It's a four that brings up Bethell's fifty. Straight back into the England side from the IPL and he gets a rousing ovation from the Edgbaston crowd.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Jacob Bethellpublished at 44.4 overs

Back in the team, back in the runs.

The swivel-pull has been Jacob Bethell's main shot today. Four more in that way takes him to his third ODI fifty.

  3. Eng 326-5published at 44.3 overs

    What's England's target here? 370?

I like the way Jacob Bethell's handled himself in these last few overs. He hasn't tried to force it. He's picked his moments and the bowlers he'll take down.

He's hit it hard. Yep, he's hit that hard enough. They're scattering halfway up the terrace.

  6. 6 runs

    Eng 322-5published at 44 overs

    He's middled this one!

Jacob Bethell climbs into a short ball to send a celebrating trio of bananas from their seats in celebration.

    That really boosts the over.

  7. Eng 316-5published at 43.5 overs

Jacob Bethell doesn't middle this but he does find the gap to get four.

  8. Eng 310-5published at 43.3 overs

Matthew Forde starts the over well by mixing his pace. This English pair will be desperate to get one of these final three away.

This could be the over. If I was one of the England batters here, Forde doesn't get a lot of pace so he'd be the one I'd be thinking of targeting.

    Seamer Matthew Forde is back...

Terrible ball. Beautifully played. It was asking for it.

  12. Eng 307-5published at 43 overs

The field is spread far and wide. There are singles wherever you want them with West Indies trying to protect the boundaries.

There is not someone on the fine leg boundary, however, and that's where Will Jacks flicks this leg-stump full toss.

I feel like England's bowling attack is stronger. If they can get 370 or above, they should feel very confident on this surface.

Another six for Bethell. You see him on YouTube, practising hitting those shots, practising at this ground. He knows the dimensions.

  15. 6 runs

    Eng 300-5published at 42.2 overs

That's why we pay Andy the big bucks.

Jacob Bethell is a run away from making that six after clearing the leg-side boundary to loud cheers from this Birmingham crowd.

    300 up.

  16. How's stat?!published at 16:13 British Summer Time 29 May

    Andy Zaltzman
    Test Match Special statistician

This is the fourth time in all international cricket (men and women) that the top five have all reached 35 without anyone scoring more than 60.

It's the second time in men's ODIs (plus one in men's Tests, one in women's ODIs).

  17. Eng 293-5published at 42 overs

There's no real sign of it in this over as Jacob Bethell nudges it around. Justin Greaves stops one well in his follow-through too. West Indies have improved since they were given the run around early on.

When will England start to press, I wonder?

  19. Eng 288-5published at 41 overs

    Bethel 26, Jacks 1

England could easily have asked Will Jacks to open the batting here. He's done it before. They opted for Jamie Smith, however, leaving Jacks to take on this finisher role. He's off with a single on the pull.

Credit to West Indies. They've chipped away and held their catches well. I like that slower ball.

England will want to look back on this game and think if one person went on for that big score. But if they can post the score they need, that's what's vital.
