  2. Lunch at Utilita Bowlpublished at 13:23 30 June

    Hampshire 37-2 v Kent

A tale of two mini sessions this morning at the Utilita Bowl.

Hampshire were 19-0 when the rain came but lots Fletcha Middleton and Nick Gubbins after the resumption.

Those two wickets will give Kent heart going into lunch as they will want to get through the rest of the Hants batting as quickly as possible after winning the toss.

  3. 'Somerset will be happy with their morning's efforts'published at 13:22 30 June

    Lunch: Somerset v Warwickshire 97-4

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

With half-an-hour or so to go before lunch, Somerset skipper Craig Overton prompted the umpires to change the ball, with Warwickshire four down and in all sorts of trouble.

Since then, the ball has hardly moved off the straight, Will Rhodes and Ed Barnard taking their partnership on to 57 and in no trouble at all.

Another curiosity is that Migael Pretorius, who took three of the four early wickets, has bowled only four overs.

But despite all of that, Somerset will be happy with their morning's efforts overall, and Overton's decision to insert after winning the toss has been amply justified.

  4. Vintage Vincepublished at 13:18 30 June

    Hampshire 36-2 v Kent

Charlie Stobo goes too short to James Vince and it gets the treatment as Vince pulls it for four.

The naural reaction is to then go a touch full, but don't bowl there to Vince as that is effortlessly driven to the fence. Vintage stuff.

But that is a good comeback from Stobo as he gets one to move away from the right-hander, albeit it from back of a length.

  5. 'A horrible morning for Durham'published at 13:14 30 June

    Lunch: Durham 101-5 v Worcs

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It's been a really horrible morning for Durham in gloomy conditions on a track that's nipping around.

It's been really difficult conditions for Durham.

  6. 'Sam Northeast’s decision to bowl first has paid off'published at 13:10 30 June

    Lunch: Gloucestershire 88-8 v Glamorgan

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Timm van der Gugten led the way as Sam Northeast’s decision to bowl first paid off handsomely on the first day of the Cheltenham Festival.

Van der Gugten found the edge of Cameron Bancroft’s bat second ball to set the tone under cloudy skies, claiming two for nine in his first seven hostile overs.

Dan Douthwaite had the benefit of two dismissals caught behind down leg side, and Andy Gorvin bowled James Bracey off his thigh-pad.

Miles Hammond and the aggressive Beau Webster threatened a mini rival but Van der Gugten returned to dismiss both after a stand of 36.

Marnus Labuschagne also claimed a rare seam bowling wicket to leave the home side in tatters.

  7. WICKET Gubbins b Stobo 1published at 13:05 30 June

    Hampshire 24-2 v Kent

Delight for Charlie Stobo. Despair for Nick Gubbins.

The Hampshire number three is on his way as Gubbins is bowled behind his legs.

The left-hander shuffles across a touch too far to the Australian right-armer, coming over the wicket and he hears that horrible sound of ball against wickets.

  8. 'Lunch will be at 13:20'published at 13:05 30 June

    Hampshire 24-1 v Kent

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

An hour and 20 minutes lost this morning due to light rain.

Lunch will now be taken 20 minutes later at 13:20.

The pitch is doing a little bit, not sure it's doing loads.

There's just enough, there's a hint for the bowlers that there's a little bit of seam movement but it's not extravagant.

  9. Lunch at Southportpublished at 13:04 30 June

    Lancashire 59-1 v Notts

The end of a slightly-shortened first session at a grey Trafalgar Road.

Lancashire have lost Luke Wells, bowled by Dane Paterson, but they will be quietly satisfied with their progress having been asked to bat by Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed.

No Jimmy Anderson but Dillon Pennington has impressed with some accurate stuff bowled at a good lick.

  10. Lunch at Chester le Streetpublished at 13:03 30 June

    Durham 101-5 v Worcs

Graham Clark survives three balls and that's lunch.

That wicket in the final over before lunch has just swung things back towards the visitors.

Worcestershire were cock-a-hoop when they reduced the hosts to 55-4 having won the toss and bowling in helpful conditions.

Ben Stokes and Ollie Robinson looked to have changed the momentum with a 46-run partnership before Nathan Smith ripped out Robinson's middle stump.

