  1. Postpublished at 19 overs

    Somerset v Bears 182-6

A welcome 12 runs from that penultimate over.

Kai Smith goes down on his knees and reverses Riley Meredith for four runs - the Bears needed that.

One over to go and we are still waiting for our first six of the innings - unheard of at Taunton.

We have had 27 fours though!

  2. Fine bowling from Greenpublished at 18 overs

    Somerset v Bears 170-6

Ben Green has been good for Somerset and responsible for hauling things back for the home side.

The first ball of his final over is hit for four by Kai Smith.

He concedes only three more runs to finish with 2-30 from his four overs.

You just feel the Bears have let things slip.

Back comes Riley Meredith into the attack.

  3. 'Big three overs for Somerset'published at 19:45 British Summer Time 6 September

    Somerset v Bears 163-6

    Mark Davis
Former Somerset seamer on BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset have really had to battle here.

    Still work to be done.

Big three overs to go for Somerset.

  4. Postpublished at 17 overs

    Somerset v Bears 163-6

Danny Briggs hits the final ball of the over and the first one he faces for four.

Three overs to go and you feel the Bears need 37 runs at least.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.5 overs

    Garton v Gregory b Ball 2 (Somerset v Bears 159-6)

George Garton is given out lbw off the bowling of Jake Ball but wants it reviewed - he's right to as it's missing leg stump.

Garton survives but only for a couple of balls as he skies one and Lewis Gregory takes the catch.

It's going wrong for the Bears.

    Danny Briggs is in.

  6. Postpublished at 16 overs

    Somerset v Bears 156-5

Ben Green concedes nine runs from the over.

He has 2-23 from his three overs.

  7. 'Bears need another big over or two'published at 19:37 British Summer Time 6 September

    Somerset v Bears 155-5

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

It's a good catch from Craig Overton running in, who dropped a couple of catches early on.

Bears need another big over or two before they finish.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15.5 overs

    Barnard c C Overton b Green 15 (Somerset v Bears 155-5)

More good running from the Bears turns a couple of singles into a pair of twos.

But now Ed Barnard chips Ben Green down the ground straight into the hands of Craig Overton.

  9. 150 runs

150 up for Bearspublished at 15.1 overs

    Somerset v Bears 151-4

Ben Green is swept for four by Ed Barnard.

Up comes the 150 for the visitors.

  10. Postpublished at 15 overs

    Somerset v Bears 147-4

Very good from the Somerset captain Lewis Gregory.

He concedes only two runs from that 15th over.

That's got the home supporters cheering...finally.

Bears need to go 10 runs per over now.

  11. Postpublished at 14.3 overs

    Somerset v Bears 147-4

Remember - 200 (at least) is the magic number the Bears will feel they need.

There's a chance of a run out for Lewis Gregory on his follow through but his underarm throw is too high and he's hurt himself on the slide as well.

He's back up but holding his right elbow.

  12. Postpublished at 14 overs

    Somerset v Bears 145-4

Lewis Goldsworthy is back with his slow left-armers.

The ball seems to be skidding on a bit now with the sunshine virtually gone.

The Bears take eight runs from that over.

  13. Postpublished at 13 overs

    Somerset v Bears 137-4

A good comeback from Riley Meredith after that nightmare first over.

Six runs and a wicket will make the Australian paceman feel a bit better.

  14. 'Somerset have to keep chipping away'published at 19:23 British Summer Time 6 September

    Somerset v Bears 133-4

    Mark Davis
Former Somerset seamer on BBC Radio Somerset

That's all Somerset can do now. To stay in this contest they've got to keep chipping away at wickets.

It's a smart catch from Sean Dickson.

They'll be feeling a lot better after two wickets in a couple of overs. Bears are still in a very strong position but Somerset are starting to claw themselves way back into contention.

I still feel anything under 220 then Somerset have done well to contain them to that but even that is a sizeable score to get later on this evening.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.4 overs

    Hain c Dickson b Meredith 21 (Somerset v Bears 133-4)

RIley Meredith, after being carted for 24 in his opening over, is back on for Somerset.

His first ball is the first one he's bowled in the game that hasn't gone for four - it's a single instead and he shares a joke with Sam Hain.

He gets the fourth ball just right and Sam Hain has gone!

Hain drives it away and must be thinking it's going for four but Sean Dickson stretches to take a fine catch at extra cover.

  16. Smeed drops anotherpublished at 12 overs

    Somerset v Bears 131-3

Very good from Ben Green and other seam bowlers might want to take note in terms of offering no pace on the ball.

He might have a second wicket in that over as well but it's Will Smeed again who puts one down in the deep, this time it's Ed Barnard he drops.

  17. 'Davies will be furious with that dismissal'published at 19:18 British Summer Time 6 September

    Somerset v Bears 127-3

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

Alex Davies will be furious with that manner of dismissal and sad that he's been dismissed in such a tame way.

If Bears go on to win this game then they'll have won it off the platform built by Alex Davies with that 71.

A fine show of what a high-class operator he can be.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.3 overs

    Davies b Green 71 (Somerset v Bears 127-3)

Ben Green has dragged back his length and is offering no pace for the batters to feed off.

Alex Davies tries to ramp him and plays onto his stumps.

An ugly way to end a brilliant innings

13 fours in a 39-ball 71 from the Bears skipper.

    Ed Barnard is next in.

  19. Postpublished at 11 overs

    Somerset v Bears 125-2

Lewis Gregory returns for Somerset - I don't think I've ever known Taunton so quiet.

Gregory spoils a good over by dragging down the last delivery and Sam Hain pulls it for four.

  20. Postpublished at 10 overs

    Somerset v Bears 119-2

Sam Hain drives Lewis Goldsworthy's first ball for four like he was just flicking a fly away.

This surface is so good for batting and Alex Davies shows us that by pulling another ball for four.

Another well-run two from the penultimate delivery is followed by a single.

That's the halfway stage - it'd be quite nice to take a breath!
