  1. 'A sprightly start for Notts'published at 14:07 British Summer Time 30 June

    Somerset 279 v Notts 38-0

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Radio Somerset

Haseeb Hameed's timing is just so good.

He's got the ball on a string. He able to play it late, play it early, open the face, close the face.

Everything that he is trying is bringing more runs and most of them are coming off Matt Henry.

It's been a very sprightly start for Notts.

    Haines b Rocchiccioli 40 (Sussex 98-1 v Warwickshire 415)

What a ball from Corey Rocchiccioli...

Tom Haines has played very nicely but he has to go after the Australian offie gets one to turn a bit, beats the bat and clatters middle and off.

A useful breakthrough for the visitors, and a timely one.

  3. Postpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 30 June

    Yorks v Essex 357-7

Essex have clearly decided to target Dom Bess in this post-lunch session.

Noah Thain struck the off-spinner for successive boundaries and Simon Harmer has also weighed in, swinging Bess over the rope and towards a cluster of spectators in deckchairs for the first six of the game.

The visitors are past 350 now and if they can get up to 400 they'll certainly feel they have something to work with.

  4. Postpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 30 June

    Derbyshire 123-4 v Lancashire 367

We have Anderson on Andersson action at Queens Park as George Balderson has broken the promising Derbyshire partnership at 78, having Brooke Guest caught behind for 19.

Martin Andersson is the new man, joining Wayne Madsen, with Jimmy Anderson trying to find a way to turn one into two.

  5. 'Lawrence wicket came from nowhere'published at 14:00 British Summer Time 30 June

    Surrey 626-4 v Durham

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

The Dan Lawrence wicket came from absolutely nowhere and could see how disappointed he was.

That now brings Will Jacks to the middle. Not a bad bloke. We talked about having a platform and he's certainly got that now.

    Well played Dan Lawrence.

  6. Division Two round-uppublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 30 June

New session, same story so far at Canterbury, where Kent have advanced to 467-5 against Northants - Daniel Bell-Drummond is 129 not out and Harry Finch has 67.

Glamorgan are 12-0 after four overs in Cardiff, having bowled out Gloucestershire for 380 just before lunch - James Bracey making 133.

James Anderson is back in action with the ball at Chesterfield, where Derbyshire are 121-4 in the 34th over, replying to Lancashire's 367 all out, Wayne Madsen is 63 not out.

Ben Geddes is nearing a hundred for Middlesex against Leicestershire, the visitors are 449-6 - and Geddes and Joe Cracknell have now added 80.

  7. Postpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 30 June

    Sussex 90-0 v Warwickshire 415

Tom Haines survived a big appeal for a catch in the slips off spinner Corey Rocchiccioli, with the ball possibly popping up off his thigh pad, standing his ground and then rubbing salt into the bowler's wounds with a towering six over long-on two balls later, which will prompt a change of ball.

Haines has 36* and his side continue to deal predominantly in boundaries.

  8. Postpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 30 June

    Sussex 82-0 v Warwickshire 415

Sussex have picked up where they left off before lunch.

Daniel Hughes must feel like he's back Down Under, in these conditions with a Kookaburra, and he's cashing in. Ed Barnard's first two overs have cost 20 runs.

Hughes has 10 fours in his 43*.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 30 June

    Pepper c Bairstow b White 27 (Yorks v Essex 332-7)

Jack White claims his third wicket of the innings and breaks what was turning into a significant partnership of 56.

Michael Pepper edges behind off the seamer for 27 and Yorkshire are almost into the tail now. Simon Harmer, who helped to thwart them with the bat at Chelmsford last month, is in next.

  10. Postpublished at 6.1 overs

    Somerset 279 v Notts 31-0

A little bit of width from Matt Henry at the start of a new over and Ben Slater cracks it away to the point boundary. He moves into double figures and partner Haseeb Hameed has 20.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 30 June

    Lawrence c sub b Hogg 178 (Surrey 612-4 v Durham)

What's this? A wicket... Durham haven't been able to celebrate one of those for a while.

