The pressure is on India to get wickets without Jasprit Bumrah. If England bat 140-150 overs they will be in front, with very little time to win the game for India. This pitch is doing nothing.

    Oh, he's stumped.

Jamie Smith whips off the bails and India's innings is finally over.

Siraj st Smith b Bashir 8 (Ind 587 all out)

Mohammed Siraj can resist no longer.

He dances down the pitch to Shoaib Bashir and throws the kitchen sink at the final ball of the England off-spinner's over but cannot make contact.

Quick as you like, Jamie Smith gathers the ball and whips the bails off. Siraj attempts to get his bat back behind the line but it's a forlorn cause.

Shame there’s not a cricketer with the initials LBW.

    That's the spirit, Liam.

More floaty stuff from Shoaib Bashir, hanging it above the eyeline, but Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna show remarkable powers of resistance.

Perhaps India psychologically fancy passing 600.

England could have 600 by close tomorrow on this deck. They could also get bowled out, follow on, and still win. What a time to be an England fan!

  8. Ind 585-9published at 150 overs

Josh Tongue finds the shoulder of Prasidh Krishna's bat with a delivery which climbs into the India batter but the ball drops short of the fielder at point.

India's players watching from the balcony looking very relaxed.

England tick round to the 150th over of the game.

Re Matt, Bristol, 16:23, if there was a cricketer called Harry Lime, he could be caught at third man!

There was a bloke called John Gully who played first-class cricket in NZ in 82/83.

Shoaib Bashir giving the ball plenty of air, dangling the carrot to Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. No real bites in that over, though.

Mohammed Siraj picks up a single off the final ball of Josh Tongue's over. On we go.

Perhaps Ben Duckett could be caught at short leg?

Good question, by the way, Matt.

Australia's Matthew Short caught at short leg, perhaps? Welcome any other suggestions.

This feels like a premeditated ploy from India's for the last wicket.

Rather than playing with wanton abandon there's an emphasis on blocking and waiting for a hittable delivery - Mohammed Siraj duly stays patient before drilling Shoaib Bashir's penultimate delivery down the ground for four.

With Deep caught in the deep, are there many other batters who have been caught in a position they share a name with? Anyone ever take a spectacular catch at silly mid-off to dismiss S.M. Off for example?

It feels as though the game might keep moving forward at a quicker pace now. It's felt rather sedate until now.

The pitch looks dry but the score India have made have puts them in a great position in this game.

Prasidh Krishna joins Mohammed Siraj at the crease. Will India's final pair look to eke out runs, or play some shots?

That’s the best thing that could happen to India. Get England in and try to get a few wickets.

Akash Deep went for the big hit and Ben Duckett was underneath it. It was a straight forward chance.

India's innings is finally coming to a close.
