  1. Ire 38-1published at 5 overs

Need 132 runs from 90 balls

How long until I have to go in search of the eyes emoji? Kate Cross brings herself back on but is also hit to the fence.

Is it on? Ireland are still behind the required scoring rate, such is their task.

That dive from Charis Pavely was the sort you put in to show your fielding coach you were trying. She was miles off!

  3. Ire 31-1published at 4 overs

    Target 170

England skipper Kate Cross turns to Issy Wong's pace after that expensive over. The second delivery is timed beautifully by Gaby Lewis for four runs.

Wong responds well before offering too much width with the final ball. That's dispatched too, this time by Prendergast.

  4. Ire 21-1published at 3 overs

    Target 170

Left-arm spinner Charis Pavely, who took three wickets on debut yesterday, is on to bowl the third over.

Gaby Lewis gets down to hit a four down to fine leg, albeit a little edgily. The next ball beats bat and the keeper Seren Smale and runs for four byes.

    A decent start for Ireland.

  5. Ire 13-1published at 2 overs

    Lewis 2, Prendergast 6

Orla Prendergast has come out looking much like she did in her 34-ball 52 yesterday as Ryana MacDonald-Gay is biffed down the ground.

MacDonald-Gay bustles in with her seam. There are a couple of wides in there too with the ball swinging away from the right-handers a little too much.

Ryana MacDonald-Gay is going to share the new ball on debut.

  7. Ire 2-1published at 1 over

    Target 170

Orla Prendergast scored an impressive fifty in defeat yesterday. It's probably not a bad thing for Ireland she is in early.

    She's their best player.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 0.4 overs

    Hunter c Armitage b Cross 1 (Ire 2-1)

Once again England strike early. Amy Hunter tries to smash Kate Cross over the top but only skies the ball to cover.

  9. Ire 1-0published at 0.3 overs

    Target 170

In Clontarf, Ireland have just begun their chase of 170.

They fell well short in pursuit of 177 yesterday. This, again, would be their highest T20 international chase.

In terms of the men, England and Australia's attention now turns to a five-match ODI series, which starts on Thursday.

The first match is at Trent Bridge and, four days out, the weather forecast looks good.

    Breaking

    Bad news from Old Trafford.

The umpires have decided there is no chance of play.

The match has been abandoned and the T20 series finishes 1-1.

  12. England set target of 170published at 16:19 British Summer Time 15 September

If Saturday was any kind of yardstick, 170 will be too much for Ireland - but they were much better in the field today, so maybe their batters can take this on.

Anyway, to guide you through the Ireland innings and with any updates from Old Trafford here is, truly, a man for all seasons, Matthew Henry.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 20.0 overs

Wong run out (Sargent) 4 (Eng 169-8)

Izzy Wong edges to third off the final ball, and having run two she carelessly walks out looking for an impossible third. Keeper Amy Hunter takes off the bails as the England innings ends in quizzical fashion.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.3 overs

Pavely run out (Paul) 8 (Eng 163-7)

Charis Pavely swipes to leg, and good work from Leah Paul means that Pavely is well short as she dives in trying to make her ground for a second.

  15. Eng 160-6published at 19 overs

Arlene Kelly takes the final over, can England get up to 170-ish?

  16. Eng 157-6published at 18.4 overs

Mady Villiers and Charis Pavely have some work to do here, but Pavely gets a valuable four with a touch of luck - the ball bounces up and over the hand of Coulter-Reilly as she dives.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.2 overs

    Adams b Prendergast 23 (Eng 153-6)

Orla Prendergast shivers the timbers again!

Georgia Adams steps outside off stump to try a paddle shot but misses it completely, and the off stump goes a-cartwheeling.

  18. Eng 153-5published at 18 overs

The rest of Aimee Maguire's over is tidy, Adams and Villiers can only nudge and nurdle it a bit.

  19. Eng 147-5published at 17.1 overs

Georgia Adams delicately glides Prendergast to the boundary for a much-needed four, and then early in the next over she dives Aimee Maguire to the rope at cover.

It's raining again at Old Trafford. Not too heavily but the ground staff are nailing down the covers and heading off.

That suggests it's about to get heavy. With less than two hours until play needs to have started, that's not good news.
