  1. Which franchise league is most entertaining?published at 19:55 British Summer Time 5 August

While we wait for the teams to come back out, time to have a little ponder.

The men's cricket world is awash with franchise leagues.

There's the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the SA20.

Australia's Big Bash is one of the originals, and there are others in the Caribbean (CPL), and United Arab Emirates (ILT20).

Then there's The Hundred - the 100-ball outlier.

That's to name just a few... but which is the best league?

BBC Sport, with help from CricViz, looks at some key metrics to try to answer that very question.

It looked as though London Spirit were confused about the style they wanted to go with. That's not to take away from how good the Invincibles were.

Invincibles have a core group of players and they have played like a team who know what each of their roles are. Khan is such a good potion to add into the mix as well.

    Thanks Sam.

    Invincibles' game, surely.

How fast could they conceivably race to their target?

  5. Invincibles need 81 to winpublished at 19:45 British Summer Time 5 August

Women's defending champions London Spirit won the opening game of this double-header, men's holders Oval Invincibles are halfway to doing the same.

It feels like a foregone conclusion but cricket has a funny way of making you look silly for making those kind of statements. Surely not this time though, right?

To find out if Spirit can somehow defend 80, it's over to Mike Peter.

High class from the Invincibles. It is not a great looking batting card. Turner is the only player who played with any kind of intent with 21.

That's a card you don't want to see.

That completely foxed Gleeson. I used to bowl faster than that and I was a spinner!

Spirit will be disappointed with that, there is nothing to work with.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 94 balls

    Gleeson b S Curran 3 (Spirit 80 all out)

Bowled 'im - with perhaps the slowest slower ball of the lot!

Sam Curran's moonball does the trick again. Richard Gleeson saw the ball go up, couldn't resist having a swing but is in too much of a rush.

He misses horribly, the ball plinks into off stump and Spirit are bowled out for 80 - the second-lowest score in The Hundred by a men's team.

    Phil Tufnell
Former England spinner on BBC Two

Sam Curran has so much variation in his bowling attack. He has the slower ball, the cutter, the knuckle ball. He is like a liquorice all sort coming down at you - you never know what you are going to get.

  10. Spirit 79-9published at 92 balls

    Nearly all over.

Richard Gleeson calls for a quick single, Tawanda Muyeye swoops in the covers and has a shy at the stumps.

Had he hit, Dan Worrall was a long way short of his ground.

  11. Spirit 78-9published at 90 balls

Tom Curran sticks with the slower balls and neither Richard Gleeson or Dan Worrall can get hold of them.

Four singles from the set, 10 balls to go and anything that involves batting the innings will be a bonus for Spirit from here.

Sam Curran's wicket ball to Ashton Turner was clocked at just 47.7 mph.

It's the slowest wicket-taking delivery by a pace bowler in men's Hundred history, beating a 48.6 mph delivery also bowled by Sam Curran to dismiss Zak Crawley in the 2023 edition.

  13. Spirit 76-9published at 87 balls

    Record avoided!

London Spirit go past the 75 made by Birmingham Phoenix against Manchester Originals. It's not much but it's just shows it could be (slightly) worse for the hosts.

  14. Spirit 74-9published at 85 balls

Dan Worrall just about gets through Rashid Khan's last three balls.

A big googly first up hit him on the pad but it was doing too much.

Some debut for Rashid, though. The leg-spinner ends with 3-11 from his 20 balls.

Nothing is going right for the Spirit. Higgins tried the reverse and gets the middle of the bat on it but again, it finds the fielder.

The Spirit's lowest score in the Hundred is 92 and they look on course to beat that record.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 82 balls

    Higgins c T Curran b Rashid Khan 12 (Spirit 74-9)

The (unwanted) record is still on.

Ryan Higgins goes for the reverse and hits it straight to Tom Curran.

Catch taken above his head and Rashid Khan has 3-11 - and three balls left to bowl.

  17. Spirit 74-8published at 80 balls

With 20 balls left in the innings, Rashid Khan is coming on to bowl his last five.

Another simple catch for Rashid Khan. Spirit are really battling.

Wood was looking to take on the longer of the boundaries, down the slope but Khan manages to keep his eye on the ball in the sun.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 79 balls

    Wood c Rashid Khan b S Curran 5 (p74-8)

    Sam Curran has his second.

Luke Wood is the latest to go for London Spirit, picking out Rashid Khan at deep mid-wicket as he tries to clear the ropes.

A third catch for Rashid Khan to go with his two wickets - and Spirit are still a run shy of the record low score...

  20. Spirit 73-7published at 78 balls

    Runs! Four of them!

They all count for London Spirit. Ryan Higgins drills Sam Curran through the covers to keep the home fans something to cheer.

Four more. Finds the gap on the leg side this time and Spirit are now just a couple of runs shy of the lowest total in The Hundred men's competition.
