Summary

  1. Afg 256-5published at 44 overs

A full toss from Jofra Archer and Ibrahim Zadran guides it beautifully to the third boundary.

Back-to-back fours! More brilliant timing from Ibrahim as he caresses a cut through point and to the fence.

And again! Three in a row! It's in the same place again. Superb shot.

20 off the over. That is the most expensive over of Archer's ODI career.

Brilliant shot from Ibrahim Zadran. It was an off cutter from Jofra Archer but a beautiful swing of the bat to send it away.

Jofra Archer is back and he's sent into the stands.

Gorgeous from Ibrahim Zadran as he lifts him over long-on with a glorious flow of the bat.

England are going to have to mix and match for the rest of the innings.

  5. Afg 236-5published at 43 overs

Mark Wood really isn't happy. He falls over in his follow through again and it leads to him stretching it out and having a long conversation with Jos Buttler.

He is able to bowl the final ball of the over but he was hobbling on one leg after delivering it.

It's got too much for Wood. He's going off the field. He is probably unlikely to bowl his final two overs here. How do England cover those?

  6. Afg 235-5published at 42.3 overs

How well has Ibrahim Zadran played? He picks up another boundary with a glorious one-bounce four back over Mark Wood's head.

  7. Postpublished at 12:09 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

Mark Wood, despite his left knee troubles, is coming back on for his eighth over.

Jos Buttler has saved an over of Adil Rashid for now.

That's a very good shot, both feet were off the ground when he played it.

  9. Afg 227-5published at 42 overs

    Ibrahim 115, Nabi 8

Sloppy. Ben Duckett throws, needlessly at the non-striker's end with the batter home, and nobody is backing up so Afghanistan are able to steal a second.

That allows Mohammad Nabi to keep the strike and Jamie Overton offers him width and it is lifted to the third boundary.

A sloppy couple of minutes from England.

Champions Trophy: Best shots from Ibrahim Zadran's century

Ibrahim Zadran is the only Afghan batter to hit a century in ICC Men's ODI events. He was the first Afghan batter to do it in a World Cup and now the first to do it in the Champions Trophy. He had hit 129 off 143 balls against Australia in Mumbai in 2023 but will be hoping that his team converts his century into a win this time round.

  12. Afg 217-5published at 41 overs

Mohammad Nabi is the new batter for Afghanistan. He can hit a long ball if he gets going.

Adil Rashid continues and concedes just five from his ninth over.

  13. Postpublished at 12:00 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

England conceded 36 runs between overs 36-38 but the next two have gone for just four.

They've steadied the Afghanistan assault somewhat.

    Azmatullah c sub (Banton) b Overton 41 (Afg 212-5)

    Jamie Overton strikes!

Good bowling from the all-rounder too, as his slower ball means Azmatullah Omarzai can't clear Tom Banton on the long-on boundary.

It is a good catch from the substitute fielder.

England under pressure - who does Jos Buttler turn to? Adil Rashid obviously.

Just two singles from it too. Some control regained.
