  1. Postpublished at 5 overs

    Lancashire v Kent 44-2

Joe Denly is up and running with a couple of fours off Luke Wood, with 11 coming from the over.

Both Kent openers back in the hutch now, but they bat fairly deep so plenty more for Lancashire to do as they try to peg the visitors back.

  2. 'Very clever bowling from Anderson'published at 14:52 British Summer Time 6 September

    Lancashire v Kent 33-2

    Stephen Moore
Former Lancashire opener on BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra

That was a wonderful piece of bowling from Jimmy Anderson.

Daniel Bell-Drummond has come down like he did earlier in the over to Anderson. He's come down out of his crease, given himself room, trying to open up that offside and Jimmy's just rolled his fingers on it and bowled a slightly slower ball.

It's stuck in the wicket and did Bell-Drummond all ends up and all he could do was get an outside edge that just lobbed up to backward point.

Very clever bowling from Jimmy Anderson there.

It's unfortunate for Kent to lose Bell-Drummond who is a very big player, but they've still got more experience to come so they won't be too worried yet.

    Jimmy Anderson strikes!

Daniel Bell-Drummond has just smashed him through the covers for four, but this one is a looser shot, with one hand coming off the bat and the ball sails into the hands of the point fielder.

Joe Denly next in for the Spitfires.

  4. 'Lancs will know Kent run quickly between wickets'published at 14:48 British Summer Time 6 September

    Lancashire v Kent 33-1

    Matt Cole
    BBC Radio Kent

Lancashire have done their analysis on Kent I think it's fair to say. They'll know the they'll run quickly between the wickets.

  5. 'The batters aren't timing the ball'published at 14:45 British Summer Time 6 September

    Lancashire v Kent 22-1

    Stephen Moore
Former Lancashire opener on BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra

You can see that the Lancashire fielders are really trying to squeeze and it looks like the batters aren't really timing the ball.

Whether the ball is sticking in the wicket a little bit...

  6. Postpublished at 3 overs

    Lancashire v Kent 22-1

Not really a short ball from Luke Wood - it didn't get higher than Daniel Bell-Drummond's hips - but the Kent opener swats it ruthlessly over square leg for the first six of the game.

Good over from the left-armer, though - it's otherwise five dot balls that Bell-Drummond was unable to get away.

  7. 'Anderson return has been fascinating'published at 14:42 British Summer Time 6 September

    Lancashire v Kent 16-1

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

The Jimmy Anderson return to cricket - particularly to shorter format cricket - this season has been absolutely fascinating to watch.

  8. Postpublished at 2 overs

    Lancashire v Kent 16-1

A familiar sight for the Old Trafford faithful... the evergreen Sir James Anderson sharing the new ball.

The veteran strays down leg side a couple of times, with Daniel Bell-Drummond taking advantage to tickle another boundary, but only seven runs from the over.

  9. 'Couldn't be a better start for Lancashire'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 6 September

    Lancashire v Kent 9-1

    Stephen Moore
Former Lancashire opener on BBC Radio Lancashire

That couldn't be a better start for Lancashire.

Luke Wood is always going to run and try and hit the wicket hard and Tawanda Muyeye on the front foot, looking to be aggressive, didn't look like he got all of it, got a little bit of the splice of the bat and just lobbed it up for a very simple catch for Liam Livingstone at mid-off.

There are some very happy Lancashire faces but there's a lot of depth in the Kent batting line-up so they won't be celebrating too much too quickly. They'll need to be straight back on it.

  10. Postpublished at 1 over

    Lancashire v Kent 9-1

Tawanda Muyeye's early exit brings Zak Crawley to the middle and the England Test opener announces his arrival by punching Luke Wood to the cover boundary.

Daniel Bell-Drummond follows suit with a similar shot off the back foot and an identical result.

  11. wicket

What a start for the Red Rose!

First ball of the game, Tawanda Muyeye drives Luke Wood straight to mid-off and Liam Livingstone snaps it up.

  12. 'This is do-or-die'published at 14:31 British Summer Time 6 September

Lancashire Lightning v Kent Spitfires (14:30 BST)

    Stephen Moore
Former Lancashire opener on BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra

On a nice sunny afternoon with a buzz in the crowd. This does bring back some memories.

