I’m all for England taking the attack to India, but what’s separating the two sides at the moment is their shot selection and execution. Compare how Tikal Varma played last game with Brook’s choice of shot today and Smith’s execution for his dismissal.

    Overton b Varun 0 (Eng 115-6)

Bowled round the back of the legs!

Two in two for Varun Chakravarthy, taking out Jamie Overton's leg stump as the all-rounder attempted to knock the ball around the corner.

    Hat-trick ball incoming...

Harry Brook has been all at sea in this series. Terrible shot selection again. A promising opportunity to post a challenging total is being wasted.

  9. Eng 108-4published at 13 overs

Here comes Jamie Smith, who made 22 off 12 on debut last time out.

Could he have been out first ball?

A rueful smile from Sanju Samson and replays show he put down a slight inside edge.

Bishnoi goes up for an lbw off the final ball of the over, but no-one else seems interested.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.4 overs

    Brook b Bishnoi 8 (Eng 108-4)

    Bowled him!

Brook goes for the sweep of Ravi Bishnoi and an under-edge jags the ball sharply back onto the stumps.

Another start and stop innings for Brook, after scores of 13 and 17 in the first two T20s.

Prior to the wicket, Livingstone used his feet well before lashing the ball over mid-wicket for four.

Is it just me that quite likes Buttler at three? It means we can afford to lose an early wicket and still have him come out to play whatever role is required.

Up comes England's hundred as Brook knocks the ball to mid-wicket then hurries through a swift two.

Enough of that steady rebuild - Livingstone lifts Axar Patel for six over long-on.

    85 metres on that, apparently.

A seventh bowler for India as Abhishek Sharma and his left-arm spin comes on after the drinks break.

Just four singles from it as England's batters start their rebuild steadily - just 17 runs off the last three overs.

Ben Duckett is the only one who has found the pace of the wicket.

T20 is a balancing act. England had just lost a wicket so did Ben Duckett need to play that shot?

India will love this that they can bowl their spinners against two guys who have hardly faced a ball.

As the players take drinks, the match is in the balance.

England have two new batters in Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone at the crease - can they kick on?

    Duckett c Abhishek b Patel 51 (Eng 87-3)

    But now Duckett departs!

He holes out Abhishek Sharma at deep mid-wicket to bring Patel his first wicket.

England lose a wicket from the final ball of the over for the second over in a row.

  19. 50 runs

50 for Ben Duckettpublished at 9.1 overs

    Eng 84-2

Duckett knocks Axar Patel into the leg side to bring up his 50 from 26 deliveries.

After scores of three and four in the previous two games, he'll be delighted to make a big score.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9 overs

    Buttler c Samson b Varun 24 (Eng 83-2)

A long wait for UltraEdge... gone!

The technology shows the ball brushing the shoulder of the bat on the way through, a smart take from Samson and a good review.

Buttler looked a little shifty, and there's the reason.
