  1. wicket

WICKET: Lawrence lbw b Snater 27published at 13:31 British Summer Time

    Essex 508-8 dec v Surrey 156-5

There's to be no big score for Dan Lawrence against his former team-mates.

Lawrence walks across a ball from Shane Snater that strikes him on the back leg. He's bang in front and that's an easy decision for the umpire.

Josh Blake is in next to join Dom Sibley.

  2. KENT AVOID FOLLOW-ONpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time

    Durham 360 v Kent 212-4

Joe Denly slams Bas de Leede to the cover boundary and that stroke ensures Kent cannot be asked to follow on by their hosts, effectively ensuring they will finish the season with a draw.

Would have been interesting to see how things might have unfolded had the first two days not been lost to the weather...

Now it's all about going big for Denly, who has 58 and Jack Leaning, on 83.

  3. Play resumes at Headingleypublished at 13:28 British Summer Time

    Yorks 559-3 v Northants 147

Now that the Division Two title has all but been decided down in Hove, Yorkshire's team need to decide if they want to go for a sixth win of the season or chase more batting records.

As it stands, James Wharton will face the first ball on 268 not out, to be bowled by Saif Zaib.

Jonny Bairstow has the small matter of 65 off 69 balls at the other end.

It's a bit gloomy out here and the floodlights are on.

  4. SUSSEX WIN DIVISION TWO TITLEpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time

    Adrian Harms

"Never has a no-ball received so much applause.

"Sussex are champions of Division Two of the County Championship in bizarre fashion."

John Simpson plays Luke Hollman into the covers. No run.

The second ball is a full toss and pulled through leg for four!

    One more for the title!

Simpson tries to tuck the ball through backward square but there's no single there.

What? A no-ball from Luke Hollman decides the Division Two trophy.

Well, this isn't how we might have envisaged it.

    Congratulations, Sussex.

  7. Handshakes duepublished at 13:19 British Summer Time

    Durham 360 v Kent 200-4

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

There's been little to talk about on the final day of this curtailed match in Chester-le-Street.

The only wicket to fall was that of night watchman Jas Singh, in the second over of the day. He was caught behind off Bas De Leede for one.

But since then Jack Leaning and Joe Denly have put together a solid and methodical partnership of 100 in 184 balls. Leaning has 78 and Denly 51, although he was dropped at long leg by Callum Parkinson, off teenager James Minto, when on 45.

As things stand we could see the sides shaking hands on a draw at 16:10 BST. But in order for that to happen Kent would still need to be behind. Which would make for a very dull afternoon.

They could shake at 16:20 with Durham batting and ahead. Or at 16:30 when the final hour of the season gets under way.

  8. Afternoon session under way at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time

    Essex 508-8 dec v Surrey 144-4

Shane Snater is handed the ball for the first time today and the opening delivery of the afternoon session prompts a nibble outside off stump from Dan Lawrence.

Lawrence would presumably love to post a sizeable score, on his return to the familiar Chelmsford turf, and he drives another ball back at Snater, catching the bowler with a blow on the hand as he picks up a couple of runs.

  9. wicket

WICKET Barnard c sub b Ahmed 81published at 13:18 British Summer Time

    Notts 487 v Warwickshire 255-5

Farhan Ahmed celebrates taking wicketImage source, Rex Features

Ed Barnard takes a single off the final ball of the over to bring up the 150 partnership with Sam Hain.

Then he's gone to the next ball!

He looks to sweep Farhan Ahmed, but gets a top edge which is pouched down at long leg by the sub fielder. A third wicket for the teen spinner.

Surely far too late for any fireworks as Michael Burgess joins Hain.

  10. Play to resume at 13:25 BST at Headingleypublished at 13:17 British Summer Time

    Yorks 559-3 v Northants 147

Just a short delay for bad light here.

    Four overs lost.

  11. Postpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time

    Worcs 180 & 86-6 v Lancs 177

Adam Hose plays out a maiden comfortably enough to Anderson Phillip after the break.

Lovely shot! Matthew Waite is off the mark second ball as he cuts Will Williams away for four.

He drives the final ball of the over for four more with some nice timing.

  12. Postpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time

    Sussex 245-4 v Middlesex 271

Good start for Sussex! The first ball is steered to deep third by James Coles for four runs. Seven more needed.

Coles defends down the ground and then flicks the next ball through mid wicket for a couple. Five more required.

The final ball of the over is blocked down the ground.

Leg spinner Luke Hollman will bowl next.

  13. First batting point for Warwickshirepublished at 13:14 British Summer Time

    Notts 487 v Warwickshire 250-4

Sam Hain turns a single into the legside to get the scoreboard ticking after lunch.

Ed Barnard then skips down the wicket and steers Farhan Ahmed to mid-on for the single to seal the first batting point.

It means, barring a spectacular Notts win, that they will finish above their hosts in the Division One table this season.

  14. Afternoon session begins at Hovepublished at 13:13 British Summer Time

    Sussex 239-4 v Middlesex 271

The Division Two trophy could potentially be secured in two or three strokes here!

    11 runs needed.

That batting point will put Sussex out of reach in first place.

James Coles will have first dibs so to speak, facing Ethan Bamber from the Sea End unbeaten on eight.

His batting partner and captain John Simpson has two not out.

  15. Bad light stops play at Headingleypublished at 13:12 British Summer Time

    Yorks 559-3 v Northants 147

It's been gloomy here for a while and the floodlights were on as early as the first hour of play today.

As you were on this one.

  16. Afternoon session begins at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:11 British Summer Time

    Notts 487 v Warwickshire 248-4

We resume with more spin after lunch as Farhan Ahmed bowls to Sam Hain.

The Bears are just two away from a first batting point.

  17. Play back under way at New Roadpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time

    Worcs 180 & 78-6 v Lancs 177

Anderson Phillip (2-21) gets the afternoon session under way at New Road, bowling to Adam Hose (23)

New batter Matthew Waite is at the non-striker's end after Ethan Brookes fell to the final ball before lunch.

  18. 'Lancashire fighting to preserve dignity'published at 12:46 British Summer Time

    Worcestershire 180 & 78-6 v Lancashire 177 - lunch, day four

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at Worcester

It's the final lunch on the final day of the longest-running County Championship - and the sixth Worcestershire wicket of the morning has everyone shuffling off at pace for their burger and chips.

Worcestershire are already safe - and homing in on their highest Championship finish since two-division cricket was invented in the year 2000.

Lancashire are already relegated - but fighting hard to at least preserve their dignity.

So, on this history-making first-ever Sunday finish to a Championship season, there is still a game on here.

  20. Lunch at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time

    Durham 360 v Kent 192-4

It looks as though Kent are on their way to ending a fairly disastrous season with an honourable draw - they need just another 19 runs to banish the possibility of having to follow on.

Jack Leaning and Joe Denly, unbeaten on 70 and 51 respectively, have shared a stand of 96 so far since nightwatchman Jas Singh was out in the second over of the day.
