They have worked out the wicket and that was terrific power from Bau to hit that well over long on.

I love the confidence he is playing with here! 150 is on.

  2. 6 runs

    PNG 77-4published at 12.4 overs

Having driven Motie for four two balls earlier, that gave him a sniff of a caught and bowled, Bau finds a second boundary of the over, driving over deep cover for six.

This has been a good over for Bau and his side.

  3. 'In the shop window'published at 16:24 British Summer Time 2 June

    Geraint Jones
Former England and Papua New Guinea wicketkeeper on BBC Sounds

The next step for these Papua New Guinea players is to play in some of the global leagues. That will improve them no end and they are in the shop window here.

These pair are very quick between the wickets and have put some pressure back on to the West Indies.

  4. PNG 67-4published at 12 overs

Shepherd's second over ends with five straight singles, PNG's total of runs from that over.

From here, they could really do with kicking on to give West Indies a respectable target to chase.

Motie has the ball in hand for a third over from him next up.

Eight an over from here would get them to 134 - which would be something to bowl at.

  6. PNG 62-4published at 11 overs

A few expressive shots played from the Papua New Guinea duo of Bau and Amini, although they are unable to find any more boundaries in that over from Motie, with five runs coming in total from it.

Ten an over from here would take Papua New Guinea to 152, but right now, that feels quite a way off.

Romario Shepherd is back in for a second over, taking the first wicket of the day with his first.

  7. 'Great to see on this stage'published at 16:18 British Summer Time 2 June

    Geraint Jones
Former England and Papua New Guinea wicketkeeper on BBC Sounds

It’s fantastic to see Papua New Guinea on this stage. They always had a skill level, but from when I was playing with guys who hadn’t had much professional coaching, they have kicked on. You will see their athletic ability later - they are amazing in the field.

Upsets would be nice in the group stages but more importantly I don't want to see associate teams getting smashed in this tournament. That helps nobody.

  9. West Indies' early wicketspublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 2 June

Four wickets so far for co-hosts West Indies in the first 10 overs of this match and you can watch the first three of them here, including a brilliant catch from Roston Chase to dismiss PNG captain Vala on 21.

  10. Postpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 2 June

Papua New Guinea have been striking at less than a run a ball so far.

They have however found one maximum, coming from captain Vala.

    A lovely shot.

  11. PNG 57-4published at 10 overs

Chase rattles through his third over quickly and does so with some success.

No wides bowled, no boundaries scored and just five come from the over.

At halfway in this innings, West Indies will be feeling good about their progress so far with four wickets taken.

Meanwhile, Papua New Guinea can take some positives, considering they were 7-2 at the start of the third over.

They will need their main players to really fire, there are just too many other strong countries. It will be a struggle for the Windies, even at home. England look like they are coming together and Australia will be up there.

  13. PNG 52-4published at 9 overs

Charles Amini is next into bat and a subtle little dab past keeper Pooran adds two runs to the total.

Chase is kept on at the other end despite two expensive overs so far, with spin proving to be problematic early on.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.5 overs

    Hiri c Powell b Motie 2 (PNG 50-4)

Hiri Hiri's innings is no more.

A reverse sweep back fires. An unusual dismissal pops up off Pooran's pads and lads into the hands of Powell at slip for an easy catch.

Papua New Guinea are four down with only 50 runs on the board as Motie claims his first wicket of this World Cup.

  15. 'Chase has been loose'published at 16:07 British Summer Time 2 June

    Geraint Jones
Former England and Papua New Guinea wicketkeeper on BBC Sounds

The pitch is skiddy and is spinning which is a strange combination. Roston Chase hasn’t settled into his rhythm yet, he’s bowled some loose balls.

  16. PNG 47-3published at 8 overs

Eight come from that over in total and Chase's two overs have gone for a combined total of 19.

No over bowler has gone for more than eight an over so far, while Chase is into double figures.

Gudakesh Motie now joins the attack as West Indies stick with spin.

I thought the WI were supposed to be a big cricket country, you could count the crowd in 100s, probably less than 5% full, or empty?

What a big day out for PNG. This is a tall order for them after they lost all three games in their previous appearance. West Indies are one of the favourites for the tournament, they have some power hitters and decent spinners.

  19. PNG 43-3published at 7.1 overs

A lovely shot from Bau finds four.

A little strut down the wicket before lofting it back over the head of Chase for a once-bounce boundary.

Chase is perhaps the only of West Indies' bowlers so far who has struggled for consistency and allowed runs to flow.

  20. PNG 39-3published at 7 overs

Just one ball for Hiri to block out ends the over, where Papa New Guinea added five runs in total off Hosein.

Chase is back into the attack, but from the other end. His first over went for 11.
