    Target 252

Tidy over from Mitchell Santner but a single from the last ball brings a big cheer from the India supporters.

The 100 is up and their side are well on their way to lifting the Champions Trophy.

I think the only way that New Zealand will take wickets is from India's mistakes.

  4. Ind 96-0published at 16 overs

    Target 252

Rachin Ravindra keeps India to four singles from the over but it's wickets - and plenty of them - that New Zealand need.

Already we're at the stage where it seems safe to say Mitchell Santner's side need to bowl India out to win this game. It's hard to see them defending this total otherwise.

  5. Ind 93-0published at 15 overs

    Target 252

The India fans in the crowd - who I'd estimate make up 99% of those in attendance - are chanting Rohit Sharma's name as he pounces on a drag down from Mitchell Santner.

Pulled into the gap at cow corner for four.

The worry for New Zealand is that India have decided they're happy to attack the spinners as well as the seamers now. No respite for the Black Caps.

Gill sends Ravindra delivery 'sailing over' long on for six

Shubman Gill has played second fiddle throughout this innings but he decides he wants to join in the fun.

He springs out of his crease and dances down to Rachin Ravindra before hitting the ball flat over long on for six.

One smooth swing of the bat and the ball sails over the ropes.

    1. Rohit Sharma - 68
    2. Muhammad Waseem - 36

    4. David Warner - 26
    5. Quinton de Kock, Rahmanullah Gurbaz & Shubman Gill - 19
  9. Ind 75-0published at 13 overs

First real signs of aggression from the India openers against Mitchell Santner as Shubman Gill heaves a slightly short ball over mid-wicket.

The fielders in the deep prevent the boundary, just five from the over but that's enough for India.

We know that New Zealand struggled to rotate the strike, particularly in those middle overs.

India's top order are great at rotating strike, especially when the ball is moving.

All depends on the conditions, Steve. I can't see 45 overs of spin being the way to go on a green seamer. Although, admittedly, you don't see many of those in white-ball cricket.

Anyway, India do manage to get a boundary off New Zealand's spinners for the first time today. It's an outside edge from Rohit Sharma that races away through the vacant slip region.

Genuinely, why does anyone bowl any pace in the shorter forms? It's so clear spin is much more likely to get a wicket, and much harder to hit. We're entering the age of 45+ overs of spin.

New Zealand ahead on the worm - but this is about the time India hit back with two quick wickets and the run-rate slowed to a crawl for a spell.

    What a ripper!

Mitchell Santner ends the over with a jaffa to Shubman Gill. Drifting in from round the wicket to pitch on middle before turning away sharply to beat the outside edge.

Positive signs for New Zealand at last.

Rohit Sharma plays at his own pace. That can also be frustrating for the opposition trying to face him.

He doesn't celebrate much because he knows that there are more runs out there for him.

Rohit Sharma doesn't seem fazed at all. He's as calm as can be.

This is just the start for him, he's certainly leading them home.

A wonderful knock from the India skipper to give his side a brilliant platform to build in this chase.

That was well bowled by Rachin Ravindra. It's not always easy coming in to bowl against someone who is as set as Rohit Sharma is.

  19. Ind 64-0published at 10 overs

    Target 252

More spin to end the powerplay as Rachin Ravindra comes on to bowl his left-arm spin.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are content to deal in singles, four of them coming from the over, although it takes a good diving stop from sub fielder Mark Chapman to deny the latter a boundary through the covers.
