This is a very dangerous partnership. Azmatullah Omarzai has been excellent and Ibrahim Zadran has been there since the start.

    Absolutely critical period.

Ouch. Fuller from Mark Wood and it strikes Azmatullah Omarzai on the foot.

They scramble a leg bye but Azmatullah needs some treatment. It looks like the side of his foot.

Ibrahim Zadran started off slow but he's controlled it and stayed in the game. That's a quality innings, how many more is he going to score?

Max Headrom: Can easily see Afghanistan scoring 270+ and Rashid Khan helping get England out for sub-250.

  13. Afg 175-4published at 36 overs

Mark Wood is still up at 92mph so he is giving it absolutely everything.

He's slow going back to his mark though. That is something for England to think about because they could end up running out of time to bowl their overs and more boundary riders will have to come within the 30-yard circle towards the end of the innings.

With Adil Rashid, Joe Root and Liam Livingstone bowling though there is a decent chunk of spin.

England's fifth bowler and beyond have averaged 51.8 runs per wicket in ODIs since the start of 2024 and have gone at 6.6 runs per over. Both their average and economy are the worst among all teams participating in this Champions Trophy. England need Mark Wood to get his overs in today because even though they have bowling options to cover, they haven't been effective.

  17. Afg 172-4published at 35 overs

Five singles from Liam Livingstone's over. England will take that.

  18. Postpublished at 11:32 Greenwich Mean Time

A double change for England as Liam Livingstone replaces Jofra Archer.

Archer has a couple of overs left for the death.

This isn't the bouncy, smiley, effervescent Mark Wood that we know.

  20. Afg 167-4published at 34 overs

Oh! Almost for Mark Wood and England. Ibrahim Zadran slices a drive and it is just past Ben Duckett at backward point.

Wood fell over in his follow through after that delivery too. That's not uncommon of course for Wood, but it will hardly be helping the left knee injury.

Wood gets through the over and concedes just two runs. He is struggling significantly so it will be interesting to see how far he and Jos Buttler push it.
