  1. Bad light stops play at the Riversidepublished at 16:45 30 June

    Durham 190 v Worcs 69-2

The floodlights have been off an on for most of the day.

But now the umpires Steve O'Shaughnessy and Surendiran Shanmugam decide the floodlights have taken effect too much in the gloom and have taken the players off for bad light.

You just can't trust a British summer can you?

We have 32 overs still scheduled - nominally a full session.

  2. Jennings into 90spublished at 16:44 30 June

    Lancashire 182-4

Keaton Jennings is into the nineties.

Again Olly Stone gets his line wrong from round the wicket and it is meat and drink for Jennings to send to the fine leg fence.

The Lancashire captain is 10 away from his fourth ton of the season.

  3. Postpublished at 16:43 30 June

    Surrey 136-4 v Essex

Shot! Sai Sudhardan carves Shane Snater through point on the back foot for four and gets four more in the next over with a gorgeous drive to long on all along the turf off Eathan Bosch.

Good start by Surrey since the tea break.

  4. Postpublished at 16:39 30 June

    Durham 190 v Worcs 66-2

After his dramatic first over, Ben Stokes is growing a tad frustrated as his line errs.

His fourth ball is full and wide and is punished by Rob Jones who guides it to the deep cover boundary and goes to 15 at quicker than a run a ball.

The last ball is even wider and draws a few words that we couldn't possibly repeat to a late afternoon audience.

  5. WICKET Barnard b Leach 92published at 16:37 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 244-7

Michael Burgess had just moved to an 87-ball 50 that included five fours and a six, going back and across to Jack Leach to hit through the off side.

But now he's lost his seventh wicket batting partner.

Ed Barnard is back and across, shaping to hit Leach through cover and the ball misses the bat and strikes the top of middle and off.

    Chris Woakes is in next.

  6. 50 partnershippublished at 16:35 30 June

    Lancashire 170-4 v Notts

Keaton Jennings pushes one out towards the vacant point and that single allows him to reach 80.

It is also a 50 partnership between him and George Balderson for the fifth wicket.

Given that Notts won the toss, the Red Rose are possibly just on top as things stand.

  7. 50 for Jamie Smithpublished at 16:33 30 June

    Surrey 123-4 v Essex

The half century comes in 70 balls with and he's played slightly within himself to suit the tense match situation.

He reaches the landmark with his ninth four, driven smoothly through mid off facing Eathan Bosch.

That's his sixth score of 50 or more this season in nine matches with a top score of 155 made at home to Warwickshire last month.

  8. Postpublished at 16:32 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 236-6

This session is getting away from Somerset, who concede 10 runs off the second over since tea, bowled by Kasey Aldridge.

The bowler bangs one in halfway down the track but the ball hardly gets up at all and is slammed through mid wicket for four by Michael Burgess.

Four more pulled to fine leg off a wide, back of a length ball.

The Andy Umeed experiment ends after one over and Jack Leach restores a bit of calm with a much better line and length, conceding just a single.

  9. 'An immediate impact from Stokes'published at 16:31 30 June

    Durham 190 v Worcs 54-2

    Trevor Owens
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

It was a nice height for Alex Lees but it was travelling and that's the end of Jake Libby.

An immediate impact from Ben Stokes.

Yet another bowler with a wicket in their first over.

Libby will be disappointed with that.

  10. Play resumes at Utilita Bowlpublished at 16:31 30 June

    Hampshire 160-3 v Kent

Will Daniel Bell-Drummond have delivered a rocket to his Kent bowlers over the tea break?

If they don't find two or three wickets in this session, they will fall behind the eight ball in this game.

  11. Teatime scorespublished at 16:30 30 June

    #bbccricket

It's been a moveable feast, with tea taken early at some grounds and a touch late at others, but here's a look at how things stood at the break.

