    Lancs 71-0 v Middx 211

Fine start from the two Lancs openers with Luke Wells on 31 and Keaton Jennings on 25.

    Sussex 232-8 v Yorks 194

Almost a wicket for Dom Bess with the first ball after the rain interruption as Sean Hunt turns it just past the right hand of the man under the helmet at short leg.

  5. 'Good piece of bowling from Vaughan'published at 16:55 BST 17 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hampshire 172 & 35-1

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

From a Somerset point of view, it's all about being patient. Just keep doing what they're doing.

Hampshire have battled hard to get to this point and to only lose one wicket. You always felt that wickets weren't too far away as Ali Orr is trapped lbw.

There's so much time left in the game.

  6. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 16:53 BST 17 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hants 172 & 35-1

Salt rubbed vigorously into the wound for Ali Orr who lost his wicket 90 seconds before steady drizzle starts to sweep in.

If only he had could have fiddled with his gloves or taken a walk to square leg he could have saved himself.

Nick Gubbins was out ready to face Archie Vaughan but the umpires hesitated and have now pointed to the pavilion.

Gloomy clouds are swirling, the skies are beginning to bruise as Uncle Monty would say and that could well be that for the day.

if it is there is an excellent day's cricket in prospect tomorrow on day four with Hants trailing by 247 with nine wickets remaining.

    Waite lbw b Conners 0 (Durham v Worcs 479-8)

    One brings two.

Matthew Waite is pinned by Sam Conners from just his third delivery faced and has to go.

Worcestershire opt to keep batting as Tom Taylor strides to the middle.

  8. England beat Ireland by four wicketspublished at 16:50 BST 17 September

    #bbccricket

All very comfortable for England across the water.

They beat Ireland by four wickets with 14 balls to spare in the first T20 international at Malahide.

Phil Salt top scores with 89 after Ireland made 196-3 in their 20 overs.

The second of the three games is at the same venue on Friday.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:48 BST 17 September

    Orr lbw b Vaughan 27 (Somerset 454-8 dec v Hants 172 & 35-1)

Nice bit of loop and a lot of turn there was no doubt about that with the ball hitting Ali Orr deep on the crease in front of off stump.

Lovely bowling from Archie Vaughan and a massive breakthrough for Somerset who were beginning to look a little bit flat.

Georgia Adams is so reliable and is now 56 not out for Hampshire, who are 166-5 after 27 overs against Surrey.

They need to score 288 to win this semi-final - so 121 from 23 overs, that's a rate of more than five an over.

  11. Inspection at The Ovalpublished at 16:47 BST 17 September

    Surrey 66-0 (Target 315)

So, we've had no play since 15:06 BST because of bad light.

    We've had no rain.

They're going to have a look at 17:15 BST to see if we can get back out there.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:46 BST 17 September

    Roderick lbw b Conners 151 (Durham v Worcs 479-7)

    A wicket!

Sam Conners gets one to keep a bit low and it thuds into the pads of Gareth Roderick.

That looks pretty adjacent and the Worcestershire wicketkeeper has to go for a superb 151.

  13. Postpublished at 16:44 BST 17 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hants 172 & 35-0

It is darkening ever so slightly at Taunton and it could be that the chance for a little bit of seam has gone for captain Lewis Gregory.

Lewis Goldsworthy is being given another spin after his solitary over was used earlier to rotate the spinners.

He gives it a bit more flight than Archie Vaughan and has a nice action so let's see whether he can make a difference.

  14. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:43 BST 17 September

    Durham v Worcs 477-6

Ethan Brookes charges at Shafiqullah Ghafari and smears the first six of the match over cow corner.

Are Worcestershire going to think about a declaration soon? There are 24 overs left in the day.

  15. Postpublished at 16:41 BST 17 September

    Sussex 231-8 v Yorkshire 194 - rain stopped play

It's really gloomy out there, dare we say 'sepulchral'. Yes, we dare.

The lights remain on but there is only one single cover on the pitch - the rest of the square is unprotected. We await news from the umpires.

  16. 'Hampshire need to show some fight'published at 16:37 BST 17 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hampshire 172 & 34-0

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

A few things happening out there. You don't want the second innings to go like the first. That's not a good look.

There's another match to play next week. Probably the most important match in the Championship Hampshire have played in for the last few years.

  17. England heading for victory in Irelandpublished at 16:37 BST 17 September

    #bbccricket

We're a bit thin on the ground for county action at the moment but don't forget some of England's promising white-ball players are currently out in Ireland for a three-match T20 series.

Rookie skipper Jacob Bethell looks to be leading them to victory in the first match at Malahide.

They're chasing 197 to win and are 180-4 in the 16th over.

    You can follow that here.

  18. 150 runs

for Gareth Roderickpublished at 16:36 BST 17 September

    Durham v Worcs 466-6

And shortly after, Gareth Roderick goes to 150 with a single tucked out to square leg.

Worcestershire continue to bat and bat and bat.

  19. 50 runs

for Ethan Brookespublished at 16:32 BST 17 September

    Durham v Worcs 461-6

Ethan Brookes nudges a single into the leg side to bring up his 50 on this very placid pitch.

  20. Postpublished at 16:29 BST 17 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hants 172 & 31-0

There has been the odd delivery which has threatened but, as is often the case following on, the intensity of the first innings has dipped a little.

Hants openers Ali Orr and Fletcha Middleton have coped well with the first hour of their second innings and look intent on digging in.

Just three boundaries so far but Orr (23) and Middleton (8) have so far stood firm.

Perhaps Lewis Gregory could try a bit of seam even just at one end?
