  1. WICKET Davies c Simpson b Carson 68published at 12:36 27 May

    Middx 492-7 v Sussex 554-9 dec

First wicket of the day at Lord's.

Out of nowhere, Jack Carson finds some sharp turn away from the bat and John Simpson makes no mistake behind the stumps.

Luke Hollman comes out at number nine.

  2. Six!published at 12:35 27 May

    Middlesex 492-6 v Sussex 554-9 dec

Slog sweep by Jack Davies off Jack Carson - that has enough travel on it to fly into the stand at mid-wicket.

Next over, Tom Clark finds the edge, but there are no slips and that's four more for Davies, who is 68 not out.

He and Nathan Fernandes (81) have now added 119.

  3. 50 for Websterpublished at 12:35 27 May

    Glos 498-9 v Derbs 526

I said Beau Webster is the best number seven in the entire County Championship and he is showing that and that he is batting far too low here as he is stranded on 46* with just his number 11 for company now.

He turns down singles off the opening four balls of Sam Conners 22nd over, most of which were pummelled through the onside to the boundary riders.

The fifth ball is stra-pulled for four, Marcus Stoinis style over mid on, his first 50 for Glos, but it means little to him, he has scored much harder 50s than this.

A wide and a six complete an over that could have gone for many more.

This game is drifting towards a very tame draw, which is a shame for a keenly anticipated match featuring the top two in the division.

The pitch has offered precious little to the bowlers since the opening morning, and through no fault of the players is not a good advert for the County Championship.

One listener has asked whether pitches that offer very little chance of a result should be subject to an inspection, as they are when a game is finished very early. It’s a fair point.

  5. Wicket, Five-wicket haul & hat-trick chance for Chappell!!published at 12:30 27 May

    Glos 487-9 v Derbs 526

MDL does not get any runs that the watching Glos fans wanted, first ball he is lbw to a searing yorker from Chappell who has bowled superbly here on a flat deck.

    5-49 off 17 overs.

He attempts the same ball for his hat-trick, it does hit the foot of the home side's number 11 Ajeet-Singh-Dale but it is going down the legside.

  6. WICKET Bell-Drummond lbw Critchley 20published at 12:30 27 May

    Kent 394 & 45-4 v Essex 591-7 dec

    Absolutely zero doubt about that.

DBD goes back to Matt Critchley, the ball keeps low and he is plumb.

The taste of victory is probably tingling the collective Essex tastebuds now.

  7. WICKET Byrom lbw b Currie 30published at 12:28 27 May

    Leics 343-9 dec v Glamorgan 387 & 63-2 - lead by 107

Glamorgan lose their first wicket of the day.

Eddie Byrom tries to drive Scott Currie but misses and the ball clips the knee roll of his back pad.

It sails through to wicketkeeper Ben Cox who takes the catch.

There's confusion at the mode of dismissal but goes into the scorebook as leg before.

Kiran Carlson is under way immediately with a first-ball boundary.

  8. WICKET: Taylor c Conners b Chappell 3published at 12:28 27 May

    Glos 487-8 v Derbs 526

Another for Chappell (4-49) who was on loan here for Gloucestershire along with Brad Wheal and Jacob Bethell in the same game do not forget!

One-handed bench carrier Marchant De Lange marches to the wicket with perhaps even more of a licence to thrill than usual here, trailing by 39 probably not being relevant to his game plan as this game has draw as the most likely result still.

  9. Glamorgan take lead past 100published at 12:26 27 May

    Leics 343-9 dec v Glamorgan 387 & 62-1 - lead by 106

Eddie Byrom drives nicely through the covers for four to take the Glamorgan lead into three figures.

The Glamorgan opener then drives Matt Salisbury down the ground and the ball thuds into the advertising hoardings at long on.

That's two in the over from Byrom - as many as he'd taken from his previous 66 balls. He moves to 30.

