    Plimmer run out (Sutherland/Healy) 0 (NZ 0-1)

Not an ideal start for New Zealand.

Georgia Plimmer is run out having not faced a ball on her ODI World Cup debut.

Suzie Bates faces five dot balls from Kim Garth before knocking the over's final delivery to mid-on and setting off.

Plimmer is slow to set-off and is beaten by Annabel Sutherland's throw.

Right, for New Zealand's chase to get going.

Suzie Bates is facing Kim Garth, with Georgia Plimmer at the other end.

We did not see many short balls from the New Zealand bowlers and that is something Australia might think about.

    Thanks Elizabeth.

Not an insurmountable target for New Zealand, but they'd have been hoping to chase a lower one after having Australia 128-5.

Australia's Ash Gardner: "It was all about building partnerships for us. For me to get into my innings, I had to go hard to the sweepers. It was about playing the fearless brand of cricket.

"We bat down to 10 or 11 which gives us batters that freedom. We had a good powerplay today and for us, it is about sticking to our strengths.

On her message to Australia's bowlers: "We need to keep it as simple as possible. Use changes of pace which New Zealand did not really do. Keeping the stumps in play is the most important thing."

Here are the highlights from Ash Gardner's second ODI century.

She top-scored with 115 (83), including 16 fours and one six.

As in the tournament opener between India and Sri Lanka, you have to think about what might have been.

Sri Lanka were left to rue dropped catches. New Zealand couldn't land the killer blow after taking 3-20 to reduce Australia to 128-5.

Take a bow Ash Gardner, who scored a magnificent 115 (83) to rebuild Australia's innings, ably supported by Kim Garth (38) and Tahlia McGrath (26).

A routine take for Georgia Plimmer as Kim Garth tries to smack a big six but falls short.

She departs for 38 (37) and Australia are all out for 326.

You can understand what Alana King was trying to do. It was interesting that she did not get sent in earlier.

Darcie Brown needs to get off strike and let Kim Garth have a go for these last few deliveries.

    King c Bates b J Kerr 4 (325-9)

Alana King goes for a big swing and picks out Suzie Bates. New Zealand can take heart from their catching.

  16. Aus 325-8published at 49 overs

Kim Garth sees a short and wide delivery and says please and thank you. Her fourth boundary takes her into the 30s.

Later in the over, she charges Bree Illing and thwacks her down the ground for four more.

This is more than a handy cameo from Australia's number nine.

  17. Aus 313-8published at 48 overs

Three more to Australia's total. Can they make it up to 330 in the final two overs?

Ash Gardner knew straight away that she hit it. It has been a great innings from her - she really went through the gears.

A lot to contend with here too with the heat and humidity.