Dan Lawrence had just reached his highest first-class score, whipping a pull for four off Daniel Hogg - but he drives the next delivery to point and is neatly caught.

A great knock by Lawrence, but he'll feel there was a golden opportunity to follow Dom Sibley to 200 there.

Will Jacks strides down the pavilion steps to replace Lawrence - not a sight you want to see when the batting side already have north of 600 on the board.

  12. Postpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 30 June

    Derbyshire 112-3 v Lancashire 367

Jimmy Anderson did indeed take the other end at Queens Park after lunch.

Three singles came from the over, with Wayne Madsen moving onto 60*.

  13. Postpublished at 4.1 overs

    Somerset 379 v Notts 20-0

First boundary of the Notts reply as Haseeb Hameed steers Matt Henry into the gap between slips and gully and the ball rolls down to the rope at third man.

  14. 250 runs

for Dom Sibleypublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 30 June

    Surrey 605-3 v Durham

Thoughts are starting to turn to when Rory Burns might consider pulling out and inviting Durham to have a bat.

It probably won't be any time soon, with both Dom Sibley and Dan Lawrence seeing the Kookaburra like the proverbial football and building a potentially impregnable total.

Sibley has now advanced to 250 for the first time in his career in the opening over after lunch, which realised eight runs to the Surrey total.

  15. Afternoon session begins at Southamptonpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 30 June

    Hampshire v Worcestershire 547-5

Jake Libby takes strike on 174* with Gareth Roderick at the other end.

James Fuller takes the first over, seeking to add to his figures of 3-109 from 21 overs.

How he'd like to be off the field this afternoon.

Libby glances a leg-side single to make this Worcestershire's highest ever total against Hampshire.

  16. Play resumes at Hovepublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 30 June

    Sussex 60-0 v Warwickshire 415

Warwickshire need wickets, simple as that.

Corey Rocchiccioli begins their quest with the first over of the afternoon, with Daniel Hughes and Tom Haines seeking to build on their good start.

  17. Postpublished at 3 overs

    Somerset 379 v Notts

Spinner Jack Leach was given one over by Somerset before lunch.

Back to orthodoxy following the re-start at Taunton as Craig Overton replaces him.

  18. Back under way at Chesterfieldpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 30 June

    Derbyshire 109-3 v Lancashire 367

Wayne Madsen and Brooke Guest resume their 74 run partnership as Derbyshire continue the recovery from 35-3.

George Balderson takes the opening over after lunch, but I wonder who'll get the second?

  20. Pitch 'offering something to batters and bowlers'published at 13:30 British Summer Time 30 June

    Sussex 60-0 v Warwickshire 415

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

In another week where the chat around the county circuit is being dominated by the merits or otherwise of the Kookaburra ball, an interesting comparison may unfold here on a pitch which has offered something to both the batters and bowlers, with enough pace to allow strokemakers to flourish and the ball to carry through to the cordon.

This morning, as they did at times yesterday, the Sussex seamers were able to make the ball deviate. Ollie Robinson brought one back in to find Kai Smith’s inside edge, before Gurinder Sandhu shaped one the other way to dismiss Chris Rushworth.

Ethan Bamber showed a willingness to pull the short ball and was given every opportunity to practice the shot, and survived two dropped chances in the outfield before Jack Carson snared him lbw.

Warwickshire’s seamers may be of lesser pace, but are operators of proven high skill. Rushworth, Bamber and Ollie Hannon-Dalby set about looking for the same seam movement, and there was evidence that they found some in a number of inside edges from the left-handers Daniel Hughes and Tom Haines in the hour’s batting before lunch.

But the Bears’ luck was out, and whenever they erred in length – especially too full – both openers showed off a range of straight and cover drives and Rushworth was withdrawn after only three overs.
