This is a great venue, a great place for watching cricket with big, big noisy crowds and it tends to be a high-scoring ground.

Somerset are good at T20 cricket here. They are aiming for their 11th finals day which, if they achieve it, will put them joint top with Hampshire.

This is Olly Hannon-Dalby's first T20 game this season for Bears, it was a toss up between him and Craig Miles. He's in the squad because they've lost Hasan Ali.

The players they've lost are significant but that's the nature of cricket and Somerset have lost a couple as well, notably Matt Henry.

I think Somerset are probably narrow favourites against Bears if only because they've got home advantage.

It's a beautiful evening, it looks like an absolute belter of a pitch, there's a good crowd building up and they will be passionately behind Somerset and that ought to be worth a couple of wickets or a few runs.

If Somerset do win here this evening then they'll play Lancashire on finals day in the semi-final.

Interestingly Lancashire will be without two of their biggest players, Luke Wood and Phil Salt, who will be with Tom Banton with England.

It’s now eight long years since the Bears secured an invitation to the Finals Day party they host annually at Edgbaston.

In fact, the prospect of a quarter-final on home soil seems to provoke stage fright among the Bears’ ranks – in the last three seasons they have fluffed their lines as Hampshire, Essex and Gloucestershire all stole the limelight in Birmingham knockout ties to book a return to the big stage.

So maybe Alex Davies’s side, having finished third in the North Group, will thrive with an away quarter-final this evening?

Only problem is that the Bears’ opponents at Taunton are, of course, Somerset – whose participation at Finals Day has become almost taken as read in recent years.

The Cidermen, Blast winners in 2023 and runners-up in 2021 and 2024, are aiming for their fifth consecutive trip to Edgbaston after another formidable performance in the South Group, where only run-rate separated them from Surrey in the tussle for top spot.

Head coach Jason Kerr told BBC Radio Bristol: “The team on paper is vastly experienced, they've been in numerous situations now where their backs are against the wall.

"So we’ll need to draw on all that come Saturday and hopefully the weekend afterwards.”

Bears have won the toss at Taunton and will bat first.

Somerset include the tournament's top wicket taker in Riley Meredith while opening batter Will Smeed is the fourth-highest run scorer.

The big news from the Bears camp is the inclusion of seam bowler Olly Hannon-Dalby who has not played a T20 Blast match since 2023.

There is also no overseas player in the visitors' side.

We are all set to complete our Finals Day line-up.

There is bright sunshine at Taunton with last year's runners-up, Somerset, up against a Bears side who won this back in 2014.

We've already seen an outstanding performance from Liam Livingstone to get Lancashire over the line today so who is going to put their hand up in the south west?

The Lightning join Northamptonshire and Hampshire at Edgbaston next week.

Kent really scrapped really hard with an injury-hit small squad through the group stages to make it here.

But those middle overs weren't good enough to take on the spin of Liam Livingstone and Tom Hartley who took two wickets for 42 in eight overs

That's when they became becalmed and tried to make up for that, but it just wasn't going to happen.

But I think they'll take credit from this but Lancashire were mighty powerful on the day. When you hit Liam Livingstone in that mood. I'm not saying it's just a one-man game but it's very hard to get over that.

Liam Livingstone's unbeaten 85 from 45 balls won it for Lancashire despite taking a blow to the neck early in his innings - he's been talking to Sky Sports:

"The pitches have been quite hard to read here this year so we weren't too bothered with losing the toss.

"We tried to keep the stumps in play as much as we could and took wickets at key times - they were probably five or 10 runs short.

"The blow sharpened me up a little bit and I enjoy going in during the powerplay and I feel batting down the order gives you experience of how to pace an innings.

"We've done really well over my time in getting to finals day but we've only won it once 10 years ago so hopefully we can go on and do it again."

You can see what that meant to Liam Livingstone. He was down on his knees after he hit that shot.

A really, really big day for Lancashire to get through to that Finals day and hopefully kick their season on to getting that trophy.

If you're on your own ground, you want to play an innings like that to get your side through such a big day.

The Lancashire man batters Nathan Gilchrist away to the long-off fence and wins it for his side.

He finishes unbeaten on 85 from 45 balls and that's despite taking a horrible blow to his neck early in his innings.

The home side's spinners did a great job in stemming the Kent middle order and when the visitors tried to do the same they got smacked to all parts of the ground.

Lancashire reach a 10th Finals Day and have a chance to add to that one title they won in 2015.
