Another one of those frustrating days because of the weather but it has set up an intriguing final day if nothing else.

We should get a result either way at The Oval between the top two of Surrey and Nottinghamshire and that will mean Somerset need to beat Hampshire to maintain a theoretical title chance.

At the bottom Worcestershire have been relegated but the scrap to avoid joining them encompasses Durham, Hampshire, and Yorkshire.

You can read about today's action here and we'll see you tomorrow at 10:00 BST.

  3. Hampshire reach Women's One-Day Cup finalpublished at 18:20 BST 17 September

Georgia Adams' magnificent unbeaten 107 saw Hampshire to a four-wicket win over Surrey in the One-Day Cup semi-final at the Utilita Bowl.

They will again have home advantage for Sunday's final against Lancashire after chasing down a target of 288 with 17 balls to spare.

Kira Chathli top scored with 81 for Surrey, but they were all out for 287 in the 49th over as Freya Davies took 4-39.

But Adams hit 11 fours and shared an unbroken partnership of 104 with Mary Taylor (60*) to see them home on 290-6.

  4. Close of play at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 18:17 BST 17 September

    Durham v Worcs 591-9

Ben Allison and Tom Taylor see off Shafiqullah Ghafari's final over of the day.

Worcestershire have added 271 runs to their overnight score for the loss of just four wickets, with Gareth Roderick and Ethan Brookes both making hundreds.

Despite their productive day with the bat on a lifeless pitch, Worcestershire's relegation was confirmed after they failed to reach a third batting point.

It's not been the most gripping cricket, in all honesty.

  5. Postpublished at 18:14 BST 17 September

    Durham v Worcs 589-9

Ben Raine is bowling offies for Durham - that's where this game has got to.

He hasn't got the 'Ollie Robinson in Australia' sunglasses on, though.

Six deliveries remain in the day.

  6. Postpublished at 18:03 BST 17 September

    Durham v Worcs 578-9

That's the 200 up for Durham spinner Shafiqullah Ghafari.

He has figures of 1-204 from 45 overs.

There are four overs left in the day...

  7. Close of play at Old Traffordpublished at 17:59 BST 17 September

    Lancs 105-0 v Middx 211

Bad light has brought an end to proceedings in Manchester.

Rain early saw the start delayed until 3pm and after polishing off the final two wickets, Tom Apsinwall getting both to finish with 4-62, it has been all Lancs.

Keaton Jennings (36) and Luke Wells (60) have put together an increasingly solid-looking opening partnership of 105 as Middx seamers struggled to make any inroads.

But the match looks destined for an early handshake tomorrow.

  8. Close of play at Hovepublished at 17:55 BST 17 September

    Sussex 232-8 v Yorkshire 194

Just 52 overs of play on day three at Hove with John Simpson's 66 guiding Sussex into a first-innings lead of 38.

Both sides will be content with the situation with next-to-bottom Durham heading for an inevitable draw against Worcestershire.

Simpson now has 952 Championship runs this season to follow his 1,197 in Division Two last season.

They lost four wickets in the day with two for Yorkshire spinner Dom Bess and one each for Matt Milnes and George Hill.

  9. Brookes reaches 100 but still they bat onpublished at 17:50 BST 17 September

    Worcestershire 566-9 v Durham

    Ethan BrookesImage source, Rex Features

Ethan Brookes has become the second Worcestershire batsman to score a century in this game.

Gareth Roderick made 151 earlier, but Brookes has just been bowled on 100 by Matty Potts. He threw the kitchen sink at a ball and lost his off stump. The knock included 11 fours and one six. The only six of the match.

And I have no idea why they have not declared. Tom Taylor has also just reached 50.

Durham didn't bother taking the second new ball until the 164th over with the score 554-8. They have been in the field for 165.4 overs and as a result of that this is their second longest bowling spell in FC cricket.

The longest is 176 overs batted by Yorkshire in 2010 when they made 610 runs.

  10. Women's One Day Cup updatepublished at 17:48 BST 17 September

Hampshire have put themselves in the box seat at Utilita Bowl.

At 133-5 after 20 overs their victory target of 288 must have looked miles away but they're now 251-6 in the 42nd over.

Skipper Georgia Adams (85*) and Mary Taylor (46*) have now added 65 runs for the seventh wicket.

They require 37 runs from 53 balls.

  11. Bad light stops play at Old Traffordpublished at 17:47 BST 17 September

    Lancs 105-0 v Middx 211

It has got too gloomy for Middx to continue with seam and, with Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells well set and in destructive mood, there is little appetite from the visitors to go with an all spin attack.

So that could be it for the day as this match trundles inexorably towards a a draw but the umpires will presumably give it some time before they call it off.

WICKETpublished at 17:45 BST 17 September

    Brookes b Potts 100 (Durham v Worcs 560-9)

    Stumps everywhere.

Ethan Brookes charges Matt Potts and tries to hit him out of Durham, but completely misses.

Ben Allison heads to the middle as Durham seek the one wicket that would finally end this innings.

  13. Close of play at Tauntonpublished at 17:43 BST 17 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hants 172 and 35-1

How important might that final action of day three prove to be with Archie Vaughan breaking Ali Orr's resistance as the rain clouds closed in.

Somerset will certainly be confident in their spin threat given the day saw 12 Hants wicket fall to spin with Jack Leach taking season's best 7-69 and Vaughan 3-79.

Rain and then bad light brought proceedings to a close but with Hants trailing by 247 with nine wickets left Somerset are heavy favourites.

  14. Latest from Hovepublished at 17:42 BST 17 September

    Sussex 232-8 v Yorkshire 194

Following that most recent three-ball mini-session, during which Sussex added one run to the total, we thought that was it for the day when the teams went off again for bad light.

But perhaps not - the umpires will look again at 5:50pm.

  15. 100 runs

for Ethan Brookespublished at 17:41 BST 17 September

    Durham v Worcs 555-8

Drop and run from Ethan Brookes and he scampers through to reach his hundred.

Durham look pretty fed up out there - they've got absolutely nothing out of this pitch all day.

  16. 100 runs

100 up for Lancspublished at 17:37 BST 17 September

    Lancs 100-0 v Middx 211

The opening pair Luke Wells and Keaton Jennings move Lancs to within sight of the halfway point to Middx first innings total but this has a feel of a game that will surely run out of road.

  17. 50 runs

50 for Wellspublished at 17:34 BST 17 September

    Lancs 99-0 v Middx 211

Luke Wells moves to the third half century of his campaign and Lancs move fairly untroubled towards three figures.

It came up from a single off the bowling of Ryan Higgins and took 71 balls to arrive with five fours and two sixes.

Once there he immediately adds another maximum straight and long off the spin of Zafar Gohar.

  18. Women's One Day Cup updatepublished at 17:28 BST 17 September

We're getting towards the business end of the One Day Cup semi-final at Utilita Bowl.

Hampshire are chasing 288 to beat Surrey.

After 37 overs they are 226-6 with captain Georgia Adams unbeaten on 79.

  19. Close of play at The Ovalpublished at 17:17 BST 17 September

    Surrey 66-0 (Target 315)

Nope, that's it for the day at The Oval I'm afraid.

Bad light puts the tin lid on things.

We'll all be back tomorrow morning at 10:30 BST with Surrey requiring a further 249 runs for victory and Notts 10 wickets.

Now, let's all go and check the weather forecast...

  20. Inspection at The Ovalpublished at 17:15 BST 17 September

    Surrey 66-0 (Target 315)

    Okay,

Umpires Nigel Llong and Ian Blackwell are out taking a look at conditions at The Oval.

We've been hanging around for a while now lads...