    Division One

    Chester-le-Street: Durham 190 v Worcestershire

    Southampton: Hampshire 160-3 v Kent

    Southport: Lancashire 150-4 v Nottinghamshire

    Taunton: Somerset v Warwickshire 214-6

The Oval: Surrey 109-4 v Essex

    Division Two

    Chesterfield: Derbyshire 76 v Yorkshire 81-2

    Cheltenham: Gloucestershire 179 v Glamorgan 49-1

    Leicester: Leicestershire 179 v Middlesex 33-3

    Northampton: Northamptonshire 82-5 v Sussex 143

  12. Postpublished at 16:29 30 June

    Lancashire 169-4 v Notts

Olly Stone is far too straight to George Balderson.

Coming round the wicket, anything too straight or on legside and it's easy pickings for left-handed Balderson as there are successive boundaries.

One is given as leg byes, the other as four through deep square but it is eight more runs to the total.

  13. Postpublished at 16:29 30 June

    Surrey 115-4 v Essex

Eathan Bosch has had part of his hand taped up by the physio and completes his over.

Shane Snater will bowl at the other end and starts with a ball wide of leg, picked up well by keeper Michael Pepper.

The rest of the over is better, inducing Sai Sudhardan to play across the line a couple of times for no run.

    Maiden over.

  14. WICKET Libby c Lees b Stokes 13published at 16:26 30 June

    Durham 190 v Worcs 50-2

    The man makes things happen.

Ben Stokes is introduced and a loosener almost picks up a wicket first ball as Kashif Ali's aims a square drive at a wide delivery.

He almost picks out a diving Bas de Leede who can't hold on.

His second ball is better, outside off stump, and catches Jake Libby in two minds.

The Worcs opener tries to draw his bat away but gets an edge and Alex Lees does the rest at third slip.

    Incredible!

    Rob Jones is in.

  15. Umeed punished for dropping shortpublished at 16:25 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 225-6

An expensive first over of the session after tea.

11 runs come from it - including an almighty heave over mid wicket by Michael Burgess for six runs.

Horrid delivery, really. It landed about halfway down the pitch.

  16. Postpublished at 16:24 30 June

    Durham 190 v Worcs 49-1

This has been a wonderful start from Worcestershire.

Not great use of the conditions from the opening bowlers, though.

Kashif Ali is offered more width, this time from Matthew Potts, and his flashing blade sends it through point for another boundary.

Peter Siddle replaces an expensive Ben Raine and has a big lbw shout with his second ball to Jake Libby.

    It's sliding down. Maiden.

  17. Play resumes in Southportpublished at 16:24 30 June

    Lancashire 151-4 v Notts

The start of a potentially long final session with 41 overs scheduled.

Slow left-armer Liam Patterson-White gets his first bowl of the day and Keaton Jennings immediately adds another to his tally.

  18. Play resumes at Tauntonpublished at 16:23 30 June

    Somerset v Warwickshire 214-6

Somerset will be right back into this game with an early wicket in this final session of Day One.

The new ball is still 16 overs away.

Ed Barnard has been the bedrock of the Bears resistance today and he will take strike on 79 not out, facing the occasional leg spin of Andy Umeed.

Michael Burgess has helped Barnard put on 70 for the seventh wicket and he's at the other end on 33.

  19. Bosch injured?published at 16:22 30 June

    Surrey 115-4 v Essex

Eathan Bosch is wide of off stump to start with but the third ball draws Jamie Smith forward, edging between the two slips for four runs.

Soft hands saved him, dropping the ball safely in front of the cordon.

Smith gets a couple driven through cover.

A pause in play five deliveries in as Bosch appears to have injured his hand taking a return catch in the field.

  20. Play resumes at the Ovalpublished at 16:17 30 June

    Surrey 109-4 v Essex

Essex have just about shaded this one so far but they'll be keen to see the back of Jamie Smith.

The newly recruited England squad member faces the first ball after the break on 39.

The impressive Eathan Bosch will bowl. He has 3-32.

Sai Sudharsan is one not out at the other end.

43 overs left in the day's play, truncated by rain.
