The equation seems pretty simple for India but those two wickets have given New Zealand something to cling on to.

  2. Ind 115-2published at 22 overs

    Target 252

Sharp turn again from Michael Bracewell and this time he beats Rohit Sharma's inside edge.

Another appeal but given not out and there's no review. Runs given by the umpire and ball-tracking shows it was going over the top in any case.

Just two from the over as New Zealand try to claw their way back into the contest.

What we have seen today is that the pace bowlers have gone around the park a bit. The spin bowlers have worked the best.

Still not much in it, even less now that New Zealand have taken those two quick wickets, but while Rohit Sharma is there, India still look in a very strong position.

  5. Ind 113-2published at 21 overs

    Target 252

Too short from Mitchell Santner and Shreyas Iyer cashes in.

He hits high over mid-wicket, the ball doesn't carry all the way but it's safely in the gap and bobbles into the cushion.

  6. Ind 108-2published at 20 overs

    Target 252

Well, what an impact Michael Bracewell has had on this match.

HIs quickfire half-century with the bat gave New Zealand something to bowl at and now he strikes in his first over - removing Virat Kohli, no less - to give his side a glimmer of hope.

Shreyas Iyer joins Rohit Sharma in the middle for India.

There's complete silence around the ground. It was a great delivery from Michael Bracewell.

New Zealand probably think that they have an outside chance of putting on some pressure now.

'He's throwing his hands in the air!' - Kohli dismissed lbw for one

Three reds! Stunned silence in Dubai as ball-tracking confirms the on-field decision.

Perfect line from off-spinner Michael Bracewell just outside off and then a hint of turn to take the ball past the inside edge as Virat Kohli tries to whip the ball leg side.

No bat involved, impact in line and going on to hit middle and leg. Game on?

Virat Kohli has looked up quizzically.

    Ind 106-1

Has Michael Bracewell taken the enormous wicket of Virat Kohli first ball?!

Turn and he's hit in front. The umpire takes his time but then raises his finger.

Kohli then takes his time chatting to Rohit Sharma before calling for the review.

    Big moment in the match.

Though New Zealand's left-arm spinners have attacked the stumps more and generated more turn today than the Indian left-arm spinners, they have bowled just 47% of the deliveries in the good length zone.

Axar & Jadeja bowled 54% of the deliveries in that length and made it tough for the Kiwi batters to get going.

Virat Kohli is the new batter and is off the mark with a single first ball.

Change of bowling at the other end, Michael Bracewell is coming on.

Oh my goodness me! The man does things that you would never expect to see. That was absolutely extraordinary.

That is a catch for the ages.

Phillips produces 'the most stunning of catches' to dismiss Gill

You have got to be kidding me! Glenn Phillips that is OUTRAGEOUS!

Tossed up by Mitchell Santner and Shubman Gill absolutely nails it over cover. Well, that's what we all assumed must happened given the power and trajectory.

But no, Phillips leaps to take the catch in mid-air, one-handed at full stretch and then just sits on the turf smiling and shaking his head. Even he can't believe that one.

You will have to go a very, very long way to see a catch as good as that. Magnificent.

If New Zealand turn to off-spin, we'll see more action from Rohit Sharma. He doesn't mind playing against off-spin, he would be quite comfortable.

  18. drinks break

    Ind 103-0published at 18 overs

    Need 149 more to win

A Mexican wave has started at the Dubai International Stadium, usually the sign the crowd is a little bored of the action on the field.

Shubman Gill perhaps takes that a little personally and skips down to Rachin Ravindra and hits firmly over the bowler's head.

It looks a boundary all the way but some excellent fielding in the deep from Will O'Rourke saves three.

    Time for drinks.

I know lots of people will be saying "why can't New Zealand be better?" but as an England fan, I'm really enjoying this masterclass from Rohit. Sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy it.
