  1. SL 61-6published at 14 overs

Eight from the Marco Jansen over, one of the more productive for Sri Lanka in this innings.

They have six overs to try and claw their way up to three figures.

  2. 6 runs

    SL 61-6published at 13.4 overs

Top edge from a Sri Lanka batter on the hook... We've seen this a few times today.

But this time the luck is with Dasun Shanaka. The ball sails over fine leg for six!

  3. SL 55-6published at 13.3 overs

Halfway through the 14th over of a T20 match and South Africa have a slip in place.

Finally! Yes, it's a six but it was a sensible, proper cricket shot. He chose his moment properly.

Six! We have something good to say about Sri Lanka's batting.

A little shuffle to the pitch of the ball by Angelo Mathews and he times it beautifully over long-off for the first maximum of the match.

Just seven from Keshav Maharaj's over, though.

  6. SL 46-6published at 12 overs

Dansun Shanaka is out to join Angelo Mathews as Sri Lanka try to recover from what looks a hopeless situation.

South Africa have bowled very well. The pitch hasn't been the easiest to bat on. But Sri Lanka's batting. Well, the less said about it, the better...

He's probably the only batter who can feel he's been a little bit unlucky because he's picked out the one fielder out there. But Sri Lanka are on their way to a hiding.

That's actually the one good bit of timing we've seen all innings, ironically.

    Asalanka c Hendricks b Nortje 6 (SL 45-6)

Straight to the fielder again! The pace of Anrick Nortje does the trick once more.

Charith Asalanka actually makes good, solid contact with this shot to the leg side but it is a big old boundary out there.

So big that Reeza Hendricks doesn't have to move before holding onto the catch a yard or two off the rope.

There's been a lot of focus on the security for the games in New York. There's certainly a strong visual presence.

"There's tanks here they didn't even have at Taylor Swift concert recently," US cricket expert Peter Della Penna just told me a little earlier. You can hear the buzz of helicopters buzzing overhead.

I've just spoken to a couple of mounted officers from Nassau County Police who were both in jovial spirits. Everyone inside the ground seems very relaxed.

Mathews has dug Sri Lanka out of plenty of holes during his long career, but this may be his most substantial task yet.

  12. SL 44-5published at 11 overs

The last thing Sri Lanka need in this situation? You guessed it. A run out.

Well, Charith Asalanka didn't get the memo. He plays the ball into the covers, wanders halfway down the track and then realises Angelo Mathews isn't running.

Asalanka turns back and just about makes his ground with a dive.

South Africa's bowling attack looks absolutely perfect for these conditions.

They'll do well to get to three figures from here.

    SL 40-5

With 10 overs gone, South Africa could hardly have dreamt things would have gone this well.

    Sri Lanka. Well, the opposite.

Half the team is gone, half the overs have gone.

Kusal Mendis just couldn't get going at all.

    Mendis c Stubbs b Nortje 19 (SL 40-5)

Kusal Mendis is put out of his misery.

It was a struggle from the off for the Sri Lanka opener and with so few runs on the board, he had to keep looking for the boundaries.

He did so again here but doesn't get enough distance on the pull shot off Anrich Nortje.

The ball did go a long way up, though, and Tristan Stubbs does very well to get underneath it to take the catch in the deep.

South Africa's bowlers haven't had to do anything differently. They haven't bowled a single variation because they haven't had to. Just come in and bowl your best ball, it's been very straightforward for them.

  19. SL 36-4published at 9 overs

No hat-trick for Keshav Maharaj but it's a wonderful over from the left-arm spinner.

Charith Asalanka glances the hat-trick ball to fine leg for a couple. All useful runs for Sri Lanka after such a disappointing start.

He's trying to cut a ball from off stump, first ball - having just seen his captain get out. It's not looking good for Sri Lanka at all.
