looks to be playing on a different pitch to everyone else.

Tom Taylor has been a handful, but the Durham number four punches the fifth ball of his fourth over effortlessly with a slightly closed bat face.

It absolutely races away through midwicket to the rope.

In the next over Nathan Smith strays onto his pads a little and Bedingham flicks it away for his fourth boundary to move onto 17 from 18 balls.

Smith then gets partial revenge as he beats the bat as Bedingham shapes to drive. The batter gives a little nod to the bowler.

He then repeats the trick with the next two balls but then punches a second boundary of the over - and his 100th first-class boundary of the season.

  8. rain stops play

Rain stops play at the Ovalpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 30 June

    Surrey 8-0 v Essex

If anything, the rain has got heavier and now the full set of covers are on the square.

    Sigh.

Let me know when summer comes back.

  9. Postpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 30 June

    Lancashire 26-0 v Notts

Thankfully, we have the ball back in Southport.

Openers Luke Wells and Keaton Jennings will be quite happy with how they are coping with the Notts attack so far.

  10. Postpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 31-1

It's a bit grey here in Taunton, but the rain appears to be confined to Southampton and London so far.

Good over from Craig Overton, a tad back of a length and swinging the ball in. Just one single off that over.

Migael Pretorius will take over from Josh Davey at the River End.

Did we mention is was County Championship Day today? The clubs are raising the profile of English cricket's oldest professional competition with reduced ticket prices and in some instances free entry.

Maiden over from Migael Pretorius, bowling length on a tight off stump line.

  11. 'Can we have our ball back?'published at 11:35 British Summer Time 30 June

    Lancashire 21-0 v Notts

    David Lloyd
Former England batsman on BBC Radio Lancashire

We've lost a ball. Now this is proper festival cricket.

It's been flicked down leg-side, hit a barrier and it's jumped up into somebody's garden.

Can we have our ball back?

  12. Division Two latestpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 30 June

    #bbccricket

We have an early wicket in all but one of our Division Two matches this morning.

Gloucestershire lost Aussie opener Cameron Bancroft for a two-ball duck to Glamorgan strike bowler Timm van der Gugten but Oliver Price and Ben Charlesworth have taken them to 14-1.

Ben Coad removed Derbyshire opener Mitchell Wagstaff for just two and the hosts have moved on to 24-1 against Yorkshire at Queen's Park.

Middlesex had early joy at Leicester as Toby Roland-Jones dismissed Rishi Patel for four and Sol Budinger fell to Ryan Higgins to reduce the hosts to 17-2.

But leaders Sussex have got through the opening half-hour unscathed on 21-0 against Northants with Tom Haines and Dan Hughes unbeaten.

  13. 'The wicket keeper and slips are too deep'published at 11:32 British Summer Time 30 June

    Lancashire 21-0 v Notts

    David Lloyd
Former England batsman on BBC Radio Lancashire

My first thoughts is that the wicket keeper and slips are too deep and on a number or occasions Joe Clarke has taken the ball at around shin high.

There's been one nick off Dillon Pennington which fell just short to second slip and that's telling you that they are too deep.

  14. Postpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 30-1

Shot! Will Rhodes tucks Josh Davey off the hip and the ball beats Jack Leach to the square leg rope for four.

Davey squares Will Rhodes up next ball as the batter plays and misses outside off.

A couple of runs clipped into the on side, picked up by Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

This Taunton wicket looks decidedly emerald green, but low scoring games are a rarity here.

Let's see where we are when the new ball softens.

  15. Postpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 22-1

Three runs to Rob Yates, who follows up a play and miss outside off with three driven through mid off.

Craig Overton bowls a very full line thereafter to Will Rhodes, who defends into the off side.

  16. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 30 June

    Hampshire 19-0 v Kent

Bad news from Junction 7 of the M27.

The players are coming off as rain stops play with Hampshire going nicely.

  17. Pennington watchpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 30 June

    Lancashire 17-0 v Notts

Dillon Pennington has sent down two overs this morning and only given up a couple of singles.

Pennington has taken 29 wickets at a little over 23 in his seven Championship games since moving from Worcestershire during the winter.

Only Essex's Jamie Porter has taken more wickets in Division One.

He claimed his first five-for for Notts against Somerset last week and he is already steaming in this morning.

For those unfamiliar, Pennington is a hit-the-pitch type bowler who can make life uncomfortable for batters.

  18. wicket

WICKET Davies c Abell b Davey 9published at 11:22 British Summer Time 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 19-1

Short and wide from Josh Davey, allowing Alex Davies to cut square for four runs.

Four slips are in for the bowler, who tries to tempt Davies with a length ball outside off but the Bears opener leaves it.

    Got him this time!

A bit shorter, angling in and Davies is caught on the crease, fencing to Tom Abell at first slip.

Will Rhodes is in at three. Apparently he's played 84 consecutive County Championship matches! Who knew?

Well, BBC commentator Anthony Gibson and his statistician did.

  19. Postpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 30 June

    Durham 12-2 v Worcs

David Bedingham is the Championship's leading run scorer this season with 888 runs and is off the mark first ball with a boundary.

Tom Taylor won't mind that too much, though, as the ball flies past gully on its way to the rope.

Can the South African get to the 1,000 mark in this contest?
