  1. LANCSHIRE BOWLED OUT FOR 114published at 15.3 overs
    Breaking

    Sussex v Lancs 114

Saqib Mahmood is all at sea as he struggles to get willow on leather to Jofra Archer's final over.

And that's it as the third ball smacks into middle stump. Two for Archer on his return.

A pretty poor show from the visitors with only Keaton Jennings (37) and Liam Livingstone (43) making any impact.

They leave four-and-a-half overs unused and made it far too easy for Sussex.

Ollie Robinson has had a decent evening, putting it mildly.

He doesn't get it but settles for conceding just five runs. Saqib Mahmood is in by the way!

    Robinson finishes with 2-27.

  3. 'Lancashire have been dismal'published at 20:07 British Summer Time 4 September

    Sussex v Lancs 108-4

    It is brilliant.

As much as Lancashire have been pretty dismal with their shot selection and approach tonight, on the flip side Sussex have been brilliant, heads and shoulders better.

It has been really smart cricket by Sussex.

WICKET Livingstone run out 43published at 13.5 overs

    Sussex v Lancs 108-9

Liam Livingstone follows his enormous six with his third four.

    Then calamity strikes!

The England man wanted to take a single off the fifth ball of the over but is sent back by Luke Wood.

Livingstone tries desperately to recover his ground with a full-stretch dive, but he's short as Ollie Robinson pulls off a direct hit A good knock did not deserve that

  5. 100 runs

100 for Lancashirepublished at 13.3 overs

    Sussex v Lancs 104-8

It may have looked unlikely at 73-8 but Lightning do indeed reach three figures.

    And in some style.

The sound off the bat tells you everything as Liam Livingstone smacks a huge six as Tymal Mills strays into the dreaded slot.

    Out the ground in fact!

  6. Postpublished at 13 overs

    Sussex v Lancs 98-8

Tom Alsop earning his keep with more good work on the rope to deny Liam Livingstone another boundary.

But his tumbling stop comes at a cost, and he needs treatment.

Livingstone is in the groove here and carves the fifth ball square and it races for four. A single then keeps him on strike. Clever batting.

SIX FOR LIAM LIVINGSTONEpublished at 12.1 overs

Liam Livingstone is left with no choice but to play some shots.

He takes Tymal Mills for a four and then clears the rope with the next to start the 12th over in style.

The left-arm quick responds well with two dots before tucking up the England batter who takes a leg bye.

Mills extends the over by sending down back-to-back wides to new man Luke Wood who wisely decides to give his partner strike for the next over.

  9. 'Definitely worth a review'published at 19:51 British Summer Time 4 September

    Sussex v Lancs 73-8

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

It is worth a review because of the situation Lancashire are in.

It is not absolutely plumb stonewall.

There is an element of leg side, an element of height to it.

It was definitely worth a review.

  10. wicket

WICKET Aspinwall lbw b Coles 5published at 10.5 overs

    Sussex v Lancs 73-8

    An early night, anyone?

Tom Aspinwall paddle sweeps James Coles for a rare boundary, but his fun soon ends.

James Coles slides one in and hits Aspinwall on the knee roll. He walks off without reviewing. Good decision. It was heading for leg stump.

  11. 'Sussex have been fantastic'published at 19:49 British Summer Time 4 September

    Sussex v Lancs 66-7

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

You keep hitting, keep hitting and keep hitting which is fine, but then suddenly you are 66-7 in the 10th.

Surely there sometimes needs to be even a slightly different approach.

Take nothing away from Sussex, the captaincy, their bowling and their catching has been fantastic.

  12. wicket

WICKET Hartley c Clark b Carson 1published at 10 overs

    Sussex v Lancs 66-7

Liam Livingstone finally connects to ball from Jack Carson, but still can't find the boundary as Tom Alsop makes the stop on the boundary.

Then Tom Hartley holes out. What is going on?

Carson's final ball was a drag down and should have been dispatched, but Hartley doesn't find the middle of the bat and Tom Clark takes the catch in the deep.

We're only halfway through and Lancs are seven down.

  13. Postpublished at 9 overs

    Sussex v Lancs 63-6

Some express pace from Jofra Archer is too much for new man Tom Hartley who watches the final ball fly past his nose.

Can Lancashire dig out any kind of score? Or bat out the overs even?

Much rests on the shoulders of Liam Livingstone.

  14. wicket

WICKET Croft c Alsop b Archer 1published at 8.3 overs

    Sussex v Lancs 63-6

It doesn't get any easier as Steven Croft trudges to the pitch and faces Jofra Archer.

And that's a poor poor shot. Gone!

Croft tries to get things moving but gets a toe-end to a shorter ball and picks out Tom Alsop forward of point who takes a good catch sliding on his knees.

A first wicket for the returning Archer.

    Super over from James Coles.

Just two singles and a wicket. Not a bad start.

    Sussex v Lancs 60-5

George Dockrell joins Liam Livingstone with Lightning in real need of a rebuild here.

First spin of the evening as James Coles is introduced.

And another is bowled off his pads!

Coles gets little bit of drift and after three dots, Dockrell tries to make room and is beaten. His brief five-ball stay is done.

  18. 'Biggest wicket by far'published at 19:36 British Summer Time 4 September

    Sussex v Lancs 59-4

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

No one has got to double figures yet bar him. Keaton Jennings had 37 of the 59.

That is the biggest wicket by far.

Someone could play a little bit of an anchor role here now.

They then need Liam Livingstone to go big at the back end here.

  19. wicket

WICKET Jennings b Robinson 37published at 6.5 overs

    Sussex v Lancs 59-4

Liam Livingstone has had a slow start by his standards but scampers through for two as Ollie Robinson returns to the attack.

The run rate is healthy for the visitors, but losing three wickets in the powerplay is always a concern.

    And there's another!

Robinson has a second wicket as he cleans up Keaton Jennings. Lancs in real trouble.

  20. Lightning lose three in the powerplaypublished at 6 overs

    Sussex v Lancs 56-3

Jofra Archer at one end, now Tymal Mills from the other with the last over of the powerplay.

    Who'd be a batter?

Keaton Jennings continues on his merry way as he clips the second ball through the legside for four to bring up the 50 before a flying stop at square leg prevents back-to-back boundaries.

Liam Livingstone has to be watchful to keep out a back-of-the-hand slower ball.

Mills gets the next attempt wrong and the beamer gives Jennings a free hit which he dispatches for four.
