  1. Inspecting at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 11:31 BST 17 September

    Durham v Worcs 320-5

Covers are being dragged from the square at CLS in order for the 11:30 inspection to take place which is a positive sign.

Not a great amount of urgency on show though which rather balances any optimism that they will be playing any time soon.

  2. Latest from Leicesterpublished at 11:30 BST 17 September

    Leics 459-7 dec v Kent 17-0

The players will take lunch at mid-day at Grace Road, with an inspection by the umpires to follow.

As we said yesterday, Leicestershire would love to wrap up the Division Two title on home turf, rather than away from home next week.

Maybe a draw in this game will be enough, if they don't have enough time left to win it.

WICKETpublished at 11:28 BST 17 September

    Bracey c McManus b Whitehouse 36 (Gloucs 107-5 v Northants 206)

A huge wicket for Northants, as Ben Whitehouse entices a booming drive from James Bracey, who can only nick it through to the gloves of Lewis McManus.

Whitehouse's two wickets have swung the momentum his side's way.

  4. 'Disappointing for Aldridge'published at 11:21 BST 17 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hampshire

    Annie Chave
    BBC Somerset

It's an excellent throw from Nick Gubbins to run out Kasey Aldridge who'd be disappointed as he probably had the 200 eyed.

He's coming off to huge applause after scoring an excellent 180 and with that Somerset have declared.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:18 BST 17 September

    Price b Whitehouse 37 (Gloucs 104-4 v Northants)

    Bowled him!

Ben Whitehouse uproots Ollie Price's middle stump with a lovely nip-backer - not bad for your second first-class wicket.

Graeme van Buuren joins James Bracey in the middle.

Aldridge run out 180 (Somerset 445-8 v Hants)

    Kasey AldridgeImage source, Rex Features

Kasey Aldridge's long stay is over.. and so is Somerset's innings.

The all-rounder pushes for a single to mid off where Nick Gubbins gathers and throws down the stumps at the non-strikers.

Aldridge is two yards short and arcs his run past the stumps and straight towards the pavilion.

That has been a superb knock and an undoubted high point of his first class career (his only previous century 101no came in 2023).

His 221 run partnership with Tom Abell for the sixth wicket on day two and his 107 with Craig Overton has given Somerset the platform.

Can they take 20 Hants wickets now?

  7. Five batting bonus pointspublished at 11:16 BST 17 September

    Somerset 453-7 v Hants

A confident drive through the covers from Craig Overton brings up the fifth bonus point.

And a single brings up his fifty – the 18th of his first class career – in 62 balls with four fours and two sixes.

  8. No play before lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 11:15 BST 17 September

    Warwicks v Essex 325-5

They're not having much luck at Edgbaston.

The whole of the first day was abandoned before we got going yesterday.

But the weather is back with a vengeance in Birmingham and we'll have no play before lunch because of the rain.

  9. Postpublished at 11:13 BST 17 September

    Gloucs 101-3 v Northants 206

James Bracey whips Justin Broad through midwicket for three and brings up the Gloucestershire hundred.

It's been a productive morning so far for Bracey and Ollie Price in testing conditions.

  10. Postpublished at 11:13 BST 17 September

    Somerset 447-7 v Hants

Washington Sundar on to stem the flow? Well that worked well.

Two misfields, a missed catch, two fours and a six as his return from the India international goes for 17.

Kasey Aldridge and Craig Overton have put on 100 in 90 balls and Somerset are now just three away from a fifth batting point.

  11. Latest from Hovepublished at 11:12 BST 17 September

    Sussex 84-4 v Yorkshire 194

Hurrah, we are going to have some play at 11:45, providing the weather does not have other ideas.

There will be 84 overs today.

  12. 'Somerset looking to pile on the pressure'published at 11:10 BST 17 September

    Somerset 438-7 v Hampshire

    Annie Chave
    BBC Somerset

They're doing exactly what's required, to score quickly and get that (final) batting point.

  13. Aldridge one of four big name exitspublished at 11:09 BST 17 September

    Somerset 438-7 v Hants

Kasey Aldridge is one of four big names leaving Somerset at the end of the season with Ben Green, Josh Davey and Sean Dickson also set to leave the County Ground.

They will all leave a big hole which Somerset believe they can fill with emerging talent but on this showing Aldridge will be not only a big miss for Somerset but a huge positive for Durham.

The Durham management team sitting watching this at Chester-le Street where they are waiting on an inspection at 11:30 in their game against Worcs, who will be rubbing their hands at a decent bit of business.

  14. 'Somerset looking for 450'published at 11:06 BST 17 September

    Somerset 421-7 v Hampshire

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

I expect Somerset to look to get 450 and look to declare and try to get in amongst the Hampshire wickets.

If Somerset have to bat again, I don't think they'll win the game.

  15. Postpublished at 11:03 BST 17 September

    Somerset 421-7 v Hants

Perhaps not his classiest moment of a great innings as Kasey Aldridge winds up a muscular, pre-meditated swipe at Kyle Abbott which takes an inside edge and races through backward square to the rope.

A case of never mind the quality feel the width as he moves stealthily towards a double hundred – some leaving present from a cricketer playing his last game at Taunton.

He follows up with a perfectly balanced upper cut off James Fuller which flies over the point boundary for six and he follows it with a brutal slap through mid on.

This is great stuff and the spin of Washington Sundar cannot be far away.

  16. ouch!

Postpublished at 11:00 BST 17 September

    Gloucs 85-3 v Northants 206

James Bracey is struck in a soft and vulnerable area by Northants seamer Ben Whitehouse.

It must have been lower abdomen rather than further south, because Bracey bounces back to his feet quickly enough and pulls the next shortish ball to the boundary for four.

  17. Women's One-Day Cup latestpublished at 10:56 BST 17 September

Surrey have lost an early wicket at the Utilita Bowl, with captain Bryony Smith bowled by Freya Davies for four.

They are 17-1 after five overs against Hampshire - Alice Monaghan and Emma Jones are now together in the middle.

  18. Fourth batting bonus point for Somersetpublished at 10:53 BST 17 September

    Somerset 403-7 v Hants

That was all class.... Kasey Aldridge has rocked on to his back foot and punch-steered James Fuller behind point for a four.

It brings up a fourth batting bonus point for the hosts and it is all going according to plan for Somerset so far.

    Derbyshire 17-0 v Glamorgan 259 - start delayed

Umpires Steve O'Shaughnessy and Surendiran Shanmugam - absolute nightmare having those two officiating in the same game from a typing point of view - have decided there will be no play before lunch.

Incidentally, with the US president now in the country, we expect Derbyshire's Aneurin Donald to make a big impact with the bat today whenever play gets under way.

"The blindingly obvious is now official, with lakes of water starting to form on the covers. With several players having slipped on the soft outfield yesterday, it’s likely to take some time to dry out even when the rain does stop," said BBC Radio Wales' Nick Webb.

  20. Postpublished at 10:49 BST 17 September

    Somerset 397-7 v Hants

Craig Overton is a superb competitor with ball, bat and in the field and he has cracked a lovely second boundary of his morning off the bowling of Kyle Abbott, driving it through the covers in style.

The South African responds by thudding one into his pads as Overton takes a lusty swipe and misses.

This is good entertainment with Overton and Kasey Aldridge (155 not out) at the crease and will continue to be to 110 overs or 450 runs whichever comes quicker.