  11. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:02 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 97-4

Loose shot from Will Rhodes, who tries to slash a wide one through cover and misses.

He connects with the second ball though, carving it through cover for four and that brings up a 50 partnership with Ed Barnard in 77 balls.

A short ball is guided wide of the slips to third for four more.

The fourth ball is clipped to square leg for one and Ed Barnard sees out the over defending into point.

    That's lunch.

A crucial fifth wicket stand for the Bears after losing all four of their wickets to date in 15 overs.

Migael Pretorius was the pick of the Somerset attack with 3-12 in six overs.

But how will Somerset fare this afternoon with an older ball on a true surface that belies a green tinge?

  12. 'Jennings looks a class player'published at 12:59 30 June

    Lancashire 58-1 v Notts

    David Lloyd
Former England batsman on BBC Radio Lancashire

Keaton Jennings is a consistent run scorer. He had opportunities with England.

He looks a class player to me.

He churns them out. He gets big scores.

  13. Division Two latestpublished at 12:59 30 June

    #bbccricket

A third wicket for Timm van der Gugten has Gloucestershire in all kinds of trouble as they are now 86-6 against Glamorgan.

Australian all-rounder Beau Webster is 18 not out and probably the last hope of dragging his side to a reasonable score.

Who do Middlesex turn to when they need inspiration? Ryan Higgins, of course, and his second wicket has Leicestershire 94-4, with Lewis Goldsworthy still there on 34.

Sussex are 92-3 with Northants captain Luke Procter backing up the wicket of Dan Hughes by removing James Coles.

  14. WICKET Robinson b Smith 35published at 12:58 30 June

    Durham 101-5 v Worcs

    Now that's a stunner!

Durham were just beginning to look well set as Ben Stokes and Ollie Robinson took their fifth-wicket partnership to 46 runs.

But moments before lunch Nathan Smith sends down a jaffa which nips back and beats Robinson between bat and pad and crashes into middle stump.

It keeps a little low, but it's a super ball.

    Graham Clark joins Stokes.

  15. Postpublished at 12:56 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 88-4

Tom Banton is staying on the filed after that crash landing while fielding at mid off.

Craig Overton is down the leg side to Ed Barnard and that's a good diving take from keeper James Rew.

The third ball is driven through wide mid off for four, just beating a diving Tom Banton to the rope.

  16. Postpublished at 12:53 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 84-4

One more run to long leg scored by Barnard, this time off the bowling of Kasey Aldridge.

Will Rhodes drives through the off side and that's a great diving stop by Tom Banton.

He landed hard on his knee and thigh though and may come off shortly to be checked over.

Width and slashed through point by Will Rhodes for four.

  17. 'Joe Clarke would have got a mention for England'published at 12:52 30 June

    Lancashire 51-1 v Notts

    David Lloyd
Former England batsman on BBC Radio Lancashire

I'm looking at the England wicketkeeper situation and they have got Jamie Smith in the team.

There must have been contenders. They're looking for an aggressive number seven batter who can keep wicket.

So Ollie Robinson at Durham was in there and Joe Clarke would have got a mention. I saw James Rew get a wonderful 100 at Old Trafford.

The wicketkeeper is always a good debate, it gets a reaction that Ben Foakes is a wonderful glove man and he's the best in the world, but I can see what they are trying to do in balancing the team.

  18. WICKET Middleton c Finch b Stewart 13published at 12:52 30 June

    Hampshire 19-1 v Kent

Good news for Kent after the resumption.

They dry up the runs to the Hampshire openers with three straight maidens and that pressure tells as Fletcha Middleton nibbles at one from Grant Stewart and nicks off.

Can the bottom side grab another wicket before lunch?

  19. 100 up for Durhampublished at 12:51 30 June

    Durham 100-4 v Worcs

Nathan Smith goes wide of off-stump, but Ben Stokes stretches and gets enough bat on it to steer the ball for four.

That brings up three figures for Durham midway through the 25th morning.

Momentum seems to be shifting before lunch.

  20. 50 up for Lancashirepublished at 12:50 30 June

    Lancashire 51-1 v Notts

Josh Bohannon steers one past point from Olly Stone to pick up a couple of runs and help the Lancashire total tick past 50.
