  1. Yorkshire lead reaches 300published at 12:12 27 May

    Northants 301 v Yorks 362 & 239-6 - lead by 300

Jonathan Tattersall takes two boundaries in three balls off Rob Keogh, dancing down the wicket to thrash the second through the offside for four.

Shan Masood then clips aroudn the corner to thre third man boundary as Justin Broad strays onto the batter's pads.

Masood then drives over extra cover, clearing Kyle Bartlett, for a second four of the over.

Ten from the over and Yorkshire look to be accelerating.

A single from the first ball of the next and the lead is 300.

  2. Postpublished at 12:10 27 May

    Kent 394 & 36-2 v Essex 591-7 dec

Daniel Bell-Drummond is looking to use his feet to Simon Harmer to try and nullify any spin. Could be risky if the ball bounces more than he expects, with a short leg in position.

Just a couple of singles from that over. Kent need to score another 161 to clear the first-innings deficit.

  3. Postpublished at 12:06 27 May

    Northants 301 v Yorks 362 & 220-6 - lead by 281

Justin Broad lets out a shout as he comes around the wicket and angles one across Shan Masood.

It hits his pad low down but was sliding down leg. They run a leg bye.

Jonny Tattershall dashes for a quick single and survives a hairy moment as the direct hit attempt misses.

Masood is beaten again by Broad who strikes him on his thigh.

The Yorkshire skipper then pounces as the bowler drags one down, pulling it handsomely for four and moves to 106.

  4. 50 for Jack Daviespublished at 12:04 27 May

    Middx 462-6 v Sussex 554-9 dec

Jack Davies utilises the sweep to good effect again as he finds the boundary once more.

He then tucks Jack Carson away for a single to reach his second 50 of the season - and third of his career - off 94 balls.

  5. Impending T20 Blast start distracting Championship viewerspublished at 12:04 27 May

    Glos 470-5 v Derbs 526

Ed Seabourne on Glos comms' attention turns to the Somerset v Gloucestershire Seconds T20 just about to get underway at Taunton Vale (free entry and a free youtube live stream for any short of cricket in the South West on bank holiday monday).

Somerset's early Championship loss at Durham allows the likes of Tom Lammonby and James Rew the potential chance to play today and push to get into the all important T20 Blast title defence commencing at home to Essex (who else?!) on Friday.

  6. 'A super knock from Shan Masood'published at 12:02 27 May

    Northants 301 v Yorks 362 & 214-6 - lead by 275

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Shan Masood goes to 100 for the second time in the 2024 campaign and for the 27th time in his first-class career.

That is a super knock from him under fairly challenging circumstances in terms of his own personal wellbeing because he took a clonk somewhere around the head area earlier on today and in addition to that, yesterday he had that wrist injury that he's still carrying.

He needed a few and he's got a few here with runs in both innings.

  7. Postpublished at 12:00 27 May

    Glos 466-5 v Derbs 526

Into da Pavilion says Daryn Dupavillon as Beau Webster smashes one very high, over the head of said fielder, over the short boundary for six.

GVB follows him with six pulled off Luis Reece into the car park, nearly into a yellow convertible with his roof down, next over too.

  8. Postpublished at 12:00 27 May

    Leics 343-9 dec v Glamorgan 387 & 34-1 - lead by 78

Nothing much to report at Grace Road as Eddie Byrom and Marnus Labuschagne move along at a sedate pace.

Scott Currie angles one into the knee roll of Marnus Labuschagne's front pad and turns to appeal. More in hope than expectation perhaps - it looked a little leg side.

    And then, what's this?

Labuschagne threads the eye of the needle, beating the dives of Peter Handscomb at short extra cover and Ian Holland at cover for a rare boundary.

He moves into double figures off 44 balls.

Is this the 'acid test' for Kent? Here comes Simon Harmer.

    Looks like it.

Ben Compton pushes forward to the South African's third delivery but it hurries on quicker than he anticipated and he is gone.

    Game very much on.

  10. Postpublished at 11:56 27 May

    Middx 451-6 v Sussex 554-9 dec

A couple of singles off James Coles and Middlesex move past 450.

    They are 103 behind.

  11. Full batting points for Glospublished at 11:52 27 May

    Glos 450-5 v Derbs 526

It was never in doubt really.

