  3. Close of play at Chesterfieldpublished at 18:53 British Summer Time 30 June

    Derbyshire 261 v Lancashire 367 & 114-1

A pretty perfect day for the Red Rose, who have their first win of the season within their grasp.

They bowled Derbyshire out in just 67 overs, breaking partnerships at useful times, with Jimmy Anderson picking up the openers early-on as the hosts fell to 35-3 and then George Balderson claiming 4-71, with Wayne Madsen (70) and Martin Andersson (79) providing the main resistance as the hosts gave up a first innings lead of 106.

Lancashire grew that lead to 220 after day two with Keaton Jennings unbeaten on 51 and Josh Bohannon 30 not out at stumps.

if Derbyshire want to stay unbeaten in Division Two they will need to take quick, cheap wickets on the third morning.

It's been a long day and a good one again for Worcestershire.

They have Hampshire under pressure that is for sure.

  5. 'Slater's performance undoubtedly was the best today'published at 18:48 British Summer Time 30 June

    Close: Somerset 379 v Nottinghamshire 214-3

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

The highlights for Somerset was Tom Banton's 84 and that 41 not out from Matt Henry but the best performance of the day undoubtedly that of Ben Slater with his 116 not out.

So Somerset end the day 165 still ahead but Notts have seven wickets in hand.

  6. Postpublished at 18:48 British Summer Time 30 June

    Derbyshire 261 v Lancashire 367 & 113-1

Blair Tickner takes the penultimate over of the day.

Josh Bohannon picks up a single from the first ball to return Keaton Jennings to the strike.

The third ball is followed by Jennings down the leg side but he doesn't get anything on it and Brooke Guest makes a fine tumbling stop diving to his right to save four byes.

Jennings ducks under the fourth ball, leaves the fifth and allows the wayward last to bounce off his right arm to trot through for a bye. Hardy chap..

The lead is 219 with six balls to come from Jack Morley.

  7. Close of play at Cardiffpublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 30 June

    Glamorgan 228-4 v Gloucestershire 380

Colin Ingram reaches 50 in the final over of play by sweeping Graeme van Buuren for four at Sophia Gardens.

Ingram (52 not out) and Ben Kellaway (55) have steadied Glamorgan with an unbroken stand of 107 after the loss of two quick wickets saw them 121-4 in reply to Gloucestershire's 380 all out.

The visitors managed to add 101 to their overnight score thanks to a stand of 89 - a club record for the 10th wicket against Glamorgan - between James Bracey and Archie Bailey.

Bracey was the last to go for 133 as Mason Crane and Timm van der Gugten took four wickets each for the home side.

  8. Postpublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 30 June

Jack Morley sends down a maiden over.

Keaton Jennings seems quite happy to pick this quest back up in the morning.

Two overs left in the day at Queen's Park.

  10. 50 runs

for Keaton Jenningspublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 30 June

    Derbyshire 261 v Lancashire 367 & 111-1

Blair Tickner, with his distinctive, dressage-style run-up, beats the bat as he comes around the wicket to Keaton Jennings first up.

Jennings dabs the next ball back to the big Kiwi and the third is defended into the off-side.

Jennings ducks under a short fourth delivery, with the ball sailing through to keeper Brooke Guest at chest height.

But there it is, jennings drops the fifth delivery down into the off-side and brings up his half-century to go with his first-innings ton, from 66 balls with eight fours.

His side are 217 runs ahead and in firm control.

  11. Close of play at Leicesterpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 30 June

    Leics 103-8 v Middx 534

Naavya Sharma, Middlesex (R)Image source, Rex Features

Roman Walker picks up a couple of runs from the final over the day as Leicestershire clamber up above three figures, but their innings has been wrecked by that remarkable spell from Middlesex youngster Naavya Sharma.

Sharma, playing in only his third County Championship game, has figures of 4-24 after taking all four of those wickets in the space of 11 balls to trigger a Leicestershire collapse despite Rishi Patel's half-century.

They trail Middlesex by 431, with just two wickets standing.

  12. Postpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 30 June

    Derbyshire 261 v Lancashire 367 & 110-1

A nice square drive for four to backward point from Josh Bohannon off spinner Jack Morley takes him to 28* and he and Keaton Jennings add singles to make it six off the over.

Jennings will be on strike on 49* for the next over from Kiwi quick Blair Tickner.

