Williamson is going to have to play the anchor role.

Glenn Phillips is such a good player and a lot relies on him now.

Latham is shaking his head and is resigned to his fate.

    Ravindra Jadeja has delivered.

Just when you think New Zealand are in control of this game India roar right back.

    Latham lbw b Jadeja 14 (NZ 133-4)

Tom Latham reverse sweeps at Ravindra Jadeja but misses and is plumb in front. There's a brief chat about a possible review, but he knew his fate and opts against it.

  4. NZ 132-3published at 32 overs

Watching Kane Williamson tick over like this is, in its own way, a joy to behold and reminds me of, amongst others, Allan Lamb from back in the day and Joe Root. They're all the kind of players that score rapidly without seemingly hitting out.

Latham has played this perfectly and he's batting at not quite a run a ball.

It sounds simple but he's watching the ball onto his bat and not doing anything silly.

Excellent stop by Axar to prevent the boundary.

Williamson really got a hold of that. He's measured his gaps really well.

He knows he's the key for his team now.

  7. NZ 131-3published at 31.3 overs

Kane Williamson advances and gets on top of the bounce to cut through the off side, but it is cut off just inside the rope for two.

  8. NZ 128-3published at 31 overs

Ravindra Jadeja is on fast-forward mode with another rapidly delivered over that concedes just three runs.

But here comes Mohammed Shami, who struggled in his first three overs after being hit between the shoulder blades when batting.

New Zealand, experienced as ever, have managed to come through and are edging in front.

It looks like it should be straight forward but maybe not on this pitch.

Kuldeep Yadav drags it back a bit, with just three taken.

That means that New Zealand need 125 from 120 deliveries.

These two look like they're in a bit of a rhythm, delaying things and playing the game at their speed.

  13. NZ 122-3published at 29 overs

Another way of extending or slowing down an over and annoying the bowler is hitting him for four, and Kane Williamson does that with an exquisite drive over cover point.

Latham still pinches the strike as they burgle eight from the over.

I think there's a definite plan from New Zealand to slow Jadeja down in his overs.

Daryl Mitchell reviewed, but he knew the game was up, I think.

    Target 250

Kane Williamson is so unruffled, he's been in this position so often down the years. If he looks 'ruffled' at any point, I'll let you know.

Tom Latham is still finding his feet, watching Kuldeep Yadav rip one past his outside edge into the gloves of KL Rahul.

    NZ 110-3

Ohhhh, that's nice from Ravindra Jadeja as he turns one past the outside edge although Kane Williamson had gone off balance.

But he makes up for it with a tickle off his legs for four that also brings up his half century off the final delivery of that over.

  18. NZ 106-3published at 26.3 overs

A wobbly moment as Williamson lifts the ball over the infield but gets two with no fielder close to claiming a catch.

India are favourites again... it's too close to call this one, isn't it?

  20. NZ 104-3published at 26 overs

The pressure eases with four wides off the first ball that Latham faces, then he and Williamson eke out six more runs with a well-hustled two off the final delivery.