  10. WICKET O'Riordan c Browne b Harmer 9published at 12:25 27 May

    Kent 394 & 45-3 v Essex 591-7 dec

That's what Simon Harmer was looking for.

A looping delivery, a bit of turn, Marcus O'Riordan goes back and an inside edge onto his pad is snaffled by a diving Nick Browne at short leg.

Wicket maiden - Joe Denly is the next man in. Kent have their two most experienced bats together and they'll need every ounce of that experience in this situation.

  11. Postpublished at 12:24 27 May

    Kent 394 & 45-2 v Essex 591-7 dec

Matt Critchley bustles through his first over of leg-spin in this innings after taking 5-88 in the first. Two singles for Kent, whose deficit is now 152.

  12. Rain stops playpublished at 12:21 27 May

    Northants 301 v Yorks 362 & 251-6 - lead by 312

Shan Masood aims an almighty heave at a ball that turns from Rob Keogh but misses.

It goes right through and almost clips the top of leg stump but runs away for four byes.

Immediately the umpires order the players from the field as the spits and spots of rain grow heavier.

  13. Postpublished at 12:20 27 May

    Middx 474-6 v Sussex 554-9 dec

Sussex have now deployed the relatively unthreatening Tom Clark. His second over yields just a single to Nathan Fernandes.

  14. Postpublished at 12:19 27 May

    Kent 394 & 43-2 v Essex 591-7 dec

This is a test of nerve for Marcus O'Riordan, who is playing only his second Championship game of the season.

Simon Harmer now has two short legs in place and has removed his shades so O'Riordan can see the whites of his eyes.

Harmer allows a little bit of width and the batter takes two with an ungainly push through point.

  15. 50 up for Glamorganpublished at 12:18 27 May

    Leics 343-9 dec v Glamorgan 387 & 50-1 - lead by 94

Stately progress at Grace Road this morning as Glamorgan reach 50 in the 23rd over of their secon innings.

Eddie Byrom drives through the leg side for two to bring up the landmark.

They lead by 94. This one seems to be fizzling out.

  16. WICKET: Middleton c Guest b Chappell for 1published at 12:18 27 May

    Glos 477-7 v Derbs 526

Gutting for Ed Middleton having had his pads on a fair while yesterday and into this morning.

Zak Chappell bowls him a fair beauty, continuing as the pick of the away side's bowling, he had to play at that which could have been lbw or bowled if he did not.

    Matt Taylor in now.

  17. Early lunch at 12:30published at 12:16 27 May

    Lancashire 149 v Warwickshire 284 & 96-3

Rain at Old TraffordImage source, BBC Sport

More rain in Manchester means we are going to have lunch at 12:30 BST.

The plan is for cricket to begin at 13:10, with a possible 72 overs, although that currently feels about as effective of one of Baldrick's plans in Blackadder!

All very dreich as the Scots would say.

  18. 'A spectacular innings from van Buuren'published at 12:15 27 May

    Glos 476-6 v Derbs 526

    Ed Seabourne
    BBC Radio Bristol

A spectacular innings from Graeme van Buuren.

He was such a fan favourite even before he came to the captaincy role.

This is his highest innings for Gloucestershire. It was an absolute onslaught

  19. Postpublished at 12:15 27 May

    Northants 301 v Yorks 362 & 242-6 - lead by 303

Yorkshire batting coach Ali Maiden last night said they were looking for an extra 120 runs today.

They've added 86 so far this morning.

  20. WICKET: van Buuren c Madsen b Conners 187published at 12:14 27 May

    Glos 476-6 v Derbs 526

Good catch at a wide, singular slip.

Sam Conners picks up his second wicket (2-90) and crucially just in time to earn Derbyshire a second bowling bonus point - thus they lead on first innings bonus points.

His highest innings for Gloucestershire, but as previously mentioned, not his first-class best - that his 235 for Northerns in South Africa.

236 balls including three sixes for GVB.

Young Devoninan leg-spinner Ed Middleton comes into join Beau Webster on 39*.