  13. Postpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 30 June

    Derbyshire 261 v Lancashire 367 & 104-1

Keaton Jennings guides Martin Andersson to backward point for a single to move to 48* and Josh Bohannon picks up another from the final ball to make it two off the over and grow the lead to 210.

The Red Rose have been scoring at north of five an over, their plan is pretty simple, get the lead to 400-450 and have four or five sessions to bowl out their hosts to earn a first win of the season at the ninth attempt.

    Simple eh?

Five overs left on the slate at a scorching Queen's Park.

  14. Close of play at Yorkpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 30 June

    Yorks 143-3 v Essex 368

Jonny Bairstow plays out a maiden to Matt Critchley and leaves it to Adam Lyth, a couple of years his senior, to take the final over of the day from Simon Harmer.

Harmer tinkers with the field, bringing in a second slip, but fails to disrupt Lyth's concentration and the opener finishes the day unbeaten on 65, while Bairstow has 14 to his name.

That leaves the game delicately poised, with Yorkshire 225 behind their visitors' first-innings total of 368.

  15. 'You'd rather be Sussex but both teams still have come possibility'published at 18:31 British Summer Time 30 June

    Sussex 278-3 v Warwickshire 415 - close

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

There needs to be a change of pace tomorrow morning if either team is going to force a result.

Sussex will want to score runs quickly, they can't really amble along at this pace otherwise it'll take them till the middle of the afternoon. So they'll need work to just draw level.

I imagine things will happen quicker in the first session tomorrow, it'll be a new ball as well but there's an opening now for Warwickshire. They've dislodged Daniel Hughes and we'll see whether James Coles can play with more fluency tomorrow as the middle order try to push on.

You'd rather be Sussex but both teams still have some possibility of getting somewhere in this game.

  16. Postpublished at 18:28 British Summer Time 30 June

    Derbyshire 261 v Lancashire 367 & 102-1

A back-foot punch from Josh Bohannon for a couple off Anuj Dal brings up the Lancashire 100 and the lead is up to 208 with nine wickets in hand and seven overs remaining in the day at Chesterfield.

Keaton Jennings is on 46* but has slowed down, supporting Bohannon who has hit four fours in his 23* from 22 balls.

  17. Close of play at Canterburypublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 30 June

    Kent 566-8 dec v Northamptonshire 140-1

Calvin Harrison keeps Nathan Gilchrist at bay in the final over of play at the Spitfire Ground and Northants can be satisfied with their recovery following the early loss of Luke Procter.

Kent added 243 to their overnight 325-4 before declaring, with Daniel Bell-Drummond (158) and Harry Finch (118) putting on 206 for the sixth wicket.

Matt Quinn then removed Procter in the seventh over of Northants' reply, but Ricardo Vasconcelos met the situation with some positive strokeplay - two sixes and 11 fours in his 87 not out.

Harrison - again up the order at three - has supported well with 41 and they have so far added 115 together.

  18. Postpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 30 June

    Yorks 141-3 v Essex 368

It's a fascinating tussle between two veterans of the county game, with Simon Harmer bowling to Adam Lyth.

Harmer floats one wide of off stump, tempting the left-hander to swing and miss but, although Michael Pepper takes off the bails, Lyth had remained in his ground.

He's 63 not out, with captain Jonny Bairstow alongside him on 14 and Yorkshire really need this experienced pair to still be in when they resume in the morning.

    Hughes lbw b Rocchiccioli 151 (Sussex 278-3 v Warwickshire 415)

Big blow for the Bears from the penultimate ball of the day.

Alex Davies opts to take the new ball for the final over of the day and hand it to spinner Corey Rocchiccioli for his 35th over of the afternoon.

With his fifth delivery with it the Aussie gets one to skid through the gate and thud the back pad, prompting a big appeal, the finger to go up and his countryman to go on his way.

151 from 260 balls with 26 fours, but there will be no new career best for Hughes in the morning.

James Coles will be 56* not out at the end of a good day for the hosts, who took the two early wickets they desired, pegged the Bears to 416 and then got within 137 of their total by the close.

The only grumble, bar losing Hughes so late, might be the scoring rate which has dropped off during the day, especially with the visitors missing Chris Rushworth who bowled only three overs of the reply before leaving the field.

Leicestershire were 82-2 - they've now lost six wickets for just 17 runs.

Tom Helm has taken the last two wickets to fall, bowling Rishi Patel - the Foxes' last recognised batter - for 51 before having Logan van Beek caught behind.

Leicestershire are still 435 behind, with just under four overs to be bowled tonight.
