    Notts 487 v Warwickshire 354-5

  4. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 29 September

    Yorks 672-7 v Northants 147

For the superstitious among you, cross your arms and legs now as Yorkshire have three sixes in their innings score.

No longer. A quicker, shorter ball from Saif Zaib is pulled away by George Hill without quite timing it through mid wicket for a single.

One more single added by Jordan Thompson, driving again without really middling the ball.

George Hill ends the over with a slog sweep in front of square for four.

  5. wicket

WICKET: Sykes b Westley 0published at 14:40 British Summer Time 29 September

    Essex 508-8 dec v Surrey 218-7

Matt Critchley celebrates wicketImage source, Rex Features

A rare wicket for Essex skipper Tom Westley, who's brought himself on to bowl and is doing a passable impression of Simon Harmer right now.

Young Ollie Sykes gets a first-baller on his debut as the ball pitches on middle and turns to hit off stump.

Surrey may yet finish another title-winning season by having to follow on!

  6. 50 runs

50 for Michael Burgesspublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 29 September

    Notts 487 v Warwickshire 348-5

Michael Burgess works Farhan Ahmed into the legside for a single and that's his fifty - a third of the season.

His 23rd first-class half-century has come off just 65 balls.

  7. 50 runs

50 for James Colespublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 29 September

    Sussex 328-4 v Middlesex 271

James Coles is forward to Leus du Plooy, lofting a drive over cover.

He didn't get all of it but there's enough on the ball to run two for his 50 off 80 balls with three fours and two sixes.

That's his fourth 50 of the season and you would suspect this one will please him the most.

  8. wicket

WICKET Hose b Bailey 41published at 14:36 British Summer Time 29 September

    Worcs 180 & 167-8 v Lancs 177

Joe Leach comes to the crease for his last-ever innings for Worcestershire as the eighth wicket falls.

After another lengthy chat over the fitness of the ball, Tom Bailey gets some magic out of the old nut which keeps low and clean bowls Adam Hose.

It ends a superb 109-ball innings.

The strains of Joleen Dolly Parton ring out to welcome the Pears veteran.

  9. Postpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 29 September

    Yorks 664-7 v Northants 147

How many are Yorkshire going to get? 700 feels worryingly reachable from a Northants perspective.

Jordan Thompson is back to Fateh Singh driving off the back foot and gets an edge past the keeper for four.

No slips in of course. Understandably.

George Hill is on the back foot to Saif Zaib, cutting to deep point for two runs.

  10. wicket

WICKET: Sibley c Cook b Critchley 125published at 14:32 British Summer Time 29 September

    Essex 508-8 dec v Surrey 215-6

Dom Sibley is visibly annoyed with himself after charging Matt Critchley and driving straight into the hands of the cover fielder when a 150-plus score was surely his for the taking.

Critchley had taken some punishment from Sibley, including a colossal six that ended up on the balcony of a first-floor flat in Hayes Close... but the leg-spinner has the final word.

Ollie Sykes is in now, joining fellow red-ball debutant Josh Blake.

  11. Postpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 29 September

    Worcs 180 & 167-7 v Lancs 177

Having missed out on a half-century first time around, Logan van Beek might be eyeing that score this time around.

He's offered a bit of width and whips George Balderson through point for his third four to go 23.

Adam Hose aims a flashing drive at Tom Bailey but all swing and no ding. It carries through to wicketkeeper Matty Hurst.

  12. Postpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 29 September

    Sussex 319-4 v Middlesex 271

Middlesex in truth have little to play for at this stage and now the occasional left-arm spin of Leus du Plooy is being...deployed.

James Coles is forward to block into the off side.

He glances the next ball to deep mid on for one.

Single to Simpson at fine leg.

Coles gets a single to leg to move to 47.

  13. Postpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 29 September

    Notts 487 v Warwickshire 331-5

A controlled edge from Michael Burgess off Jacob Duffy down to third man brings Michael Burgess and takes him up to 40.

Sam Hain decides on a change of bat before facing Farhan Ahmed's next over. A single takes him within 12 of the 150 landmark.

  14. Yorkshire lead passes 500published at 14:24 British Summer Time 29 September

    Yorks 652-7 v Northants 147

Jordan Thompson is off the mark third ball with a six, lofting a drive down the ground off the bowling of Fateh Singh.

That's the 650 in 127.4 overs and the 500-plus lead.

A pause in play as a replacement ball is being picked out of a box.

    That's 15 sixes in Yorkshire's innings now.

  15. Postpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 29 September

    Worcs 180 & 162-7 v Lancs 177

Lancashire skipper Keaton Jennings asks the umpires to take a look at the ball as their early innings momentum stalls.

The ball passes through the ring - play on.

Lancashire wicketkeeper Matty Hurst then gets a close up of the ball in question as he stands up to the wicket and collects one on the helmet.

The medical staff are on but he's okay to continue.

  16. wicket

    WICKET: O'Riordan c Ackermann b Hogg 3published at 14:20 British Summer Time 29 September

    Durham 360 v Kent 252-7

Daniel Hogg picks up his second wicket of the innings as Marcus O'Riordan fishes outside off stump and the edge flies straight to Colin Ackermann at slip.

Grant Stewart is the new man in for Kent, someone who likes to throw the bat given an opportunity. And this final afternoon of the season is certainly just that.

  17. wicket

WICKET Bess LBW b Singh 6published at 14:19 British Summer Time 29 September

    Yorks 646-7 v Northants 147

Not quite the 500 lead as Dom Bess is the latest Yorkshire batter to be dismissed this afternoon.

Fateh Singh has his third wicket of the innings as Bess is squared up on the back foot trying to defend and struck below the knee in front of all three.

    Jordan Thompson is in next.

  18. Postpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 29 September

    Yorks 643-6 v Northants 147

It looks very much like this game will end in a draw - which could in theory be confirmed with a handshake in a couple of hours.

The lead is now a back-breaking 496 and Northants have been in the field for a tad more than four sessions.

The sun is out and concerns about the light, which in fact delayed us for 15 minutes after lunch, has now receded.

  19. Postpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 29 September

    Notts 487 v Warwickshire 316-5

Sam Hain has comfortably eclipsed his previous highest first-class score of the season - an unbeaten 111.

He picks up two more singles off Jacob Duffy to move to 133.

    A morale-boosting knock.

  20. Batting bonus point for Kentpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 29 September

    Durham 360 v Kent 251-6

For what it's worth, Kent have secured another bonus point courtesy of Joey Evison, who uses his feet to Callum Parkinson and slams the spinner over the top for six.

Evison is going along nicely on 29, while Marcus O'Riordan has three and the visitors trail Durham by 109.
