What a terrific catch behind the stumps!

Rahul gets a very feint edge.

'Terrific catch behind the stumps!' - Rahul dismissed for 23 after feint outside edge

    Well taken, Tom Latham!

Mitchell Santner fires it in, KL Rahul essays to push to off but he edges it and the Kiwi keeper, with hardly any time to think, pouches the chance with aplomb.

  3. Ind 182-5published at 39 overs

Despite Will O'Rourke's pace, Hardik Pandiya is keen to get down the track but it is the bowler who dictates terms - he digs it in and the batter can only just get on top of a dab down to third.

    Good stuff all round.

  4. Ind 177-5published at 38 overs

New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner brings himself back on and concedes four in singles.

I'm not so sure my prediction of 280 still holds water with New Zealand chipping away here.

This is my first match in Dubai after following England around Pakistan and it’s really noticeable how different the atmosphere is.

There’s a DJ revving up the thousands of India fans. This really could be a match in Mumbai.

  6. Ind 173-5published at 37 overs

Hardik Pandya replaces Shreyas Iyer, facing a fired-up Will O'Rourke who bowls at 88mph with his fifth delivery.

There's a bit of a fumble from Tom Latham behind the stumps off the last ball, allowing a bye to be run.

I think he was looking to up the run rate.

It was a good knock but probably not a good time for him to be losing his wicket.

That is the end of a terrific innings from Sheryas Iyer. He was looking to accelerate.

He's sort of done his job.

    Shreyas Iyer c Young b O'Rourke 79 (Ind 172-5)

    Media caption,

'Takes it easily!' - Shreyas Iyer caught by Young at square leg for 79

Shreyas Iyer's fine knock is over! He tried another pull off Will O'Rourke but it looped gently into the leg side where it was safely pouched by Will Young, proving for New Zealand where there's a Will, there's a way.

  10. Ind 170-4published at 36 overs

After that glut of runs, six from Rachin Ravindra's sixth over with a single from each delivery calms things down a little bit. But it still feels like India are all set to up the ante for the rest of the innings.

By some, this match was billed as a dead rubber, but there is a meaningful prize for winning: the loser has to play South Africa in the semi-final. I think both teams would be happy to delay their match against South Africa until the final. The Proteas look like they're in top form recently.

Great shot down the ground to finish off the over.

10 runs in consecutive overs for India.

It's an unbelievable shot from Shreyas Iyer. He's taken his time but now will be looking for a big score.

    Ind 164-4published at 35 overs

Shreyas Iyer seems keen to get on with, hooking O'Rourke over square leg but he mistimes it and Will Young, running in from the boundary, cannot get to catching chance. Instead, the ball hits him and rebounds back towards the wickets so at least he saved some runs.

But Shreyas makes amends off the last delivery, lifting the paceman over long on for a mighty six that lands just wide of a camera position.

At the minute Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are ticking along quite nicely.

There is a little turn in the surface which gets me excited.

  15. Ind 154-4published at 34 overs

That six early in the over means India can be risk-free and still take 10 from Rachin Ravindra.

Meanwhile Will O'Rourke is back for his fifth over, replacing Michael Bracewell with the first pace we've seen for quite a while.

Rachin Ravindra also drops short but Shreyas Iyer climbs right into it, pulling the ball away and high over the mid-wicket boundary sponge.

I'm getting shivers thinking about Varun Chakravarthy bowling to some of these New Zealand batters.

Score Predictor on screen tells us the projected total is down to 268 at the moment, as Michael Bracewell concedes six from his eighth over. He drops short a couple of times but gets away with it, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer not managing to find the boundary

That's a nice way to get your scoring moving from KL Rahul. Just a little shimmy and down the ground.

  20. Ind 136-4published at 32.4 overs

Shreyas Iyer unveils the reverse sweep/slap but only gets one run, while KL Rahul opts for something more textbook with a lovely lift over mid-on for his first four.
