If you are wondering why India have not declared yet then scroll down and read Steven Finn's observations. It's all about having two bites with the new ball this evening and then again in the morning.

Of course, if weather interrupts things tomorrow then India will leave themselves less time to bowl England out.

Three runs off Shoaib Bashir's over.

I know chasing down big totals with lots of boundaries is fun, but if we persist we've these pitches we might as well just wheel out bowling machines instead of players.

What you are doing in this situation is looking at India's dressing room to see who has their whites on and if you see the bowlers with their whites on then the declaration is coming soon. But if you see them with their flip flops on, then the punishment is continuing.

India showing their class. Great batting from Shubman Gill, leading from the front and deserves man of the match despite Jamie Smith's heroics.

Let's face it England have been largely outplayed over the two Tests, winning the first one due to India's lapses in concentration. A major rethink is needed for the third Test.

There are still 27 overs left from the end of this over and even with the two overs that you lose. It kind of makes sense for them to bat on, the pitch isn't deteriorating enough for it to spin. The new ball and the second new ball is the most critical aspect of this Test.

If India were to declare with 15 overs - that is one new ball stint, your bowlers rest up and freshen over night and you come back tomorrow morning with similar condition and you have another attempt with a 15-over ball - that is your second bite and you are giving yourself another chance with the second new ball later tomorrow.

Having been an avid fan and watcher of Test cricket from the 70s to current day, I have watched and admired some true greats of the game from various countries. I now truly believe I am watching a modern day great in Shubman Gill. He is making batting look ridiculously easy!

Chris Woakes wisely withdrawn from the attack after being tapped. Joe Root into the attack for England. I say 'attack' in the loosest sense of the word, but given he's bowling wide outside off stump in a defensive way.

Everybody waiting for when this declaration will come.

This hour until the declaration is going to feel slow but then the game is going to heat up.

I think the amount of overs England's bowlers have sent down means their attack has to be refreshed to some degree for the next Test at Lord's which starts on Thursday.

Umpire Chris Gaffney has just given the left-handed Ravindra Jadeja a ticking off for running up the pitch again during Shoaib Bashir's last over.

When was the last time England or anyone changed an entire bowling attack from one match to the next? Dawson, Overton, Atkinson, and Archer for the next Test please!

TV pictures have cut to the India dressing room where Mohammed Siraj is with Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant rummaging around in a box of Dukes balls, picking the cherry they want for when the declaration does come.

Shoaib Bashir emerges from the remainder of his over relatively unscathed.

England still working hard in the field, putting their bodies on the line as Chris Woakes attempts to keep it wicket to wicket.