Beau Webster's booming drives have him 28* off 37 balls.

GVB takes a single to equal his Glos first-class best, on 172*, but still some way to his career-best 235 in South African domestic cricket.

  12. 200 up for Yorkshirepublished at 11:52 27 May

    Northants 301 v Yorks 362 & 200-6 - lead by 261

Jonathan Tattersall pushes nicely through the covers to his fifth ball from Ben Sanderson and is off the mark with a single.

Justin Broad immediately goes past the outside edge of Tattersall's bat. A neither here nor there shot. Maiden.

Shan Masood picks up a single off the first ball of Sanderson's next over as Yorks reach 200 and lead by 261.

They'll want to up the pace but the Northants bowling has been tight this morning.

  13. Postpublished at 11:52 27 May

    Kent 394 & 28-1 v Essex 591-7 dec

Aaron Beard is short of a length and Daniel Bell-Drummond cracks it through the covers off the back foot for four.

Jamie Porter will start a new spell from the other end? How long before we see the Essex spin twins, Harmer and Critchley?

  14. Early lunch at New Roadpublished at 11:51 27 May

    Worcs 80 v Notts 234-3

Time is running out for Notts to force a win as a seventh session of the match is lost to rain.

Lunch to be taken at 12.30pm, with an inspection scheduled thereafter.

The sun is currently out. So long as there are blue skies we have hope.

  15. Postpublished at 11:49 27 May

    Middx 449-6 v Sussex 554-9 dec

Just Jack (no, not the Will And Grace variety) - it's Carson to Davies again at Lord's.

Jack Davies sweeps for four before Nathan Fernandes adds a couple from the next over, bowled by James Coles.

  16. Postpublished at 11:45 27 May

    Glos 442-5 v Derbs 526

Derbyshire commentator Dave Fletcher is watching mirages in Bristol there has been such domination by the batters in this game.

He is sure Graeme van Buuren has just been dropped behind, but he was not, it did not carry, but such is Derbyshire's desperation to take another wicket here they will appeal for anything.

I do not think any county of the 18 can boast a batter of the calibre of Beau Webster at number seven, ridiculous riches from Gloucestershire with two of the best Aussie overseas recruitments in recent years.

Eight more runs for maximum batting points, nine overs should be plenty, nine more balls, ditto I reckon.

  17. WICKET Luxton c Nair b Sanderson 27published at 11:44 27 May

    Northants 301 v Yorks 362 & 198-6 - lead by 259

Ben Sanderson hits the pitch hard and finds the outside edge of Will Luxton's bat.

Not for the first time this morning, but this time he has his man.

It goes quickly and low to Karun Nair at first slip who scoops it up into the air and pouches it at the second attempt.

Jonny Tattersall comes to the crease.

  18. Postpublished at 11:42 27 May

    Kent 394 & 21-1 v Essex 591-7 dec

Ben Compton and DBD have already demonstrated they won't be playing at anything they don't need to as they look to see off the new ball, so the onus is on Essex to keep tracking the ball towards the stumps.

Another tidy over by Aaron Beard. Nine gone. Shane Snater continues from the other end.

  19. 12:15 BST start at Old Trafford.published at 11:41 27 May

    Lancs 149 v War 284 & 96-3

BST stands for British Summer Time I believe, not Spring time even though the first 'half' of this wonderful competition is being completed before even June commences.

Lunch at 1, which yes does seem daft I agree, sadly Championship rules slightly shooting themselves in the feet again, playing for just 45 minutes, then going off for 40 minutes, could they not just have a brunch now!?

(Timings are fixed on day four of the CC according to the laws do not forget).

76 overs left....Weather and any potential early handshake permitting...

Former Worcestershire allrounder Ed Barnard can resume 40* with Dan Mousley 18*.

  20. 100 for Shan Masoodpublished at 11:41 27 May

    Northants 301 v Yorks 362 & 197-5 - lead by 258

    Shan MasoodImage source, Getty Ima

Shan Masood moves to his 27th first-class century from 126 balls as he guides Justin Broad through the vacant third man area for four.

A fitting way to reach the landmark.

He's had a quiet season with the bat, but it’s the second time he’s reached three figures following his 140 at Bristol and follows up his first innings 60.

It also brings up the 50 partnership with Will Luxton, made at a decent lick off 66 balls.
