Nice shot from James Coles, using the pace of the ball from Luke Hollman to paddle sweep fine for four.

Four more runs off the next ball with a flashing front foot drive through the covers.

    Worcs 180 & 157-7 v Lancs 177

    Fetch that!

Logan van Beek is on his toes to cut George Balderson through point for four more to go to 16.

It's stirring stuff but is perhaps squashing hopes of an exciting Lancashire chase to finish the campaign. The lead is 160.

    Notts 487 v Warwickshire 308-5

Jacob Duffy replaces Brett Hutton at the Stuart Broad End as Notts look to give their chilly supporters something to warm the cockles.

A grey squirrel is currently doing its bit for the hosts by fielding in the deep.

Not sure how Notts mascot Nuts the (red) Squirrel will feel about that.

Meanwhile, back in the middle, Duffy's return over costs a single to Sam Hain.

  4. wicket

WICKET Tattersall b Zaib 21published at 14:06 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Yorks 635-6 v Northants 147

A second wicket for Saif Zaib and this time he gets Yorkshire's captain.

Jonathan Tattersall goes back to the spinner and is cramped for room trying to cut as the ball canons into the stumps.

That bounced a bit lower than he may have expected.

Declaration? No. Dom Bess will have a bat.

  5. Postpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Sussex 294-4 v Middlesex 271

John Simpson is back and across to Ethan Bamber, tucking the bowler to fine leg for one to end the 76th over.

The Sussex captain gets one more run with a nudge to leg on the back foot to move to 23.

Sussex are within sight of a second batting point but of course it was the first one that really mattered.

    James Coles defends.

  6. 150 runs

150 up for Worcestershirepublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Worcs 180 &152-7 v Lancs 177

A smattering of applause rings around New Road as Adam Hose drives square off Anderson Phillip to claim his seventh boundary.

It brings up the 150 for the Pears.

    Notts 487 v Warwickshire 305-5

Farhan Ahmed into Michael Burgess who takes on the furthest boundary and clears it for his second maximum.

He races to 26 off 36 balls and Warwickshire have their second batting point.

Sam Hain then drives aerially through extra cover for four to bring up the fifty partnership for the sixth wicket in just 68 balls.

  8. 100 runs

100 for Dom Sibleypublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Essex 508-8 dec v Surrey 171-5

Dom Sibley (Surrey)Image source, Rex Features

Lovely stroke by Dom Sibley to take him to three figures - a sweetly timed straight drive off Sam Cook that races to the rope at long-off.

Sibley has batted really well today and that's his third hundred in the Championship this season, posted from 168 deliveries.

  9. Yorkshire piling on the runspublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Yorks 621-5 v Northants 147

More punishment for Fateh Singh, who has gone for over 100 runs in this innings.

George Hill hits the spinner for three fours in this over, driving through cover and twice rocking back and across to pull over mid wicket.

The lead is now a fairly academic 474.

  10. Postpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Worcs 180 & 146-7 v Lancs 177

How did that end up there?

Logan van Beek toe-ends an attempted pull off the returning Tom Bailey and it somehow loops over mid-off and dribbles to the rope for his first boundary.

The Dutchman then edges down to the third man boundary to move to 11 off 10 balls.

  11. Postpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Yorks 609-5 v Northants 147

It would appear there's not going to be a declaration.

Northants will have to try and bowl Yorkshire out.

Saif Zaib is continuing from the Kirkstall Lane End and a full-blooded drive from Jonathan Tattersall is stopped at short extra cover.

462 ahead. 119 overs bowled in the innings.

  12. Postpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Notts 487 v Warwickshire 293-5

    Shot!

Sam Hain drives Brett Hutton straight down the ground for his 12th four to move to 121.

Farhan Ahmed continues to keep the batters honest and concedes just two singles from his 27th over.

  13. wicket

WICKET Bairstow b Zaib 78published at 13:49 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Yorks 600-5 v Northants 147

No declaration yet but now Jonathan Bairstow is out.

He plays down the wrong line on a front foot drive to Saif Zaib and the ball thuds into the top of the off stump.

Now George Hill is going to have a bat.

  14. Yorkshire reach 600published at 13:48 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Yorks 600-4 v Northants 147

Jonathan Tattersall is back and across to Fateh Singh, pulling the spinner square for four to reach the innings 600 in 115.4 overs.

    Declaration?

  15. Champions Sussex move aheadpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Sussex 280-4 v Middlesex 271

James Coles gets Sussex in front with a bit of flair!

He's back and across to Luke Hollman, pulling the spinner flat over square leg and he gets another six with a similar shot, albeit smashing the ball higher in the air.

New balls, please. On no, scratch that. The ball has been recovered from the car park.

  16. wicket

WICKET Waite c Singh b Phillip 37published at 13:46 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Worcs 180 & 133-7 v Lancs 177

Well that was entertaining while it lasted!

Matthew Waite looks to go again as he rocks back to Anderson Phillip.

But he plays across the line and it skews up to deep backward square where Harry Singh steadies himself and swallows the chance. A third for Phillip.

Logan van Beek got a rapid 48 in the first knock and is in.

    The Pears lead is 136.

  17. 50 runs

50 partnership for Waite and Hosepublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Worcs 180 & 133-6 v Lancs 177

Matthew Waite's counter-punch has accelerated this innings at quite a pace.

Adam Hose steers the ball through backward square leg to bring up the 50 partnership for the seventh wicket.

It's come off just 45 balls and Waite has 36 of them.

Hose then drives Will Williams straight down the ground for a crisp four.

  18. wicket

WICKET: Leaning c Minto b de Leede 84published at 13:44 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Durham 360 v Kent 220-6

Jack Leaning had looked nailed on for a century, but the Kent batter misses out.

He hooks a short ball from Bas de Leede, gets right underneath it and James Minto, running around from deep square leg, judges the catch nicely.

  19. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Worcs 180 & 126-6 v Lancs 177

Anderson Phillip has bowled very well in this second innings, but Matthew Waite doesn't care about what has gone before.

The Trinidadian's first ball is met with a lovely lofted drive over long on for four.

Waite then gets a lifeline as he miscues the third ball towards mid-on. Tom Bailey, running back, gets a hand to it but can't hang on. A single moves Waite to 35 off 24.

The lead is all of a sudden up to 129.

  20. wicket

    WICKET: Denly c & b Parkinson 63published at 13:38 British Summer Time 29 September 2024

    Durham 360 v Kent 220-5

Callum Parkinson dropped Joe Denly this morning - but the left-arm spinner makes no mistake this time, off his own bowling as Denly drives straight back to him for a simple return catch.

Exaggerated - and probably ironic - celebrations from the bowler as Denly departs, to be replaced by Joey Evison.
