    Gardner c Gaze b Illing 115 (Aus 308-8)

Well, it hasn't been a great over from Bree Illing - conceding 10 runs from her first two balls, including two fours and a no ball - but she has a second wicket.

Ash Gardner comes down for a big heave but bottom edges through to the wicketkeeper to bring her innings to an end. What a knock it's been.

This has been an interesting innings to watch. Australia looked to go hard initially and that has proven a good game plan despite being seven down.

New Zealand will be hoping these last overs will be damage limitation.

  4. Aus 298-7published at 46 overs

Runs are flowing for Ash Gardner - three boundaries from Sophie Devine's first four legitimate deliveries.

An attempt at a fourth nearly brings her wicket but the ball drops short of Suzie Bates, who was diving forward at full stretch. The fielder does well to limit her to a single.

Ash Gardner has been so measured. She joined in a tricky situation and has done so well to re-build for Australia.

She has license now to go for whatever shots she wants.

And there it is! Ash Gardner guides Sophie Devine for four to bring up her second ODI century off 77 balls.

She came in in the middle of Australia's top-order collapse and has rebuilt their innings.

This is where Ash Gardner has really has developed.

She is not just a slogger as she was seen when she first started playing internationally. She is a high quality batter now and that shot shows that.

  8. Aus 283-7published at 45 overs

The batters exchange singles before Gardner lifts Eden Carson for four to move onto 96.

Her eyes light up at a short delivery but she's restricted to one by the boundary fielder.

Two more singles for Australia. Gardner is on strike on 98.

Sophie Devine is trying to go full and straight here. A great over from her - there really is no margin for error.

Ash Gardner moves into the 90s with Australia's first boundary for 4.3 overs.

Kim Garth bags a boundary of her own, guiding Sophie Devine through third and just evading a diving fielder.

  11. Aus 264-7published at 43 overs

Ash Gardner tries to go after a short delivery from Eden Carson but her pull is straight to a fielder on the boundary and she can only jog a single.

She's 14 runs away from a century with seven overs remaining.

  12. Aus 260-7published at 42 overs

Another tidy over from Lea Tahuhu but Australia run well to add five to their total.

The bowler has, however, just left the field.

Australia are continuing to create boundary opportunities, out of nowhere it seems at times.

Ooooh a slightly nervy moment for Ash Gardner as she miscues the ball into the leg side but it falls short of Melie Kerr.

With 10 overs remaining, Australia are 252-7. Melie Kerr has one over remaining, the economical Lea Tahuhu has three. Gardner will be eyeing the other six.

  16. Aus 246-7published at 39 overs

Kim Garth pings the fourth delivery of her innings for four.

Six runs off Melie Kerr's penultimate over.

  17. How's stat?!published at 13:13 BST 1 October

Today's innings continues a bit of a purple patch for Ash Gardner in one-day cricket. In her last 10 innings in the format, she's averaging 52.6 compared to a career average of 30.5. Her run-a-ball Ashes century against England in Hobart earlier this year is the highlight of this hot streak.

  18. Aus 240-7published at 38 overs

Kim Garth gets off the mark with a single.

Will that wicket change Ash Gardner's strategy? She could swing for the hills but I don't think there's any need to hurry. There's 12 overs left in the innings after all and Garth has two ODI fifties to her name.

Sophie Molineux was getting bogged down and not getting singles so she played that shot that she did not need to play at all.

    Australia are losing patience.