It's a great occasion. You don't play many games in County cricket which are do-or-die but this is a quarter-final match which is do-or-die.

You may have noticed the weather has been a bit, well, changeable over the past week - welcome to September I guess.

Wednesday's quarter-final at The Oval had to be shortened while on Friday it might have got a bit chilly in the north east, but we got through the game.

Today's forecast is predicting a warmer day than yesterday and lots of hazy sunshine so, fingers crossed for both our games.

  15. Can T20 Blast save their seasons?published at 14:24 British Summer Time 6 September

Lancashire Lightning v Kent Spitfires (14:30 BST)

For one of the big names of County Cricket these have been dark times for Lancashire.

A poor start to the Championship season saw them part company with coach Dale Benkenstein and although there are signs of improvement, promotion back to Division One is unlikely while one win from eight One-Day Cup matches won't last long in the memory.

The Blast has offered welcome relief at Old Trafford with Keaton Jennings' side topping the North Group and winning nine of their 14 games.

Just like Lancashire, it's probably best not to talk too much to Kent supporters about their season outside the T20 Blast.

Bottom of the County Championship's Division Two and finishing third-from-bottom of their One-Day Cup group are not things to shout about so we'll gloss over that.

Kent will have enjoyed the way they clinched their spot in the last eight with a seven-wicket thrashing of rivals Essex with Harry Finch smacking an unbeaten 64.

"Getting into the quarters is great - we know when we're on it we're as good as anyone in this competition, we really believe that," said Finch.

The Spitfires will need something very similar today if they're not to be struck down by the Lightning.

Northamptonshire Steelbacks and Hampshire Hawks have already booked their place at for next Saturday's Finals Day at Edgbaston.

Ravi Bopara rolled back the years as the Steelbacks beat Surrey by seven runs at The Oval on Wednesday night.

In a match reduced to 14 overs per side because of rain, 40-year-old Bopara smashed a 45-ball century to rescue his side from 1-2.

Despite 69 not out from Sam Curran, South Group winners Surrey fell just short of their target.

Last night, Hampshire's blistering start with the bat ultimately proved decisive against Durham as Toby Albert and Chris Lynn raced away with an opening stand of 112 from just 56 balls.

Hilton Cartwright weighed in with 61 from 31 to ensure the Hawks piled up 221-8 - a record T20 total by a visiting side at Chester-le-Street.

Ollie Robinson did his best for Durham with an unbeaten 60 from 33, but it was not enough as the home side came up 26 runs short.

    Lancashire v Kent (14:30 BST)

Lancashire Lightning topped the North Group, edging out Durham by two points, crucially winning both games against the north east side.

Five victories away from Old Trafford also proved pivotal to the Lightning coming out on top as they seek just a second T20 success to go with their title win in 2015.

Two-times winners Kent will not be daunted by being on their travels having won four of their six completed away games in the South Group, including an impressive four-run victory at Somerset.

The Spitfires also won their final two games to squeeze into the last eight at the expense of Glamorgan.

Somerset know a thing or two about T20 Cricket - two-time winners, five-time runners-up, three times in the last four and this is their third quarter-final which makes them one of the more successful sides in this format.

Winning their first five games of the group stage set the stall out for another good campaign with Surrey pipping them to top spot on net run-rate as the pair finished a whopping 14 points clear of the rest.

All that makes it a daunting task for the Bears who lost their opening two games before three wins from their final four saw them get over the line.

This is their fifth successive quarter-final as they look to add to their solitary triumph in 2014 when they beat Lancashire by four runs in the final.

Let's get the all-important toss and team news first.

Kent have won the toss and will bat first at Old Trafford.

James Anderson gets the nod to start for Lancashire but there's no Chris Green while Jos Buttler is away on England duty.

Kent welcome back Zak Crawley in the only change from their final group game win over Essex with Harry Finch missing for the Spitfires having played so well in that last match.

Two places at T20 Blast Finals Day are already taken but who will join Northamptonshire Steelbacks and Hampshire Hawks in next Saturday's showpiece?
